Hedges L260

Nobody has difficulty using this one? It makes an absolute mess of my nose. I get all runny and cant take new pinches to my nose without my fingers get all brown and wet from barely touching my nose. My nose is an absolute mess like a dog with a cold.

Mmm…the first snuff I tried (back in the 70’s) and the one my granny used to take - much to my mother’s chagrin. It is, indeed, a prince among its mentholated brethren and a surprisingly subtle example of the snuff-blender’s art. I tend to use Sharrow Mentholated these days but I must pop to my local purveyor at the weekend to reacquaint myself with this noble, age-old blend.

First snuff I tried, and very nearly my last. My friend and I bought some on a lark when we were about 18, and snorted it. As you can imagine, tears and snot shot out of our faces, and we wrote it off as a curiosity. Mentholated snuffs still seem to have this effect on me, even with the better technique that I now have. I just don’t enjoy the ā€˜frozen nostril’ feeling that they give. Hedges is not the worst snuff I have tried (I’m looking at you, Red Bull!) but I don’t think I’ll ever buy more.

I love L260, last snuff before bed and first upon arising. However, I’m hoping 6 Photos 666 is as good as it is WAY more economical. 200 grams of 666 for $20 US vs. $70 US for a like amount of Hedges. We’ll see when my next MS order arrives. If anyone has an opinion, I’d love to hear it.

Is the 666 milder on the menthol and more natural (as in natural menthol and not synthesized menthol)? Please let me know when and if you figure this out. I love menthol snuffs… McC’s OG and Ozona President for example. And I’d like to continue exploring new menthol snuffs, but when they are too extreme, such as L260, then they are too extreme. I’ve been curious about the Indian ones as people seem to say they are more natural and easy to take. Any recommendations?

6 Photos 66 is my pick of the Indian menthols. Just fantastic and very cleansing. Good for sinisitus.

Personally I find the menthol level in Hedges too much for my enjoyment. The stuff is so strong that when I open the tin and hold it under my nose the menthol fumes burn my eyes.

Quick question - I understand Hedges’ is currently manufactured by Rizla. Who did it before then? Was it a family concern producing what Dr Hedges had invented, or was that the case in the first place, and then they sold it a ā€œtobacco giantā€ that then couldn’t be bothered? On top of which, is it Hedges’ or Hedge’s? Great stuff though; I’m kind of biased towards it because it’s originally from my neck of the woods(ish) - first time I tried it I felt like I’d shot two menthol bullets into my brain. Took the stuff down the pub and offered it to a friend and then stood back enjoying the results…

Hedges L260 is one of my favorite snuffs, I use it every day. Supposedly it’s notorious for being high on menthol, but I guess having used it every day I’ve just developed a high tolerance for menthol that still leaves me wanting more. So I actually wish Hedges would up the menthol a bit more. I’ve tried the only snuff that reviewers have said is stronger on menthol than Hedges (Wilson’s of Sharrow Dynamite), but I didn’t find it much higher on menthol, so I’m still on the lookout for something even stronger than Hedges. @-)

Looking at a sealed tin right now, it simply says ā€œHEDGESā€, beneath that, L260, then The Snuff. So, IDK where the possesive, if any, should go.

Hedges L260 is favorite to me too. Its a King with no doubt

@Vostok as far as I know its made by Imperial Tobacco. They’ve owned it for probably 40 years now.

Because of this thread, I’ve revisited this snuff. I wasn’t a fan of menthols when I started but I’m a big fan of McChrystals now. So, I thought, get a tin of Hedges from the local tobacconists and I’m kind of glad I did. It’s strong in every way. The menthol, the nicotine and the image. A classic, no doubt.

Snafu Medicated not much easier .6 Photo menthols and medicated are my speed. I do like O&G, L260 should wake the dead 8-X

L260 is probably my favourite! I really enjoy it in the morning and at night……for that matter I enjoy it ALL the time! Its depth and character take me to a place of bliss, that just soothes the soul!!

I love L260, followed by 6P 666, WoS Super Menthol, the list goes on to President, Glechterprise, Stiefe Prise(peppermint), and so on and so forth till my head is swimming in nicotine and freezing…

I think I am a menthol fiend as well. I take bigger pinches of Wilsons dynamite than anything else. Really nice thing to wake you up. Odd thing is I hated menthol smokes.

ive only been using snuff a short while, and i really enjoy mcchrystals o&g. i was in a newsagents today and they had a few snuffs in so i bought a tin of hedges for when i finish the o&g, how do they compare?

@isaiah53 they are very similar. If you enjoy the O&G you will most definitely enjoy the L260. The L260 is more of a straight menthol (not as intense as its been made out to be) over a nice leathery tobacco base whereas the O&G has a slightly sweet and lemony/minty undertone (not sure what that is) instead of the straight menthol. You’ll see what I mean. They are both great , the L260 can’t be beat when you’re nursing a cold or some other such malady. I use the O&G just for some good menthol kick when I’m not congested and have kind of delegated the L260 to that purpose exclusively.

I like hedges L260 and I was given some FUBAR ā€˜medic’ to try the other day and I really liked it. I don’t think i could snuff menthols all day long but they are quite nice if you’ve been using a dry snuff to give you a bit of a run to blow out some dead snuff!
