Browsing through the Snuff Store, I was looking over these snuffs. They have a wide variety, and all of the tins they offer must be super small, as they only run £.85. I’m considering ordering several different flavours to try out, being as they are very cheap. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what are the best of these to try? ~Snuffy

A

I like Snuffstore, but I have to be honest and say for Wilsons its better to buy from the company direct, as they offer a wider variety of sizes, up to pound (KG) drums. For flavoured snuffs I actually go for Toque, but the one place Wilsons excel in all the new competition is their SP’s and Toasts. I recommend Tom Buck, Best SP and Irish High Toast No 22. The great Wilsons snuff is still Tom Buck - an intense SP. Ask for the ‘snuff by post’ list via the website.

B

royal george you may hate it but it’s really interesting

A

I just find some of their flavoured snuffs very similar, but I would say the SPs are world class with IH22 in a league of its own.

J

The best Wilsons I have had so far are in order: 1. honey menthol 2. cherry menthol 3. spearmint plus 4. crumbs of comfort 5. tangerine 6. SM blue the kinds I did not like are: 1. Irish high toast 2. Irish coffee 3. rose 4. rum & blackberry This is just my personal preferences.

A

Rose of Sharrow, yeah, thats good, not had that one in years

T

Wilsons to try: Strawberry- one of my favorites.

S

Their Apricot is very good.

O

snuffy, I’ve never ordered from Wilson’s direct but it makes sense to me to order through snuffstore if you’re looking for a variety of snuffs in smaller quantities. If you don’t like something it’s no big deal to put it to the side and try again at a later date. If you love something then I could see ordering the larger amounts. Plus you can sample tons of other stuff from other manufacturers while you’re at it if you order from a store like snuffstore. I enjoy many of the Wilson’s but the only one I use regularly would be the No.22 high toast.

W

Camphor & Mild is an excellent snuff to try. The flavour is hard to explain, but is unique and well worth trying. I liked it so much I ordered 1/2 lb of it. Stefan

S

Yep Camphor and mild is a good favourite of mine too. I also Like Strasbourg, but with this you will love or hate it.

S

Does anybody know whether WIlson’s charges extra for shipping outside UK?

S

@ Snuffbox yes they do I’m gonna try and send you their mail order in pdf format as a whisper. Edit:::::: I’ll Email It Ok

S

drat, now it may not be worth ordering from them. Still waiting for my Toque to get here so I can try the famous toasts! We’ve had a lot of holidays and the post office has been closed almost half the days this month.

B

Most Wilsons will be in stock early next week. Tom NicotineRush.com

P

they are great english snuffs. crumbs, tom buck and cherry menthol do it for me. wilsons also responsible for keeping f&t snuffs going. the v small tins are great for tasting, getting to know the brand

S

Mars sell pound cans too. They have TB and maybe IHT n.22 in stock. They will special order any of the WoS snuffs. It can take a month for a special order, but if you are not in a hurry, it’s an excellent value for certain favorites.

S

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. I definitely think I’ll be ordering from the snuff store because, as it has been stated, I can just go hog wild trying new flavours, and if I don’t like them it won’t be too much of a waste. I’ll be trying the toasts and sp’s for sure, as they are a field that I haven’t ventured into. Thanks again! ~Snuffy

I tried to inquire from Snuffstore.uk what kind Dholakia snuffs they have in pouches - but I receive no replies to my e-mails, even though I know they received it. Very strange. So I’ve given up on Dholakia and gone back to Wilsons…

S

Tim from Snuffstore has been busy with his new son. Didn’t you see th thread?

V

Snuffbox - nope I didn’t. Congratulations to you Tim :o)

I just ordered a few Wilsons I never had, any comments on them? Brunswick Princess Best Dark Burgundy

O

Burgundy is crazy! its like having sherbert up your nose! Interesting but not one I regularly use. Best dark is good, much like best SP in flavour, when fresh but dont let it dry out (i think snuffs dry out quite easily in the little WoS tins.). I think WoS are superb snuffs (best SP being my first ever snuff so I am nostalgically linked to the company and that snuff in particular). They also make my favourite snuff, French Carotte, I never tire of that snuff. Also they make the F&T range which are truly world class!

W

Brunswick is a great snuff. It is black, very coarse and moist a bit like Taxi. The flavour is geranium, lemon and other citrus. Its a very refreshing long lasting taste. Well worth a try. Stefan

T

Thanks, I was looking for dark and flavorful. I didn’t like French Carotte.

W

Never tried French Carrotte, what’s it like? Stefan

O

This is Snuffsters review from snuffreviews.com: “Sweet and spicy with what tastes like a hint of sandalwood. This is one of those old fashioned English snuffs that reminds me of Gentlemen’s clubs or Victorian London, just somehow not a modern flavour and all the better for it.” Definite cedar/sandalwood scent. Smells like old varnished wood to me.

W

Sounds like I’d quite like that. I’ll order some when I’m feeling a bit richer lol. Stefan

N

If you want to try WOS snuffs you should get a couple of their gift packs. They have 6- 5g tins, assorted flavors. Usually a gift pack has some menthols, some fruit and a plain.

W

I’ve tried a lot of Wilsons snuff. I’ve tried all their SP’s and menthols, and some other flavours. Out of the 50-odd available I’ve tried about 25-30. Some I’ve just never got round to ordering, but will do in time. Stefan

I bought Best Dark, Brunswick and Burgundy all at once about a month ago. I loved Best Dark, thought Brunswick was great (had it this morning in fact - tin is about empty) and didn’t much care for Burgundy. Brunswick’s scent lasts a long time - very strong citrus for me, and as it’s dried out a bit I prefer it more. Best Dark was awesome and I went through the tin very fast, but it was so coarse was hard to get up the nose. Burgundy just didn’t do it for me scent wise. I hope to try Princes soon.

H

I’m in love with Tom Buck/Queens and a lot of like with Best Dark. I’m finding that I don’t have much affinity, so far, for florals, and don’t like menthol, so maybe it’s just the clean I’m liking. I’m a huge Spanish Gem fan, so it may not be so much brand as type. Nevertheless, these are my winners. I’m not into flavours or menthol, or wax.

S

@Walrus1985. Wilsons French Carotte is great if you like a massive sandlewood hit. It must be the easiest snuff on the nose I know of, but nicotine is pretty non existent. The aroma lasts an eternity as well. The scent of an old fashioned barber shop is very accurate. There are good descriptions of these four snuffs on SnuffReviews. As others have said, Best Dark is brilliant fresh, but like their Best SP, turns to dust very quickly. Burgundy is like F&Ts Bordeaux, very nice. Brunswick and Princes (not Princess - is there such a snuff?) are the dark, coarse moist, faintly floral affairs. Both excellent.

S

My two most favourite snuffs crumbs of comfort and irish high toast are defiantly worth a try.

X

Good choices, Tom. All 4 of those are winners in my book. Yes, that seems to be what you are looking for if you want somthing moist and course. Be careful that they do not dry out on you. They are also notorious for rusting their own tins from the inside. If you have available airtight plastic containers, I’d recommend transferring them when you get them. Princes (no such thing as Princess) and Brunswick are similar. If you’ve had F&T Princes, Princes Special or Santo Domingo, they are all in the same color, moisture, grind family. The flavors are a little different, and Brunswick being more citrus-SP like. Burgundy is also quite tangy, but its a little finer and red brown in color. Its just as moist though. @ Walrus: French Carotte is very sweet. I happen to enjoy it a lot, but its not for everyone. I think there are over 60 Wilsons varieties now. I think other than most of the menthols I have not had Country Mint, SP Silver, and Irish Toast No. 21. I’m pretty sure I’m tried the rest. Only a handful I did not care for.
