@skeg i sometimes get a lot of juice recently, but then it starts to increase as i play with it. thats why i started using white portions, i get less.
I really wonder the no spitting factor. Lately I’ve tried snus, as one of my friend uses it to quit smoking (cannot remember the brand, if it even was the same every time), but I find it to generate enough juice to spit away. Enough to be uncomfortable to swallow. Is this somehow a matter of technique? Or a matter of brand choice? Or is it just a thing to get used to?
I don’t have much experience with Snus as I’ve only tried one brand & type as of yet. (soon to be remedied) I only know what I’ve read so please chime in if this is not correct. My understanding is there are different ways to manufacture Snus and so some types are more runny than others causing the desire to spit or swallow. I also noticed on the General brand Snus website they give the moisture content for each type and flavor of Snus. White portions of Snus are not sprayed with tobacco “juice” so it has far less moisture content and does not run or runs less. The one Snus I tried was a White portion and it produced very little, if any saliva for me. Regular (black colored) portions of Snus are sprayed with tobacco juice so there’s more moisture in it to begin with.
It also depends on where Snus is placed. The upper part of the mouth has less saliva glands compared to the lower part of the mouth that has more saliva glands. Snus is supposed to be placed in the upper part of the mouth for this reason.
I apologize if I’m being redundant and you already knew this. But it’s so much fun to be able to answer a question for a change I thought I’d take a chance. Plus I’m a big fan of Snus.
Hmm… Indeed I have kept it mostly on the lower part of the mouth, this might explain. Have to try out some other brands, when possible. Generally, thought, I agree with with Rogue. I like my oral tobacco as a sweet twist.
@SkeG despite me snusing semi regulary, I lower-lip it too. For flavor and better delivery. Upperdecking it just doesnt work for me.
After 3 months I’m going to add the sheer convenience of it, I’ve begun using some Thunder extra strong in the morning as soon as I get up and tbh it’s a far better pick me up than coffee, don’t even have to drag my fat ass out of bed to get it either. And then there’s the taste especially with some of the Jakobsson’s ones that I leave in well past the point where they give me any nic just because they taste so good.
@r25 i found that with jakobssons, i used them even though there wasnt really any nic (rather than being past it) because they taste so good! if only i could slam together skruf and jakobssons, it would make something beautiful. skruf special flavours are mild-nonexistent. good job i like regular.
frankly the flavor is more subtle so less annoying for the long haul. Chew is too much like candy and gets gross tasting after a while. The taste is harsher and not as smooth. I can snus anytime without spitting. The feel is better the taste is better. Snus doesn’t come out swinging nearly as hard but has more staying power. I find it a better product where the american chew seems to me like a pale imitation of snus.
american oral snuffs have too much of a flavor bang to enjoy all the time. Where snus flavor is more of a nice hint of flavor that does not over power the taste buds for a long time after use. If I use skoal before a meal it adds a nice gross flavor to the food.
cuz it’s friggin awesome even though it runs me about 1 dollar per portion.
@thorrgrimer, Ouch! $$$! Said like only a lover of Snus could. Which country do you live in?
Like many have said it’s healthier ( American dip and chew is fire cured which puts a ton of carcinogens into it while snus is steam cured) and it’s new. I love pizza but I can only eat pizza for so long until I want to throw a Snus in.
I’m a scandanavian (roots anyway) and I won’t go anywhere near it! Next thing you know they’ll be jumping out of the sauna and rolling around in the snow!
I only like strong nic snuffs and I used to smoke about eight pipes of a good English mix a day, and I still get nicotine overload with snus. I might take a piece every month or so, but it’s usually too much. Sometimes it works on a long walk. It’s definitely good for long air trips.
