L260 and a Cold

I’m grateful for my tin of Hedges L260 at the moment after catching a cold. As we all know when we have a cold our tastes change and we don’t always like what we usually do when we’re suffering. I’m snuffing less, but the odd top-up of L260 is going down very well.

Best medicated snuff, the King …Love it!

When I’m without a cold that stuff blocks me up instantly. I’m worried if I try it with a cold I might just die…

It’s not for me I’m afraid, whether I have a cold or not

Never tried the hedges, but I havent had a cold since I started using snuff regulary.

Mentholated snuffs are awful for me when I have a cold, I still do use them just because it feels soothing but they gunk up my nose something fierce. It’s really refreshing at first but within 120 seconds I’m more stopped up than ever. Best snuff for a cold/congestion, and I’ve said it a lot but whatever, is white snuff. It melts through congested sinuses like hydrochloric acid through a sidewalk. The spices in Royal George do it well too.

I have found that with Hedges, it’s a case of “less is more”. I dip the tip of my finger in, and insert/snuff making sure it doesn’t go up too far. If it does you’re in headrush city. I’m wondering if it might be good in hay fever season too.

Tough to beat Hedges for me: Always has a place in my rotation. I do find that it’s a bit too much straight from the tin, and tends to illicit a burst of ‘rebound congestion’. I always have a few spoons of it in a little fob snuff box I have on me. This seems to allow if to ‘season’ a bit and makes for a more pallatable pinch. If you’ve got a cold though my recommendation goes to Kalash (I think the number one decongestant in India!) - Works for me on he very occasions when I’m struck down with ‘man flu’ :))

Is Kailash a menthol one? The only “Indian” one I’ve tried so far is Fubar Medic and I quite like it but it is quite coarse.

@Thunderbird - Sure, is par excellance! Has what I can only really describe (in an unfortunately sterotypical type way) as a ‘corner shop’ type odour; kind of incense, spices, fairly representative of the Indian snuffs generally I guess, in that they are different to the typical ‘western’ scent profiles. Menthol level is just right too, but I think that some of the other casings have a decongestant effect too. It’s far from dry and course. very dark black, extremely moist and fine, I have to use a spoon for this one. If I’m blocked up this never fails to get things moving though

That sounds interesting, thanks. Might try that one on my next order.

Update; now my cold has entered a different phase I’m seriously onto the Fubar Medic and I’ve just had a pinch of Viking Dark that went down (or rather up) very well. It’s funny, no desire whatsoever to take my favourite snuff which is WoS Best SP. This has been a great lesson, I had thought I was going off both coarse/moist and menthol/medicated snuffs, but there is most definitely a time and a place.
