Garrett is what I started with and I recommend using it with a bullet. Easier to control that way, you can take smaller sniffs. I tried pinching the first time and I thought my sinuses were gonna burst into flame. Garrett did help me quit smoking so I won’t knock it ever. I still use it now and then as a change but English snuffs are immensely better in quality and easier on a newbie. As a close newbie like you dvsfaust I would suggest Fubar Grunt for a plain and Toque Berwick Brown if you want something scented. Those two are the ones I have found easiest to sniff. This is of course my humble opinion and as always ymmv.
So i picked up some of the W.E. Garrett scotch & sweet scotch today, i dont find it very harsh at all as howdydave said, maybe my nose has no nerve endings left lol. But im loving it so far, the straight scotch is a bit on the bbq side, like sittin by a grill lol…but i find that kinda pleasent
yeah, the quit is designed to help smokers quit, it seems to be a priority of toque. on my absinth tin it says ‘dont smoke, snuff toque’. as an ex smoker, i found snus to be useful, though so goddamn addictive, more so than cigarettes, probably because of the great feeling, its even easier than snuff, and i can use it inside. i use snus and snuff at the same time often because snuff doesnt seem to give me enough nic, i only go back to a rollup when i want a quicker hit, or im out (seems more social than smokeless). anyway, i recommend Quit based on its reviews, and as far as my easy to take non-menthol snuffs go, i enjoy fribourg and treyer santo domingo and De Kralingse Latakia AO 1860 most i think. both available on mrsnuff, but the latakia i got in a smaller box to try when i ordered snus from northerner.com. my first ever snuff was an enjoyable gawith hoggarth cherry, but the tap boxes are a bad idea for english snuff, it dries out too quick. id go for the tubs on stuff like the gawiths, unless your sure you will get through the box really quickly, it costs a little extra, but you get more, and if you dont like it, you can store it longer to see if you develop a taste for it eventually/can blend it with another snuff. as youve tried a few, im posting this here for reference for others too.
Hi Dvsfaust, mipasma is correct, it’s called Quit because it’s a strong tobacco snuff with a high nicotine content that has a 92% success in getting smokers to stop smoking. You might be interested to know that Hypnosis is the second most successful way to stop smoking with a 24% success rate after 6 months, patches have a 17% success rate and nicotine gum has a 12% success rate. Another tip when stopping smoking is to give up Tomatoes, Potatoes and Peppers (any deadly nightshade foods) at the same time as you switch due to their high nicotine content.
This is a joke post, right?
@howdydave I find most American scotches just the opposite. Superior is the strongest that I tried and it starts off like its tough, then quiets quickly and behaves its self

This is true. I don’t crave snuff. I use it because it’s very enjoyable but I get strong cravings for snus and makla. Weird.
Very glad to hear you like scotch snuff! I don’t think there’s any one good “beginner” snuff, as the wide range of recommendations in this thread shows. Considering how cheap it is I’d just order a few five-gram tins of all sorts of kinds. Some old-fashioned perfumed F&T, some menthol, some toast, something Indian, etc.
That’s how you do it. One from each page on Mr. Snuff or ten pack from Toque and you’ll find something you like. Trade what you don’t like.
