Good rule Bob. On that note, I don’t think you’re going to find too many “stupid” people who accidentally stumbled into snuff.
@Sloth, I was amazed as well. I had Hedges and Bruton on me…so, I gave them the Hedges, of course. Then they keep asking for it, and where they can get more etc. A couple tried the Bruton too…after a stern warning…and it was not liked at all…after there eyes quit watering and color of their faces returned to normal…lol
The last time I was at a “rave”, I shared some snuff with a fella I’d met. He wasn’t really the “raver” type, though. Not a glowstick or stupid hat in sight. I can’t remeber if he had tried it before or not, but I seem to recall he was at least familiar with it. He was from Australia if, that makes a difference. I also offered some to a DJ friend (not at a rave) who said he had’t had any snuff since his “boyhood days in boarding school in England”. He’s one of those guys who’s full of interesting stories.
I really snuff when i want, where i want. Here in Germany, the only thing that happens is that you get curious looks from other people or they ask what you are doing. Some take a pinch, most not. A few took it before, many knew what it is. I can only pray for the increase of snuff consuption here - it seems in Europe, cigarettes are still up-to-date and the way to go for most people who wants to enjoy some tobacco - very sad.
Yes it’s strange that cigarettes are so common and accepted and snuff is not.

I made the mistake of taking a few cans of Skoal with me to Munich back in the 90s. No one cared when I put a dip in my mouth but I got some pretty dirty looks when I spat my offending tobacco juice onto the street. I had been spoiled to spitting juice outdoors where I live and city streets and sidewalks in common areas are socially regarded as just fancy dirt roads. How ignorant and offensive I must have seemed at the time. Oddly enough, the whole affair made me lose all desires for nicotine for the duration of my stay. Too bad I wasn’t into snuff back then or I would have loaded up on the German varieties.
I generally take a pinch whenever I feel like it. Unless somewhere like a families house I’ll sneak to the bathroom to do things. Oddest place I have snuffed was in line at the Post Office.
I am a little partial to surroundings when I snuff. I live in the states where people literally don’t seem to have that sense of history to know what it is I’m doing. I know that some may well be confused that it’s dark brown or black. I see quizzical looks because I usually snuff off the back of the hand, having tapped it out from an apothecary’s dark glass vial. Around friends I am less discreet as they know that it wouldn’t be illegal, coming from me. When amongst the general populous I try to hide it a bit, just to side step the occasional question. One thing I usually do no matter is to be discreet about blowing the dark viscosity out of my nose. Do I really care? No. Do I like to avoid direct attention? Yes. This is how I am as a general rule in many areas of my life.
I nonchalantly took a pinch in the company of my boss and my boss’s boss yesterday…and they didnt say a word! Honestly, i think they had no idea what i was doing and were too embarrassed to ask lol.
Most people will never notice. The only time people notice is when they are engauged with me in some way or if I’am making it suspicious (by accident).
As bob implied, most people are too busy and or preoccupied with themselves to notice what others are doing, even when interacting directly with them. This is why you can snuff right in front of most people without them even noticing it, unless you draw attention to what you are doing.
Anywhere but in church. Well… not in the nave anyway… If I am really congested I may step out into the narthex for a pinch. Since I am in the choir, I get to sit in the last row. I had one wanna’ be commando who ended up being a security guard attempt to confiscate some from me in a hospital one time. When I made a loud noise about: “Where do you think you’re going with my property?” and wanting to report him for larceny he gave it back. He just took it and put it in his pocket without even knowing what it was!
I’m at the point now where I don’t care who sees me. I live in the USA and nasal snuff is “eccentric” here. Unless I’m somewhere like COURT or CHURCH or something, of course. It’s not my fault they don’t know what snuff is! So I’ll just continue cramming brown powder up my nose and sucking vapor out of my personal vaporizer 
I’m fairly bold about it, but don’t go out of my way to make a big show. Tap Tap, pinch, sniff, a little Hanky action and move on!
It still amazes me how ignorant people are of the concept…especially considering the history of it…
I’ll snuff in public anywhere anytime. Most people don’t even seem to notice, and those who do have all have been interested rather than alarmed. I proffer my antique wooden fliptop snuffbox and invite them to have a pinch. Turns out that some folks just spotted the box and would really enjoy a closer look at it. In an airport I have a snuff EVERY TIME it’s announced that “smoking is not allowed blah, blah blah,” A feller can get pretty snuffed up on a two hour layover with that announcement playing every five minutes or so. Also, while serving several terms as Mayor of a small town, I would snuff during meetings and hearings. Perhaps public snuffing draws more attention according to technique. I prefer to pinch, which do in a very nonchalant and unassuming manner which rarely gets noticed. Sniffing off the back of my hand is showier (and considerably louder), which simply makes more people look on in admiration. Snorting snuff with cokespoon-like hardware in public, which is something I’ve not done, could result in some interesting interactions, so I’m all for it.
howdy dave like the mustache. Glad to see I’am not the only person that waxs. Well going to start again. In about a week it will be waxable.
@Spyro That’s a pretty good point. I go to a few festivals over the summer, and my nights out usually involve going to a dubstep or house club till 6am. Maybe I’ll offer round some menthol! @bob To be honest, me and most of my friends are what you would class as ravers… and I don’t think you’d be able distinguish them from any other 20 odd year old. We’re all healthy, intelligent people, hold down good jobs, and use MDMA as our relatively harmless drug of choice. Certainly not a bunch of bores or idiots. As for the topic title, do it anywhere I say. To be honest, I find it amusing when I can see people watching me snuff in public. You can’t spend your life worrying about what others think of you. At work, I simply went up to my manager and explained what snuff is and asked if he’s alright with me taking it. He was fine, especially as I’m no longer having a morning and afternoon cig break.
I’m guessing here but wasn’t this the whole concept behind Zuka? Not specifically to address menthol use during raves, but to target the younger club goers. Sort of riding the jet stream of the energy drink fad.
