After reading nothing but great things about these types of snuff I ordered the smaller bags poschls doppelaroma and Brazil and I am in love. My question is I wanted to order more and was curious if the Bernard’s flavors were similar?I love the fruityness of the ones I have but am looking for other opinions on some of your favorite schmalzlers
Some are and some are halb-schmalzlers. Check out Sternecker first, the price point is a bit better.
Bernard has the widest range of schmalzler, but you can’t really go wrong with any of them. Cstokes4 is right though on the price. Sternecker is much more economical since the most of Bernard’s are only available in 10g tap boxes, and Sternecker comes in econo bags. I’m pretty sure Sternecker Echt Fresko is my favorite of them all.
Sternecker are my fav. but they are the plainest of the schmalzlers, if you want alot of fruityness you’d better stick with Poschl and Bernards
I’m loving the Poschl schmalzlers right now (sudfruckt). Like you i am fairly new to this style (all styles actually) but i find that the Poschl ones are a bit more oily but the tobacco in the Bernards that i have tried to be stronger. So many schmalzlers so little time!
@cstokes4 What are some half schmalzers and what are they like?
The half schmalzer that immediately springs to mind is Zweifacher (I think that’s how you spell it) from Bernard’s, which is delightful if you like menthol. Not sure about any others - it’s the only one I’ve tried. Definitely worth getting some Sternecker Echt Fresko, though. Fantastic stuff.
Thanks I didn’t even know about sternecker I will definitely have to try then out. And it looks like I’m going to have to go down the list on Mr snuff and start trying em all out
“Halb-schmalzler”
not a typo
@ Xander I know it wasn’t a typo but isn’t that just German for half schmalzer?
If I recall my German classes you are correct. And Schmalz means fat or grease or oil I believe…
schmalzlers are great. But they don’t stay on the nose. Not for me.
@TomStrasbourg Another half schmalzler from Bernard is Postillon that precisely is half snuff and half schmalzler…very good! (if I understand what you were saying)
