I have only one tin of L.260 left…I need more…must hold out for paycheck (I order a buttload of different snuff for each order I place).
That “hay” scent that started this thread is simple: Good Virginia tobacco, flue cured, has a grassy/hay scent inherent in the leaf, along with a larger % of sugars than burley. You can toast it, but that won’t make the natural scent go away. Some Virginias also have a natural citrus note…some lemon with grapefruit and lime lurking about. Burley is the best for menthol/medicated snuff IMHO.
From how I felt last time I tried Hedges it’s the scent of his nostril hairs going up in flames.
@HR_pufnsnuff yeah, but it’s minty fire. That’s the best part!
Get rid of those nostril hairs they serve no purpose. Also they are unsightly when they become your mustache.
I tried pulling them out. It may have made me cry a little.

I have to maintain contant vigilance for this myself. Nothing my moustace scissors can’t handle though.
I finally managed to try some L260 and boy, am I confused! The menthol is there all right, as is camphor and, I’d say, eucalyptus. What bothers me is a kind of “grassy” (I don’t know the proper term) note that emerges after the blast and that smells almost like hay about to ferment or something like that - a note that I’m not sure I like. It’s a pity, because the actual “medication” blast is rather awesome and this “grass” thing almost dumbs it down…
I actually feel the opposite, I don’t get a grassy hay smell more of like a warm biscuit smell, the tobacco base is what makes Hedges my favorite English menthol so far. It’s really really nice to my nose.
