A/P by De Kralingse

This is in the NicotineRush order that I am placing right now. I will let you know what I think in 2 days. I can’t wait.

awesome.

Just received this in an order from nicotinerush tonight. I had previously been so taken with the craftsmanship obvious in the Chococreme that I decided to make point and explore as much of the current line as possible. The A/P does not disappoint! Any sensory review I could possibly come up with would be a repeat of what has been said before. I will say that the balance of aromas in this at once simple yet layered snuff re-enforces my first impression of quality in manufacture. But of course I do have a question. What is the correct name of this brand of snuff? Dutch Windmills on nicotinerush de Kralingse on Snuffreviews Molens on MrSnuff and a few others it seems. Molens de Kralingse at snuffstore Dutch Windmill/de Kralingse at Mars The label on the containers indicates that it would be deKralingse.

I believe that is part of the mystery of Jaap’s snuffs…

Stichting De Kralingse Snuif en Specerijen compagnie: De Ster en De Lelie Is the proper name. Without the aid of babelfish and knowing almost no Dutch: _________ the _________ Snuff and Spice Company: the Star and the Lilly. Molens means mills. I don’t know what Stichting or Kralingse translate to. Star and Lilly are the two mills, each has a name. Look at the company logo: you will see a Fluer-de-lis (lilly) superimposed over a star. Jaap, no doubt, will be along to correct any errors in my reasoning.

Per the powers of Google translation: The Foundation Kralingse Snuff Company and Spices: The Star and The Lily Xander, I had no idea that the abbreviation on the lable, “Stg” was for Stichting, thanks for that. Funny, I’ve read what I could about the mills, familiar with the names of the two but as often as I’ve pondered the logo I never made the connection. My father used the old saw of, “Call me what you will, just please don’t call me late to dinner”. I s’pose as long as everyone knows what’s being spoken of all’s well. Molens, or de Kralingse or Dutch Windmills… certainly produce good snuff

Hello all of you, The mystery is that some of our customers like to put their own names to our products. One not listed by OTD is “Zwei Mühlen” which is used in Germany by SnuffStore.de. If there is in the name a connection with the windmills in which we produce, or with the former village of Kralingen, now Rotterdam, where the mills are located , that is O.K. with us. Our own labels show a star covered by a French lilly, which are the symbols for the names of the mills. Stg. short for Stichting indeed means Foundation as Xander said. This means we are not a commercial company. The main objective is to preserve the historical snuffmanufacturing and spices milling for future generations. This is all done by volunteers. As a byproduct of our activities we produce snuff and ground spices, which we sell to cover our costs. This is all done by: Stg. de Kralingse Snuif en Specerijen Compagnie De Ster en De Lelie. Jaap Bes.

Thank you Jaap. I had sent an e-mail asking the same, but as you have answered it here… So we can call it what we will, just continue to support the Stichting? That will be a pleasure to do sir!

I just received a container of the A/P this afternoon. I quite like it, but I do have one question. How dry is this snuff supposed to be? I looked up the reviews of this at snuffreviews.com and there does not seem to be any consensus on the moisture rating. Some say it is “very moist,” while others describe it as “dry.” My container is bone dry – as dry as an American scotch. I’m guessing that the dryness is making this snuff a bit more harsh than it would otherwise be. Or so it seems to me.

I’ve the same observations kjoerup, the variance in the existing reviews and what I received is very dry as well. I will be attempting to add a bit of moisture to some, later today. If it improves an already great snuff well…

Mine started very moist and turned very dry becasue I did not keep it airtight.

Aye that Xander I received 8 different snuff from de Kralingse 2 days ago. As yet to try them all, savoring rather than rushing through. I will be transferring all into smashboxes to avoid that issue!

Hello Kjoerup and OTD, The A/P as one of the Latakia types should be a little moist. Probably the enviroment in which it was stored was dry. A possible method to rehydrate is to spread the snuff out on a dish or something like it. Put it in a closed container above a layer of water. Let it stand some time and the snuff will adsorb the water vapor and become moist. If you don’t want to wait so long you can add a drop or two water direct to the snuff stir well after each addition and let stand for a couple of hours. Jaap Bes.

I don’t know if this works for snuff, but when my pipe tobacco dries out I put it in a ziplock baggie with an apple slice and leave it in the fridge for a few days.

@snuffmiller I added some moisture to the Macouba I received by placing some in a small smash box, smash box was then placed, open, into a small plastic food container with a small bit of water in the bottom and then had the lid snapped on. About 8 hours and it was perfection! Thanks Jaap!

@OTD I also had Great results from the same method! Sometimes it doesnt even take 8 hours, I had some snuffs become moist after only 4 hours with the same method. and sometimes I like to use whiskey instead of water.

Does the whiskey add any flavor to it? I knew some guys that used to put bourbon in their Copenhagen cans and let them sit for a day or two. That was before they made bourbon flavored Cope tho.

I love the A/P; that and the Latakia are the only snuffs from Jaap that I’ve found I enjoy (out of six or seven so far). I do think that the pine scent is definitely pronounced in this one–only thing, it tends to clog up my nose after a bit.

I just received my AP today and it is a fine snuff. I must say I am in love with the entire line of de Kraling snuffs! I love the Chococreme, the Choco, the AP, the Pepermunt, the Prina Regent, Macuba, and I am hoping I also love the Latakia that I also got today. I like a lot of snuffs but I could easily live with just this one line. Great job on them, good stuff The AP has that wonderful pine scent, like walking through a pine forest on a spring day!

And I forgot to add that I have a sample of BonBon which is also a great snuff! I will be buying a box of that as soon as I see it for sale!
