So I guess it’s Stalinist/Marxist/Socialist that we have the ingredients listed on food packages. And I guess that it’s also Stalinist/Marxist/Socialist that we don’t allow lead in a childs toy.
The commies are the ones who put lead into capitalist children’s toys, haha. Well, the ingredient lists are half-assed…WTF is “natural flavors?” Either put your entire secret formula on there (which I think is pretty anti-capitalistic to require companies to give away their formulas), or leave it up to the companies to put whatever they feel like on there or omit, as long as it is truthful (sounds pretty capitalistic to me).
No, the “commies” didn’t do it, the American corporations that make the toys did it. Natural Flavors is equal to “Proprietary”. I wouldn’t expect for Roderick to say what his “Natural Flavors” are the same way I don’t expect for Sprite to list their exact formula. There is a level of proprietary information, which… is very Capitalistic. Simply telling companies that they can put it on there or not is silly. How many companies would tell you that there is 2,000mg of sodium per serving?
Well, if we did not have anti-capitalistic child labor laws, we could give four year old American children jobs instead of those commies. ;p Haha, so you agree with my satire?
No, I don’t agree with leaving the regulation in the companies hands.
Uhhh…that is part of the satire. *hides my copy of A Modest Proposal from you* haha
A Modest Proposal was not satire but serious libertarian policy tract.
I just have had a lot of pent up grief for the FDA, sorry for any mislabeled angst. The way they handled electronic cigarettes absolutely baffled me. I live in senator Herb Kohl’s home state, and he was not my candidate of choice. His new PACT bill doesn’t impress me either. If this is a bill designed to curb black market cigarettes, why attack all forms of smokeless tobacco as well? Granted i don’t socialize with many teens these days, i really don’t see any youth walking around with cans of Skruf or sniffing snuff from a bullet. Logically if a tobacco product is several dozen times less socially harmful than another, can’t we find a way to impose less regulations on the said product? I believe parents in this country need to be held responsible for their children illegally purchasing tobacco on-line, just like it is their responsibility to make sure their children don’t access adult material. Its easy enough to block tobacco sites with a net filter program, and some free ones are available if parents wanted to take the time. Why punish law abiding, tax paying adults, and honest tobacconists. Thats just my 2 cents.
This is such a tin foil hat moment. 1. People are buying cigs by mail, government loses revenue. -> Ban mailing cigs. 2. People switch to the next cheapest thing, smokeless and e-cigs. -> As a contingency plan, include those items as well. 3. Only options left are either a) abide and buy government approved items with high tax or b) break the law, get caught and ultimately fined to death. It’s all a conspiracy between The Man and the Big Tobacco Companies (or BTC as I like to call them). In conclusion, there aren’t many types of government which can react to the changing times (mainly to technology and globalization). Those that can, are usually known as dictatorships. P.S: I may be paranoid, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t out to get me.
I agree so much Mittens. I find myself very aligned with Ron Paul, and he very firmly voted against it - its just sad there isn’t many more like him. Tobacco itself is just a plant. Big tobacco is a malevolent torrent of corruption and greed. The fact that the companies adding lethal chemicals to cigarettes have any sway at all is a scary thing. Ive lost so many of my family to R.J. Reynolds and yet i smoked Camel filters for 12 years ex post facto. Ive given so many thousands of dollars away to them and for what? I’m sorry, but snuff and snus are so much more sophisticated and tons safer. Not only do i taste food better now, my new tobaccos of choice are complex and fragrant! Why cant they worry about more pressing concerns! Herb Kohl, who climbed up the political ladder fueled by his success as a cutthroat retail tycoon is just the type of person to push this bill, someone who has done nothing but bulldoze through local competition with a mega-corporate mentality. And definitely someone who loves to !@#! on the little man. Screw PACT.
Wait would I be able to bet on the name of his store by his last name. If so wow no wonder that place sucks so much.
And to make it even more interesting, Kohl’s is owned by British-American Tobacco. LOL.
Just tell the FDA that your snuff contains Aspartame and they’ll pass it right through.
