Wilsons of Sharrow "Small Tin"

While the toque tins are really nice for keeping snuff from spilling some of my tins are a bit worn out on the edge and I’m kind of afraid of aluminum powder getting into my snuff.Anybody know what I’m talking about ?

@Snuff Head: They are not the “exact” same tin, but the same style. I think that McChrystal’s saving grace is that they only put 8g into a large tin, so it’s not overflowing.

With WoS tins I find it helps to pack the snuff down hard with your thumb when you first open them. It keeps its shape pretty well even after carrying around and you don’t get that overflow.

Funny the lids are all interchangeable. And I wish I could find the url of the tin manufacturer! I’ve said before that Wilsons overfill the tins so it’s not a big thing if a little is lost on first opening, Lol!

i despise the WoS 5g tins simply because they are very awkward to open if you have large hands and at times it’s hard to get a grip on them. hahaha

Thanks Tony

So we were both awake at silly o’clock during the night!

Lol, I got up to let the cat in. and take a pinch of Manjul!

So was I. I was sitting up reading ‘all about snuff’ by the society of snuffgrinders etc and taking regular pinches of my favourite toque blend, which no doubt contributed to me taking the day off today!

There’s a thread regarding hatred of Wilson’s tins. I’m not a fan of them myself. I always place a sheet of paper under the tin when I first pop it open to catch any spillage. I also use my trusty pocket knife blade/backup snuff spoon to scrape the extra snuff from the lid. My usual method is to take a plastic knife and shovel the snuff into empty Packard’s Club containers for dispensing and carrying. Toque tins are much better in my opinion. I do appreciate some of the tap out tins but find the sticky Bernard blends not well suited for the small hole. I gave up on bullets but do have some on hand for special situations. I’m just not a pincher. I tried it and found the technique didn’t suit me. If I have to dip straight from the tin I usually use my pocket knife. Otherwise, I dose out a Packard’s box size onto the back of my hand.

The bullet!!! Thanks Spyro! I’ve been out of Toque original for weeks now but I just remembered that I have a full bullet of it. Jackpot. Great feeling…like finding a bud that forgot I socked away somewhere.
