Good starter snuff

D

Simple question, good snuff for a newbie snuff user, ive been a smoker for 17yrs so im pretty use to nicotine…but not sure about strengths of snuff, and i HATE menthol, thanks in advance for any info!!

J

Toque quit is your best bet. It’s full of nicotine.

D

Toque quit, ok ill check it out, thanks for the info joesnuffer.

S

For a newbie I would suggest something a little easy to snuff. Berwick Brown - easy to snuff and not as easy to over sniff as Quit. But I do love Quit…

D

Why is it called quit? Is it just the name of the blend/type?

M

Try Willsons of Sharrows Tom Buck…It has pleasant bergamot aroma and beautiful tobacco scent…you can take tons daily…Dholakia Black is also easy to take but a little bit “messy”…you must always check your nose area…It is black as hell…but nicotine is big there…I agree with Joesnuffer…Quit would be good choice…full of vitamine N and very nice…

I think it means that you quit your smokers habits soon after you´ll try this…

D

Lol sounds good to me…been trying to quit for ever but crave nicotine to much, and from all this lit ive read snuff seems to be a great source minus all the horrid health risks that smoking carries, granted after almost 18 yrs of puffin i may already be S.O.L. as far as my health is concerned, been a smoker since i turned 12, so my lungs are extra harsh.

B

Most of the Samuel Gawith line, Moist, course and great scents. Their raspberry has no menthol and last forever in the nose. Black Coffee is amazing, So the Celtic Talisman & Elmo’s reserve and so more I need pages to list.

D

Cool, been puttin a list together so i can order some snuff, wish i could find it at a local shop but in Iowa seems to be outa the question, more then enuff ‘dip’ style snuff/chews avilible here, but i like having teeth so no dip in my lip lol

D

Wow wasnt aware of the nic in them foods…i eat alot of all 3

B

Wow that is what I had for breakfast with onions and egg whites. I am a nicotine fiend

D

Lol basement =))

C

If you like sweet, menthol and a little aniseed I would try Poschl Ozona President, another great menthol McChrystal’s Original & Genuine love this snuff, if you like the smell of tobacco and leather try Samual Gawith McCombie

T

For something easy to take with lots of nicotine I’d go for Viking Dark. I haven’t tried any of the other Viking snuffs but I think they could do the job as well from what I’ve heard.

P

I think starter snuff should be focused mainly on the grind and moisture level. Toque, being excelent on flavor and quality, was nearly impossible for me in the start up phase, kinda turned me from it. I still have occasinal trouble with its grind to this day. Don’t get me wrong, love me some Lime Toast. Viking Dark i can take all day, start to finish, w/out trouble. It satisfys very good as well. All the De Kraingsle(SP, the Dutch one) have a very forgiving grind, a good moisture level, as well as excelent flavor and potency. Just my 2 cents.

W

Camphor and Mild. You can take great whopping heaps of the stuff and not go wrong. Stefan

So i found a shop near my house that carries dry snuff, all they have is W.E. Garrett & Sons scotch and sweet scotch. Would these be alright for a newbie to try out? And whats the Nicotine content on these if anyone knows by chance

H

W.E. Garrett and the rest of the American Scotches are VERY harsh compared to the non-American snuffs.

T

Garrett is what I started with and I recommend using it with a bullet. Easier to control that way, you can take smaller sniffs. I tried pinching the first time and I thought my sinuses were gonna burst into flame. Garrett did help me quit smoking so I won’t knock it ever. I still use it now and then as a change but English snuffs are immensely better in quality and easier on a newbie. As a close newbie like you dvsfaust I would suggest Fubar Grunt for a plain and Toque Berwick Brown if you want something scented. Those two are the ones I have found easiest to sniff. This is of course my humble opinion and as always ymmv.

D

So i picked up some of the W.E. Garrett scotch & sweet scotch today, i dont find it very harsh at all as howdydave said, maybe my nose has no nerve endings left lol. But im loving it so far, the straight scotch is a bit on the bbq side, like sittin by a grill lol…but i find that kinda pleasent

yeah, the quit is designed to help smokers quit, it seems to be a priority of toque. on my absinth tin it says ‘dont smoke, snuff toque’. as an ex smoker, i found snus to be useful, though so goddamn addictive, more so than cigarettes, probably because of the great feeling, its even easier than snuff, and i can use it inside. i use snus and snuff at the same time often because snuff doesnt seem to give me enough nic, i only go back to a rollup when i want a quicker hit, or im out (seems more social than smokeless). anyway, i recommend Quit based on its reviews, and as far as my easy to take non-menthol snuffs go, i enjoy fribourg and treyer santo domingo and De Kralingse Latakia AO 1860 most i think. both available on mrsnuff, but the latakia i got in a smaller box to try when i ordered snus from northerner.com. my first ever snuff was an enjoyable gawith hoggarth cherry, but the tap boxes are a bad idea for english snuff, it dries out too quick. id go for the tubs on stuff like the gawiths, unless your sure you will get through the box really quickly, it costs a little extra, but you get more, and if you dont like it, you can store it longer to see if you develop a taste for it eventually/can blend it with another snuff. as youve tried a few, im posting this here for reference for others too.

S

Hi Dvsfaust, mipasma is correct, it’s called Quit because it’s a strong tobacco snuff with a high nicotine content that has a 92% success in getting smokers to stop smoking. You might be interested to know that Hypnosis is the second most successful way to stop smoking with a 24% success rate after 6 months, patches have a 17% success rate and nicotine gum has a 12% success rate. Another tip when stopping smoking is to give up Tomatoes, Potatoes and Peppers (any deadly nightshade foods) at the same time as you switch due to their high nicotine content.

This is a joke post, right?

M

@howdydave I find most American scotches just the opposite. Superior is the strongest that I tried and it starts off like its tough, then quiets quickly and behaves its self

This is true. I don’t crave snuff. I use it because it’s very enjoyable but I get strong cravings for snus and makla. Weird.

H

Very glad to hear you like scotch snuff! I don’t think there’s any one good “beginner” snuff, as the wide range of recommendations in this thread shows. Considering how cheap it is I’d just order a few five-gram tins of all sorts of kinds. Some old-fashioned perfumed F&T, some menthol, some toast, something Indian, etc.

Z

That’s how you do it. One from each page on Mr. Snuff or ten pack from Toque and you’ll find something you like. Trade what you don’t like.
