This happens sometimes. Generaly my experience is that much lauded snuffs are great. I personaly find McCrystals snuffs to have a gross base (I always detect a souriness that other snuffs lack, I swear it is something about my nose). Then the toque peanut butter doesn’t agree with my sense of smell somehow it really grosses me out I can’t put my finger on why (like the half naked woman in the famous turkish movie “the deathless doctor satan”, seriously she is shriveling but I can’t see one thing that would make her so). Though I when it happens the other way it’s much worse since that becomes a snuff that probably won’t be made any longer, for some reason I really love the old poschel snuff cheif bull which they don’t seem to make anymore. Seriously it’s the fakest random fruit scented snuff I ever tried and I loved it. It seems I’ll never snuff that one again. So basicly just saying it’s better to say I’ll never snuff this one again becuase you choose to then to have it decieded for you.
Bumping this thread ‘cos I got my tin of T & M t’other day. Well now, what an incredibly nice snuff I find. Yeah, the orange is subtle, but so it is in marmalade!! Go and eat some, and it sure ain’t like you’re eatin’ an orange!! Marmalade is way sweeter, and if you only like the thin cut stuff, it ain’t that orangey, just a lingering taste of it. Anyway, great snuff and mixes well with Toque Christmas Pudding. Spent a whole day snuffin’ nothing but… oooooooo toasty, spicy, clovey, citrusy, cinnamony wonderment of beauty and bombs…
To me T&M tastes like a mix of Natural Toast and St. Clements
@Nachman Same here, when I got my Mr Snuff order all the 10 gm toque were like that, the T&M had no orange smell I can detect, it was stale upon arriveal I suppose, the Lime Toast is a little off as well, that my explain why the Espresso I got in the same order was disappointing, very weak if any coffee scent. The Toque snuffs were all in bagggies and all had spilled into the baggies, the other snuffs (F&T WoS) were sealed. Disappointing to get stale snuff when I made a large order.
@n9inchnails Nail on the head there…perfect description!!
I really love t&m! I noticed that the orange smell was much more pronounced when i got to the bottom of the last tin i finished. The last 10-20 pinches had way more flavor than all the first pinches. Anybody ever experience something similar with this or any other snuff??
Just got this and first impression is very good; bittersweet orange marmalade scent, quite sharp but pleasant and lovely toast base. Goes well with tea&biscuits&marmalade like F&T Seville.
@Tobe i realy like this one ! I do detect a hint of citrus. Very nice and for a toast good to snuff. I will dig in this one some more today.
@Marielle32 It is good! I don’t hear too much said about it, but to me it’s one of the best Toque snuffs there is.
I have a tin 25g that must be as old as the first offerings that toque sold. Have always kept in the freezer in a mason jar. Several months ago I placed an order, grabbed a new tin of T&M in the mix. Old VS. New has changed to the more toast but still has great orange scent. Just to say the vintage T&M still is as good as the current mix. (8 years oldish) I still prefer and hope when my newer ages it will be the same or better.
