I am looking at a snuff box full of this superb snuff as I write, and it is a rich, dark golden brown. The grind is medium and has the same slightly moist consistency of the standard Toque ‘flour’. The aroma is fairly simple - and at first encounter not that pleasant to be honest. There is a kind of musty, ammonia tang with some sharpness to it and just sniffing it in the container doesn’t seem to hold much hope of it being a good snuff. But it is, it’s possibly a classic snuff - for one sinple reason: it kicks. As I understand it, Quit is made from the Nicotine rich mid-leaves; the foliage without it’s stems and stalks. So there is no dilution from the less potent, more fibrous stalk matter. What you end up with is a snuff of fairly average taste but of magnificent strength. Now, strength is about how much nicotine migrates across the mucosa and into the bloodstream, it is not about nose-burn. We tend to think snuffs like HDT are very strong because you really know about it when you take a pinch; it’s very fine so it gives a lot of burn, but, really, a lot of fine snuffs are no stronger, ounce for ounce, than an SP. The greater surface area makes it an efficient way of delivering the nic. but it doesn’t make it a stronger snuff. Quit is a whole lot different. Take a pinch and you get a slightly tangy, slightly ammonia flavour but no real sense of potency. But give it a couple of minutes and those nicotine levels start to rise and rise. Nictotine by stealth. Unlike the cigarette world, the snuff industry does not have to publish nicotine levels, so most discussions about strength are subjective, but if the day ever comes I would bet this is the strongest commonly available snuff. Try it with caution if you are not too tolerant of nic in high doses. But if you are, and you have not tried this snuff, just enjoy.
I read about Toque Quit before my verst snuff order, and wanted to use it to quit smoking, so I included 100g in my purchase. Even though I could take other fine snuffs with no problems, Toque Quit always fired straight into my throat/lungs and was never a pleasurable experience. I was also not a fan of any of the plain tobacco snuffs. A year later I have refined my technique, my palette, and my appreciation for base tobaccos, so I gave it another try. Now I absolutely adore Quit and am glad I ordered so much and kept it well sealed. Any of you that are new to snuffs and haven’t tried it, start with a small tim, and if it doesn’t agree with you, try again every now and then. It’s well worth the effort. Some people do well with it straight off the bat. Lucky them!
Great snuff! The flavor and grind are essentially identical to Toque Natural, but due to the vein and stem removal, you will get a much higher nicotine kick. If you are looking to quit smoking, than this will surely help you. When I started snuff, I gradually dropped from 12 or so cigarettes a day to 1 a day, and I wasn’t even trying to quit, and I had smoked for 25 years! This snuff was a big part of that. Just becuase it is called ‘Quit’ is no reason for non-smokers to stay away from it. This is a well made snuff, and among Toque’s finest offerings. I will always be sure to have a bit of this in my collection. Edit: Now keep it in bulk. Good snuff! Rating: 5/5 Nictotine: High Grind: fin (demifin?) Moisture: medium-dry Style: Plain
Do not quit QUIT…One of the best Toques…It is strong, potent, heavy, masculine…I allways see cowboys and horses when I take It…
