Yelloh! New here, but lurked around unregistered for long. Anyway, onto the business. I got the gift pack from WoS, incredibly fine snuff, that… but the catch: It smells AWFUL, I took out the carnage, tried it and it was horrible. So I tried all the others and they too are infected with a horrible smell, left the carnation out in the open now, and it seems to take the edge of it. Is this how WoS is supposed to be? I usually take some gletscher and president… stuck to the german types, but trying more out of curiosity. If this is what WoS is actually like (flavor on the pack as a side-scent and a dull, old attic-ish smell as the dominant), are there any other brands I should avoid as any similar will disgust me too? Or did I just get a bad or too fresh pack?
Well if it has an ammonia scent its fresh. It that’s the case leave it open for a few minutes till it dissipates then it will be good to go. If its not an ammonia scent maybe they were cross contaminated which could be a possibility if they all have the same scent. You also couldve received an old box. Fresh Wilson’s are mostly on the moist side and easy to use. Don’t let this keep you from Wilson’s either way they have excellent snuff. Hope this helped
it sure helps. I dunno if it matters that they were sealed and taped and… put in jail with 200 guards per tin and glued to the box and then taped to it? (not literally, theyre just sealed that well)
the smaller the tin the shittier the snuff. Bulk is the way to go but even the jump from 5 grms to 10 is noticeable and from 10 to 25 indicates buy in bulk if you can.

How comes? Ive heard of that before, just dont know why or how that is. Could you be kind enough to explain please?
I have a question… … is it about Winter Warmer?
old attic-ish smell suggests your tins are very old and have gone stale
WoS customer services are pretty good. Give them a call or an email.
I will try that, thank you, guys.
oh update, just tried the stinking carnation after letting it stand opened overnight, the horrible smell is almost gone, whats left reminds ne of a sweet flower-store…is that what the carnation is supposed to be like? was kinda shocked my coffee cream smelled like a mix of gøteborg rape and ettan løs… think Im gonna let that one get some air too

no its uhh… carnation, extra crumbs of comfort, coffee cream, orange choco, mild and camphor and cinnamon
So if it was not Winter Warmer there are two options: a) snuff is really fresh and just needs some air b) snuff is really old and nothing will help But if you say the bad smell is almost gone, I’d say it’s rather a) than b).

Ive left it opened for long, its almost gone, but so is the scent it says on the tin aswell. I think ill just send a complaint… cause surely extra coc is supposed to have a scent better than swedish snus…
WoS Carnation always reminded me of my mother’s floral fridge when she ran a florists shop. Nice mild floral. Extra CoC is menthol-spearmint mostly.
ah, I like spearmint and menthol, too bad I got crappy tins.
Only moist WoS I’ve tried was Best Dark
i find an actual fresh WoS to be my favourite snuff! moist enough, easy to take, fine enough to burn and give good nic. the only reason i dont use WoS all the time is because their tins are so bad and the snuff dries out incredibly easily. for example, i had firedrac in my snuffbox for a few days and it was fine. a WoS that was fresh to start with was dry after less than a day.
