I’m not too bothered what the government does with tobacco, as long as I can get some snuff up into my nostrils and its cheaper than cigs I’m all happy.
My point is we pretty much have all the same opinion on tobacco policies, which is they are hitting too large and they are going too far and that we might see our dear hobby getting swallowed along. The problem with not allowing these topics in a specific section is, I suspect many of us will avoid bringing the subject in this forum by fear of getting banned, even if the comment does not cross the line of acceptability by your definition. I would be very happy myself to hear about news on the battles some are doing in their own country against bold anti tobacco policies… That being said, I leave it to mods opinion.
The reason cigarettes are bad is the manufacturer makes them. Roll your own from whole leaf tobacco without filters and you have a great tasting cigarette. Tobacco is a natural filter and you draw less deeper into your lungs without a filter. I don’t condone smoking cigarettes nor do I condemn them. Pipe tobacco is way more interesting and my smoke of choice
Big fan of Whole Leaf Cigarettes here. They are absolutly nothing like pre-packaged-posion. None of that clingy, dirty feeling/smell for one. Much less of a “come down”, and the pressing urge for another right when you want it. Stems make great snuff as well.
I have read that modern prerolled cigarettes in America are about 10% sugar, sometimes more. Just a difference between prepackaged cigarettes and actual tobacco.
@Kebamp Please go back and read my first comment again perhaps one of us has misunderstood the other. There’s nothing in the rules against discussing existing or potential policies, laws or regulations. We have reams and reams of threads on the PACT Act alone. If particular politicians, parties or other persons need to be named that’s ok too, just so long as its kept factual not opinion based and certainly must not be vindictive or spiteful etc. Also we don’t ban people in any sudden or way, except in extreme cases. Usually one of the mods will ask someone to tone down or rephrase a post or will in certain rare cases edit or delete a post if it goes to far. We’ve had to ban very few people in our history, and usually these individuals had plenty of warnings and were long term trouble-makers. We have sometimes long discussions about how to handle situations, and I think overall we’re pretty moderate moderators if you excuse the pun.
I have smoked cigarettes for over 40 years and have seen just about every attempt made to change labels thinking it would change people and it doesn’t. We find ways to laugh about them and move on like when Malboro came out with special blend and they were cheaper, everyone said that they were made from the clippings that fell on the floor and that mix made them special lol As far as politic’s… I have to agree that they can cause problems. On FB, people started defriending folks during the elections and said hurtful things that although sometimes are funny, do have a negative effect. Just an opinion
Yeah, there are plenty of forums out there where I already talk politics so really no need to do that here.
reminds me of something I read where an anti was like can you believe people still smoke. And I thought you dumb ignorant fack fuce. Tobacco and humanity go way way back. Some of the oldest graves of humans have had tobacco in them, indicating that was something they wanted to have just in case you can bring it with you.
on politics I’d rather be friends with you guys then right. I have facebook for pissing off people dumb enough not to share my political views.
Getting back to what I believe was the original point of this thread, there is no doubt that smoking is bad for you, and due to what it does I grieve every Christmas for the loss of my friend Lisa from lung cancer five days before her 40th birthday, nine years ago. Incidentally, she smoked roll-your-owns rather than readymades because she felt they were healthier. I would much rather see all the smokers where I work hang around the doorway enjoying a pinch of snuff rather than have to walk through the smelly vapours of their habit. I know it’ll never happen, but I wish it would.
It’s great to see people choosing healthier alternatives to their vices. I’m still snuffing vicariously as I wait and try out different potential solutions for my nasal irritation- so far I’ve exhausted my options given by Western medicine(except for the advice that it’ll get better in time). I’m thinking of visiting an herbalist soon (Chinese or Western). Hopefully I can get back on the snuff wagon, and cut out- or nearly cut out the ryo’s. Snuff if you can folks, do it for “The Ol’ Gipper”- hopefully I can join y’all again very soon!
HR_pufnsnuff I don’t care what people say cigs definatily shortened her life. I feel for you. Glad we can enjoy snuff because well I like being alive.
Always sorry to hear of a friend lost due to smoking
