V2 Thunder Chew

We have a small amount of V2 Thunder Chew (ie not snus). This is brand new and not even on their website yet. I have no idea what it is like, so I would love some feedback. My suspicion is it will be excellent. I am letting you know because in one day it has almost sold out and if you like chew it would be a shame to miss this. We will be getting more though. It is here: MrSnuff: Thunder Chew

where all I see is snus

It isn’t snus. Just looks like it.

I am only getting: Thunder Frosted 20g 2 Thunder Original 20g 7 Thunder Wintergreen 20g

@CzechCzar: That’s them. There are only three flavors right now. When they introduce more we will stock them too. This is obviously intended to get around the EU snus ban since chewing tobacco is not banned.

Good old loopholes. I like the price point.

thunder is my favorite snus maker. Sure I think swedish match products taste slightily better. The thing is even though the price isn’t too steep for either I feel I get more bang for the buck from the thunder products. Their los also would be a good place for a nic fiend who hasn’t tried los snus to go as they’ve got a stronger flavor that’s more in line with the american palate then does sweedish match.

I wonder if this ‘chew’ would work well in the upper lip

Can you swallow the spit like you can with the portion snus or is it like dipping tobacco?

it is supposed to be more like dip. Until I try some myself it is tough to say. However they have almost sold out so hopefully we’ll get some feedback here in about a week or so.

Its long cut snus so you can lower or upper lip it and swallow the juice, tastes identical to the loose snus, so the wintergreen is bloody disgusting! Go with the original as that is a dam fine product.

why are wintergreen snuses so bad?

@bob usually because unlike with dip they don’t add sugar or sweetner to them, except jakobsons that has sweetner in it so its similar to dip. Thunder wintergreen is the only snus I have ever thrown away as it was simply disgusting, and I like wintergreen! lol

yeah I think there is something more to it. There’s often something a little extra in the snus wintergreens. One which isn’t made anymore had vanilla with wintergreen and it was just gross.

I’ve gotten a bunch of little sampler packs from General. They always come with wintergreen ones. I’ve given up trying to give the wintergreen ones away. I committed a mortal sin and threw tobacco in the trash. However, it was mercy killing because it should never have been afflicted so by ts maker.

I pulled a can I have out of the freezer just to give it one more chance, yes it is still that bad! However it expired in October and wasn’t vacuum sealed so the wintergreen has faded a bit, still tastes like poo though!

Well stone me, this is “chew” of sorts, it says its chewing tobacco in the can, the grind is slightly finer than Thunder loose and the nicotine kicks harder, but this V2 makla, or snuskla as I like to call it. Bottom line, it looks, smells and tastes like Thunder loose snus, but it is meant to be “chewed” so it isn’t snus  I loaded up my icetool and threw a pris in the upper lip just like snus. Very cleaver V2 and all power to you, fuck the EU!! Those in the EU demand that your local tobacconists stock this and buy it like there is no tomorrow! Just avoid the wintergreen! Oh and thank you @MrSnuff for stocking it

@Skell18 thanks for the great review. I am stoked. It is exactly what I hoped it would be: chew that is made in Europe and legal to sell in Europe. Bringing it in from the US we have to pay £80 per Kg excise, 41.6% tax on the price of the product PLUS the price of the shipping PLUS the excise; then 20% of the new total. I have another 100 cans on the way.

V2 is from Denmark, right? Loose Snus is legal there, just not portions. So is that fact an EU exception or is it simply compliant? If its just compliant than would not UK be the same way?

snus is not legal in the EU, period. The exceptions are Denmark, Sweden and Norway under the ‘traditional’ tobacco clause. They define oral tobacco as being put in the upper lip and they explicitly exclude chewing tobacco. This of course means that US chew is legal but they effectively manage to stem its import with trade barriers ie £80+ /Kg excise; 41.6% tax on the total of: cost of product + cost of shipping + excise tax. Then 20% VAT of the new total. Don’t you just love when taxes are taxed!?
