A/P by De Kralingse

I love the scent of the A/P, but for some reason is clogs me up like no other snuff I’ve tried. Still, it’s worth it.

love it too. Very woody smell. Does the opposite of clog me up.

This is one of the snuffs that is on my list to try. The dutch snuffs interest me quite abit, I am from a very dutch area in michigan, we even have our own authentic windmill from the netherlands a few miles from me. Which of the molens snuffs is the best in your opinion?

Hmmmm Toss up between … erm… nope, I don’t think there is a best from de Kralingse. They are all so darn good!

If they have the new Bon Bon it is very good. It is quite course and has a mild sweet choclatey scent. The nicotine comes on slow, but stays for a long time. The 1860 is good too if you like latakia tobacco. More of a nose burn than the Bon Bon. Smokey latakia scent. I smoke English blends in my pipe, so it is a natural for me.

@Pilgrim1 Haha, Holland, Michigan, eh! Very nice area…I picked up a pair of wooden shoes when I was passing through many years ago, as strange as that sounds, and yes they are actually comfortable. I haven’t had a bad snuff from de Kralingse yet

Prins Regent is my favorite, but all the ones I have tried are very good.

Just also got it in, love it! Strong though!

I also am a smoker of English type pipe tobaccos, and the lat. based snuffs do really flip a switch in the register or psyche. I belong to a pipe club, and most of the members are definitely latakia addicts, just walk into the room wherever we’re meeting! But to the point, you should have seen the reactions by the folks to whom I offered a pinch, most were impressed, and very suprised such a snuff existed! In my opinion they are very nice, the orange scented and the pine scented were especially nice surprises to my ol’ sniffer. Also the non latakia based ones that I’ve tried so far are also good, I hope you keep expanding your repotoir!

I still need to try the orange. I think my favorites currently of their line are the peppermunt which I honestly consider to be pure candy. I love the pompadour which is just amazing. It’s clove plus citrus which is really amazing because although you don’t really pick up on the citrus it really enhances the clove. I can’t wait to try the orange.

I love both the AP and AO. The AO is my go to snuff after a pipe smoke (I smoke heavey English blends) and there are those times when only AP will hit the spot. Well worth a try IMO

I just got 5g smash boxes worth of this (and the 1860), from MarsCigars (I needed to buy more of the ever elusive Czech tools and get some pipe nails something apparently unheard of and unobtainable locally and needed to make the order worth it). I havve been avoiding these just because I’ve only seen them in 25g quantities over at MrSnuff and wanted to try a smaller amount before buying… and I already think I will more than likely be a repeat (the larger at MrSnuff) buyer… I haven’t tried the 1860 yet, but I’ve only just for the first time tried the A/P. This is also my first time ever with any snuff from this maker (with all its names) it came packed very tightly in a very full to the brim 5g smashbox (MarsCigars says they ‘sell from bulk’ and were very generous in packing this 5g smashbox, I bet if I relocated it I’d find its actually a bunch more than 5g), its super super moist, so much so that the first thing I notice is its even harder to snuff than Taxi (which incidentally I did finally master taking Taxi but also the second tin of Taxi I got wasn’t nearly as moist as the first). In its super moistness this that I have is like the first super moist Taxi I had, or like NTSU, Babaton, my bottle of Railroad Mills Maccoboy, etc in that way. I thought I had it satisfactorily sniffed but it fell back out, its taken a few tries. Right away it makes my nose literally feel quite warm (which is pretty unusual, I can’t say I’ve actually had a snuff do that before), its a very nice feeling but at the same time I wonder if its a sign of risk of future clogging up if I keep taking this snuff for a long time, sniff after sniff. Not sure I will be sniffing this snuff that way anyway as another unusual thing about it is I really feel its nicotine. (I’m fairly immune and not getting it where you’d expect from the so-called stronger ones but a few surprise me… this one is now the second one, along with FUBAR Coconut are the two exceptions where I can ‘get it’ and noticeably so). I got a little dizzy and my heart started thumping, so I’m going to be reviewing and admiring and getting to know this snuff at a slower (perhaps saner then too lol) rate than I usually would. It has smokey scotch or toast smell in there I like a lot (these, toasts and scotches are my favorite types of snuff) I have to be honest if I hadn’t already read that its pine I am smelling I might not have recognized that’s what the other is. Since I have read it before, I can smell that’s whats in there, but if I hadn’t known I would have sworn it was actually the smell of fresh Christmas trees, some growing and some cut down at a Christmas tree farm. in fact that’s what this reminds me of, its a Christmas memory, especially with the other wood smell, its exactly like going out to the tree farm with your dad, picking out a tree, cutting it down, petting the pet deer (you know the one, they always have at least one pet deer with a red ribbon tied like a bow tie around its neck with a bell on it), then going inside to pay the man for your tree and in there he’s got the wood stove going to keep him warm.

I suspect that the base for De Kralingse latakia snuffs is actually mostly dark-fired Kentucky. There might be some latakia in it, as well. I have no evidence to back up this claim, just my nose. Fine snuffs, all the same.

The base for De Kralingse Latakia is Cyprian Latakia.

Whistlrr : Dry it out a bit… I also hade a sample pack from jaap of Bon Bon by the kralingse, came in very wet… Just leave it open for half a day, and it should be fine and easy to snuff…A/P is one of my favorites.

Nachman: “The base for De Kralingse Latakia is Cyprian Latakia.” May I ask what is source? I still maintain it’s Kentucky and virginia, plus some latakia perhaps. In fact, sampling more of this, I’m thinking there might be no latakia at all in this… I’ve ground some latakia (both Syrian and Cyprian) snuff myself, and they are totally different animals. Quite foul animals, I might add.

“The base for De Kralingse Latakia is Cyprian Latakia”. According to the chap who makes it, it’s actually Kentucky and Virginia tobaccos.

I’d imagine the source is Jaap Bes, the miller of De Kralingse snuff, since he posts on this board

it must just be me, have tried several molens snuffs, and dont get on with any of them - i actually dont like the smoky edge - each to their own I suppose (oh - and the boxes are useless!)

The Virgina based ones don’t have the smoke. All excellent ones! (Although I like the Latakia ones too, but less frequently)
