Hi Everyone I’m coming off of dipping Copenhagen, and it’s packed with nicotine. I’m writing to try and ascertain how snus nicotine content matches up with dip. Years ago, when snus first same into style in America, my friend bought a can, and they sucked. They weren’t strong at all. But I’m perusing Mr.Snuff and I’m seeing these cans of snus that say “Extra Strong” and “Ultra Strong,” etc. https://mrsnuff.com/index.php?cPath=303\_309 Do any of you have experience with snus? Do you by chance know what kind of nicotine content there is, as compared to dip, and even compared to snuff? Thanks everyone

make sure its swedish snus, and i use strong snus and never get the nic i want from dip unless i use loads. its a different feeling though.
The strong (stark) and extra strong (extra stark) snus pack quite a big nic punch. The “American snus” that hit the market were intentionally made to be crap to scare people away from snus and put them back on cigs and aren’t even real snus, don’t judge snus based on them and get yourself some REAL swedish snus you won’t be dissapointed.
I dipped for 25 something years (Copenhagen, Red Seal and Timberwolf- all fine cut natural) I have been using snus now for several years and love it. The mouth feel is a bit different and takes a little getting used to coming from dip but it is well worth the transition. The nic content between Swedish snus and dip are equivalent (American snus like n9inchnails said is weak and is crap.) I would start off with General ES (extra stark), Grov, Odens #3 ES, Gustavus, and Skruf. This will give you a good feel for what is out there (there is also Thunder Frosted if you like mint) For more info a good place to look is The Dipper’s Guide to Snus (google it)
I never heard of Snus until I joined snuffhouse. Now I use some everyday. At first it was like what do people see in this snus? After employing it for some time now I see the attraction . I use General often because I can get it locally. I like Thunder,Oden’s,and Ettans so far. I’d try more if I had an unlimited budget. I do like the loose snus for effect but the bagged snus is convenient for easy disposal.
I used snus for awhile and found several thing interesting. Number one, I could place an order on Monday night and I would have it Friday afternoon…constantly! Two, 16 mg to 22 mg of nicotine was my zone. Three, the pouches only lasted about 30 minutes for me before I was reaching for another. Right now in the freezer I have 6 cans of Green Spyke, 3 cans of Captian Yankee, and 1 can of Odens extreme that will probably never get used and they are about a year old. I never could really get comfortable with the mouth feel and I ended up going back to Red Seal. However I will use General Mint snus at church or in the doctors office and it is real good to use as a sleep aid along with Dreamcatcher for me ( I am not advocating having snus in your mouth whilst trying to sleep). The benefit is if I forget to remove it before falling asleep I don’t wake up to a ruined pillow and a pissed off mama bear! Now on to what I think would be a more helpful note, loose snus is where I came the closest to mouth feel of dip. Now as you research loose you will find fancy methods and lofty opinions on how to get the loose snus to your mouth, personally I just used the pinch and shove method. You got a good start cause you dipped Cope, just your placement will be different with snus. What I did was take a pinch then placed that pinch on my reloading scales to see how close I was staying to the mg/g. Mr. Shaman is 100 percent correct on the removing from the mouth part. Good luck with you snus adventure!

Really?! ive fallen asleep with snus in multiple times, while it doesnt get bits everywhere, i still stained a few pillows, and on occasion managed to dream the portion into another dimension, never to be seen again.
Great posts guys, thank you! Mr.Snuff only offers Danish and Indian, so I guess I’ll look elsewhere for Swedish. What is a reputable website that you guys use to order it? The reason I’m getting off dip is because it’s causing my gums to greatly recede and it gives me heartburn at times (I guess some of the juice gets down my throat). Now, with snus pouches, would I still need to worry about my gums, or is snus formulated in a way that won’t lead to tooth loss? Also, I understand one doesn’t need to spit using snus. So any juice from it is to be swallowed? As stated above, GI issues is one of the reasons I’m getting off dip and onto a more “healthy” mouth tobacco (I’m also snuffing). Alright, the last thing, lol, I dip Copenhagen “original,” it has the natural tobacco flavor to it. I don’t like the fruity flavors they add into other types of dip. I just want it to taste like tobacco, just as I only buy tobacco smelling/tasting snuff, like Taxi Red, Viking Brown, and QSnuff Natural Smokers Blend. With that said, which brands and types do you guys recommend that will satisfy my desire for snus that tastes like classic tobacco, and has a high nicotine content? You guys are great! Thanks so much for your help

For classic tobacco flavor Ettan Original is hard to beat, it has average nic content for snus but is still enough to satisfy. Snus will give your gums a leathery feel to them but it goes away in a couple hours if you stop taking it and as for tooth loss it’s nothing compared to dip, the reason dip is so bad for your teeth is because of the huge amount of sugars added to them it’s like putting a hard candy next to your teeth all day every day. Most snus have no sugars added and even the flavored ones are nothing compared to dip.
For natural Ettan, Röda Lacket (my fave), and Gröv. Loose is worth the effort. Like @Banjo777 said, people will tell you about a million ways to pack it. They even sell fancy tools to do it for you. I just roll mine into a ball and shove it in! As for a consistant store, I have used http://www.buysnus.com for a couple years now. Order always gets to me inside of 3 days.

LOL. Stomach in another dimension. Interesting…
Mr snuff carrys thunder chew it is snus relabled https://mrsnuff.com/advanced\_search\_result.php?keywords=Thunder&categories\_id=185 Red original isn’t flavored it is loose and packs a punch
@n9inchnails So even my “original” non-fruity-flavored dip is packed with sugars? I never knew this was the cause of the receding gums/tooth loss. I thought it was the fiber glass/tobacco itself that made my gums recede.
@troop111 there is no sugar in non flavoured dip, even most of the flavoured ones now use sweeteners instead of sugar. There is no fibreglass in dip, or any tobacco product, that is a huge myth, and just that, a myth. You get gum recession because the dip, or snus, inflames the gums, it is worse if you use dip or loose snus, using portioned snus or dip pouches reduces that risk but you still get a degree of recession. It does not cause tooth loss though. I have used snus for over 8 years, my gums are fine. I mainly use portioned snus and my dentist has said there is no recession of my gums. Over time this will change, but there is nothing wrong with any of my teeth or gums. You should always practice proper oral hygiene if you use any oral tobacco, do that and you will be fine. You will get gum recession, no doubt about it, but it happens with prolonged use over decades. Mint dips and snus will irritate your gums more than plain dip or snus so I would imagine you will notice recession quicker, but that’s all it is. If you don’t brush your teeth then you only have yourself to blame. So keep on dippin and snusin!
Ignore your teeth and they will go away =))
I don’t know what everyone has said but cope is nothing compared to strong snus. I know this because of that stupid ups actually makeing sure someone signs for their package and needing to have a sub for my snus. Cope is not as strong as thunder.

Thank you for your post, it is very insightful and helpful I was confused about the above-quoted - Are you saying there’s no tobacco in dip/snus?
He’s saying the is no fiberglass in any tobacco product 8-|
Really?! ive fallen asleep with snus in multiple times, while it doesnt get bits everywhere, i still stained a few pillows, and on occasion managed to dream the portion into another dimension, never to be seen again. Portion snus only for me, but yes a couple of stained pillows and wildly vivid snus dreams… B-)
If I (in the United States) was interested in getting my hands on some Skruf, what would be the quickest way to go about it? I’m guessing it’s not available anywhere convenient/quick…?
