Tim from Snuffstore has been busy with his new son. Didn’t you see th thread?
Snuffbox - nope I didn’t. Congratulations to you Tim :o)
I just ordered a few Wilsons I never had, any comments on them? Brunswick Princess Best Dark Burgundy
Burgundy is crazy! its like having sherbert up your nose! Interesting but not one I regularly use. Best dark is good, much like best SP in flavour, when fresh but dont let it dry out (i think snuffs dry out quite easily in the little WoS tins.). I think WoS are superb snuffs (best SP being my first ever snuff so I am nostalgically linked to the company and that snuff in particular). They also make my favourite snuff, French Carotte, I never tire of that snuff. Also they make the F&T range which are truly world class!
Brunswick is a great snuff. It is black, very coarse and moist a bit like Taxi. The flavour is geranium, lemon and other citrus. Its a very refreshing long lasting taste. Well worth a try. Stefan
Thanks, I was looking for dark and flavorful. I didn’t like French Carotte.
Never tried French Carrotte, what’s it like? Stefan
This is Snuffsters review from snuffreviews.com: “Sweet and spicy with what tastes like a hint of sandalwood. This is one of those old fashioned English snuffs that reminds me of Gentlemen’s clubs or Victorian London, just somehow not a modern flavour and all the better for it.” Definite cedar/sandalwood scent. Smells like old varnished wood to me.
Sounds like I’d quite like that. I’ll order some when I’m feeling a bit richer lol. Stefan
If you want to try WOS snuffs you should get a couple of their gift packs. They have 6- 5g tins, assorted flavors. Usually a gift pack has some menthols, some fruit and a plain.
I’ve tried a lot of Wilsons snuff. I’ve tried all their SP’s and menthols, and some other flavours. Out of the 50-odd available I’ve tried about 25-30. Some I’ve just never got round to ordering, but will do in time. Stefan
I bought Best Dark, Brunswick and Burgundy all at once about a month ago. I loved Best Dark, thought Brunswick was great (had it this morning in fact - tin is about empty) and didn’t much care for Burgundy. Brunswick’s scent lasts a long time - very strong citrus for me, and as it’s dried out a bit I prefer it more. Best Dark was awesome and I went through the tin very fast, but it was so coarse was hard to get up the nose. Burgundy just didn’t do it for me scent wise. I hope to try Princes soon.
I’m in love with Tom Buck/Queens and a lot of like with Best Dark. I’m finding that I don’t have much affinity, so far, for florals, and don’t like menthol, so maybe it’s just the clean I’m liking. I’m a huge Spanish Gem fan, so it may not be so much brand as type. Nevertheless, these are my winners. I’m not into flavours or menthol, or wax.
@Walrus1985. Wilsons French Carotte is great if you like a massive sandlewood hit. It must be the easiest snuff on the nose I know of, but nicotine is pretty non existent. The aroma lasts an eternity as well. The scent of an old fashioned barber shop is very accurate. There are good descriptions of these four snuffs on SnuffReviews. As others have said, Best Dark is brilliant fresh, but like their Best SP, turns to dust very quickly. Burgundy is like F&Ts Bordeaux, very nice. Brunswick and Princes (not Princess - is there such a snuff?) are the dark, coarse moist, faintly floral affairs. Both excellent.
My two most favourite snuffs crumbs of comfort and irish high toast are defiantly worth a try.
Good choices, Tom. All 4 of those are winners in my book. Yes, that seems to be what you are looking for if you want somthing moist and course. Be careful that they do not dry out on you. They are also notorious for rusting their own tins from the inside. If you have available airtight plastic containers, I’d recommend transferring them when you get them. Princes (no such thing as Princess) and Brunswick are similar. If you’ve had F&T Princes, Princes Special or Santo Domingo, they are all in the same color, moisture, grind family. The flavors are a little different, and Brunswick being more citrus-SP like. Burgundy is also quite tangy, but its a little finer and red brown in color. Its just as moist though. @ Walrus: French Carotte is very sweet. I happen to enjoy it a lot, but its not for everyone. I think there are over 60 Wilsons varieties now. I think other than most of the menthols I have not had Country Mint, SP Silver, and Irish Toast No. 21. I’m pretty sure I’m tried the rest. Only a handful I did not care for.
