Actually, I bought my first tin yesterday, and reading up on the subject and seeing this forum has made me seriously consider it as an alternative to cigarettes, as I’m 19 and don’t want to risk causing myself issues with my lungs. I’ve done some research into proper techniques, and if I’m correct it does take practice? I’m enjoying the effects (compared to cigarettes, this is knockout. I’ve felt so calm yet motivated all day!) already! My first tin I’ve bought is a small tin of Wilsons & Sharrow “Dynamite.” The first time I tried it I got it rather wrong and managed to make my eyes water quite badly, haha. 
However after doing more research, this is an extremely enjoyable way to use tobacco. I haven’t craved a cigarette since yesterday, and strangely seems to be reducing my anxiety. Do any of you have any tips for a newcomer? And I’ll be sure to enjoy my time on these forums. Kind Reguards ReflectionEternal

I made my first snuff order (not a real order, it was an experimental box of GH Cherry- still a favourite) when i was 18. 30th may 2012. ive since moved over from regular cigars and RYO to snuff and pipe (edit- also a big fan of snus, just dont have any and too skint for an order right now haha). I feel better for it.
One of the only aspects of snuff taking that I think I may have a problem with is public use, the police around here jump on anything they can, so somebody sniffing something up his nose may rouse suspicion! And as a rather shy retiring fellow I’m not sure if I could deal with that. Is that something I should be taking into consideration or is there a way to use it without people thinking it’s something “sketchy?”

Ah yes, I’ve been looking into that. I’m planning on visiting my local tobacconist in order to attain one. 
I know many of the people at the local pub, and they had no problem with me using it there last night, had quite a good time. I discovered nothing is better than a pint of Guinness and some snuff! A couple of people even tried it. Also, oddly, I haven’t sneezed yet, which surprises me. All of the people who tried it did. XD

Welcome to the forum. My advice is just do it. Most people pay no attention to what’s going on around them and the police, at least in the US , will be okay with a labeled snuff tin. Hiding it just makes you seem like you are doing something bad, people figure if it’s out in the open it’s probably okay. Most times. There is always that one busybody that will be offended.

Actually I think you’re right. On second thoughts, an addict probably wouldn’t even use openly in public so I probably have little to worry about. I’m a little bit cautious, but that’s just in my nature.
There are so many splendid flavors and types of snuff. Hang around this forum and you will learn lots. You are in for a real treat exploring this hobby!
i cant agree that 25g is best to buy if you are in the stage of buying lots of different snuffs, except in the case of SG or GH, because the 10g tap boxes are horrendous. as for tips, id say try different methods of snuffing different types of snuff, like spoon, boxcar, back of hand, anatomical snuffbox, pinch. if any questions arise, ask here or search the forum for info. dont assume all menthol/medicated snuffs are the same- or all of any other categories. also if you are snuffing out and about, id recommend a labelled tin.
Welcome mate, As others have said, just try different snuffs, it’s inexpensive here in the UK and there are plenty of great UK vendors who sell very cheap so you can try lots of different snuffs for less than £15. Take advantage of touque’s 9 for 10 deal and see what you like as they have a wide selection. GQtobaccos sells Wilson’s small tins for £1 each and if you buy direct from Wilson’s you can get their full range. On he snuff in public thing, I have never had a problem, I just do it, no one bats an eyelid, only curious people want to know more about it and then you can tell them, I have had many interesting conversations with people in pubs and on trains about snuff and convinced people to give it a go, all because they saw me taking snuff in public. I also openly snuff in work and have never had a problem, if people ask, educate them. Bullets are good for being discreet but in my almost 20 years of taking snuff I can open a tin, take a pinch and be done with it so fast it just looks like I am wiping my nose. My personal method is pinch and release which appears unremarkable to those who may see it, bullets look like those Vicks inhaler things for unblocking your nose when you have a cold so there really is nothing to worry about regarding public use, I certainly never have worried about it. Mr snuff has a wide selection of bullets and toque sells pre filled ones, just be careful with the pre filled ones or if you fill your own and don’t pack too much snuff in there as it will never come out and then you will look like you’re snorting for your life! Lol
Some people will always look askance at something that is unfamilier to them… A good “first lesson” to learn is: Never be intimidated by other people’s ignorance! You have a great opportunity to educate local law enforcement officers. Many here (myself included) also started with your initial apprehension about what others will think. In time, this evolves into indifference to what people think – especially ignorant people.

honestly more then practice it takes conditioning. I really think there is more of a your body gets used to snuffing and adapts.
I prefer not to use a snuff bullet because so many people use them for illicit substances.

I would like to recommend Redbull’s brother, “Ozona President” which not only is a wonderful snuff (especially for beginners) which comes in the same tapbox, but is also covered in a reflective silver mirrored color with which you can use to examine if you have any snuff around your nose. It’s a great thing to carry around. It’s my staple snuff and snuffbox (with which I occasionally fill with other snuffs). It’s cheap and a bestseller as well. Mentholated dark tobacco snuff with a pronounced eucalyptus flavor.

I used to try and snuff discreetly when I was a beginner, I just find that if you open your snuffbox with purpose, take a pinch with a flourish, can be clearly seen to be enjoying the moment, and a look of reinvigoration over your face, people just tend to think cant be anything untoward. I was walking around York today shopping (or should I say wife shopping) and somehow I found myself stumble into a public house to partake of a restorative brandy, so an American chap asked me if I was taking snuff, and where can one purchase it. We struck up a rather long conversation, anyhow I did tell him that one of the greatest and most well stocked Snuff snuff purveyors in the world was indeed based in his home country, the veritable Mr.Snuff…he was rightly pleased…and I did tell him about snuffhouse…
