I just openend a tin of Toque Grapefruit and I either got a bad batch or this stuff has NO flavor. When first opened I smelled what I guess is the amonia smell you guys talk about. I tried a spoon of it and I didn’t get the slightest hint of grapefruit or anything else. My brother is not a snuffer but he was curious so he tried a tiny bit and he said it burned but he didn’t get a scent either. Should I air out the amonia smell or did I just get a bad tin? I guess I can cure it with a grapefruit…or maybe it just has weak flavor?
I picked up a can of Toque USA Citrus the other day and found the scent to be *very* light. I wonder if it’s a citrus thing?
I’m not sure I read the reviews on it and they all rave about the grapefruit scent…I got nothing at all not even a light hint. I liked the texture and burn though.
I would let it air out for a little bit stirring it occasionally to get the ammonia scent out. That scent can overpower snuff scents. I personally kinda like the ammonia scent when a new order comes it. It also lets me know its fresh.
Of all the citrus scents, Grapefruit and Tangerine seem to be the most fleeting. Did you buy it directly from Toque or from a second party?
I have tried Toque Grapefruit and also could not detect any scent. It could be that it fades quickly, but the ammonia in your tin would indicate freshness. Perhaps it is a genetic thing. Some people detect the scent, some don’t. Come to think of it, I don’t remember smelling any scent to grapefruits when I ate them either.

So maybe it’s fresh but the scent fades so quickly the ammonia outlasts the Grapefruit?
However having said all that, it is one of my favourite scents and I’m happy to replace any that have lost their flavour as I really want snuffers to get the wonderful scent of fresh cut grapefruit.
Yeah I’m kind of sad it didn’t work out. The thought of a good grapefruit snuff had me pretty excited. This was my first shot at Toque but I’ll give them another chance since there are so many other flavors to choose from that I was curious about.

And thats why I always buy my Toque directly from Toque, that way you know it will always be fresh.
Peal just the color off your favorite type of grapefruit and place it in a box with a few day’s worth.it will pick up the scent without over hydrating. or use the snuff to mix with overly scented snuff. no need to toss it to the trash bin.
That’s the plan basement_shaman I enjoy the texture of this stuff too much to throw away. Aside from the flavor it seems like the perfect snuff. I look forward to trying other kinds of toque.

@roderick I just got the tin today and I did notice a big difference so did my roommate. Thanks again. I brought it to work so I will be sniffing it for the next 9 hours.
