Wilson's of Sharrow

I’m a Strasbourg and Rose of Sharrow fan. I want to branch out into the moister, coarser versions. May I request some help?

Maybe try Brunswick. It is moist and coarse with a strange floral/citrus thing going on. I didn’t care for it much personally but many do like it.

I love Brunswick esp in the early Spring, WoS Grand Cairo is a more complex take on the SP genre and a little moister it seems than Best SP or Tom Buck/Queen’s. If you like Rose of Sharrow, the Gold Label is an SP with rose and lavender notes, very subtle very nice with some tea. Molens de Kralingse Macouba and Prins Regent might also be pleasing to you and they are coarser and moister than the average Wilson’s grind, additionally Abraxus’ St. Casura (I don’t love as much as some seem to) but it does have a nice floral bouquet without crossing over into cloying and is a little moist but medium fine in the grind. Finally give Stok’s Charlotte a spin it is a medium coarse oiled snuff with a light floral/herbal/fresh mowed grass scent, fantastic.

Honey and menthol is pretty moist and good. Its a must try.

Wos best dark; dark, moist, and a citrus high note. A great snuff, top 5 snuff for me.

I would second Brunswick and Best Dark - best to buy the Brunswick in large tins and get it out of the tin and into something else as quickly as you can. It corrodes the Wilsons tins. (But don’t let that put you off…) Given that you like Strasbourg and Rose, have you tried some of the other more complex scented snuffs? Have a go at Jockey Club and Royal George. Jockey Club is a bit like very old-fashioned gentleman’s cologne, and as to Royal George… God and Wilsons are the only people who know what’s in it. Probably not the kitchen sink, because it wouldn’t fit, but just about everything else!

Tom Buck is a wonderful snuff. It is a classic and one of my favorites. Highly recommended. It is a must try in my opinion.

@fredh‌ I have added Tom Buck to my next order, I love Toque SP extra, and was a little disapointed in WoS Best SP, (a personal thi ngs, I know its a great snuff) going for Tom Buck next

Tom Buck is good stuff. Might have to revisit as well. A simultaneously thank you and da%n you all to the fine folks around here. I’m about to turn one of life’s cheapest pleasures into an expensive vice.

Tom Buck and Prime Minister. Oh - and Bubble gum. Get a 5 g tin - it’s a cheap folly - and pretty good too .

@The_HP‌ , bubble gum??? Bubble gum??? I used to take you seriously. But hang on, does it smell like the stuff in the Topps baseball card packs or Bazooka Joe? Proust might have been wrong…

@Malatesta‌ - it smells like old tough as a rock Double Bubble likke you could get for 3 cents a piece at the rec ball field…and I am serious - I bought it as a lark, but find myself reaching for it often on my ride home from work… makes you feel like a kid…
