My first Scmalzler

I love my Sternecker Fresko.

@ Filek: at the end of the day I have to say no. Bernards is, imo, superior to Sternecker. Not that sternecker isn’t great - it’s just too subtle for my tastes. how’s that for audacity? hahaha!

Bernards is the best, but those little (read expensive) 10 gram tap boxes are a killer. It doesn’t take but a day or two to go through one. That is why I use more Poschl. 100 gram bags are necessary if you are going to use it like a schmalzler should be used. Sternecker is good too, but I’m not too fond of their Staubinger.

Every rose has its thorn, as they say, and that is Bernard’s thorn.

Indeed. I would like to see Bernard’s also sold in 100g bags.

I have Brasil Feinst in 100g heat sealed foil bags… It seemed like a good idea to stock up when it looked like they were going out of business a few years ago. Glad I did even if they didn’t.

You mean you have 5 of the 20g foil bags? Or was it sold in a big bag before?

No, I have 9 or 10 of the big 100g bags/pouches. They haven’t been available for a couple of years now. The snuff keeps perfectly in them. I’ll take a pic shortly. I still have a few of the foil wrapped 20g cubes as well

Wow. They should really reintroduce those. It would make economic sense for the customer and the company. I would rather buy one of those than 10 disposable tap boxes, which are - no doubt, costly to produce. Well, I wouldn’t dispose of all of them. I would keep a few on hand to refill until I replace them with a proper schmalzler bottle.

The best of it was how cheap they were - just €3 or €4 each. I do indeed keep a proper Schmalzler bottle topped up from one of them.
