@sudosnuff: I’ve never heard WoS Kendal Brown descrbed as moist or earthy. I found it medium dry and floral. Now, GH and SG KBs I would definately call moist and earthy. Are you sure it wasn’t one of them? If not, I want the WoS one you don’t like.
@Xander: I suppose floral is a good description also, but to me it’s more earthy. Maybe a freshly watered flower bed? As far as moist, to me it seemed much more moist than the other WoS in the sampler. It more easily clung to my fingers, feeling like it had more moisture (this could be totally wrong, just felt like it), and it felt much more wet in my nose. That’s one of the reasons I don’t use it daily; I get a lot more nasal drip than with other varieties. As far as the others, sorry mate, already gave 'em away :)! Me and a few friends sat down and sampled all of them and took away the ones we liked the best. I’ll let you know if the Aniseed experiment doens’t work out, though!
So far, it is EXTRA MENTHOL for me but i only had 3 from Wilson so far (the other 2 were Crumbs Of Comfort, which i really like to take and the Apricot which is just plain and unintersting imho).
I’ve only had one and I did like it enough to reorder it and hopefully in future I’ll be able to try more but for the time being it’s Prime Minister
All the WoS blends I’ve tried I’ve liked. One of the ones I keep coming back to is the Aniseed Extra. Very nice, but strong menthol in there too. Nice for waking up in the morning. The Aniseed and Eucalyptus is also nice too, but it has a slightly sweet licorice note that lasts very long in the nose–you have to Like licorice a fair amount (I find) to groove on this one, which I do. My newest WoS love is Best Dark. All of the tins that I have gotten from them have always been very fresh and that’s always a plus in favor of any label. Best Dark is not complicated. It’s a moist, dark, medium grind, fairly high moisture snuff that is so easy to take. It has a light orange scent imbedded within a pretty high quality rich, deep tobacco base. Very pleasant. The tobacco base and the light orange (?) essence work really well together and neither intrude on the other.
I’ve only tried the toasts and the sp’s. I like lemon toast and SP 100. edm
Tom Buck, hands down. That being said, I’ve never tried one I didn’t like. Chocolate Orange was probably my least favorite, but it’s still good. EDIT: lol I already responded to this thread.
Best SP … I would go with that.
Camphor and Mild. It is such a great snuff. Honestly, most of the snuffs I’ve tried from WoS have been great, but Camphor and Mild is the best.
I’ll second that, Canphor&Mild, is for me too.
Best SP
Strasbourg, hands down.
Mmmm… Royal George.
Gold label is under-appreciated imo Best Dark is pretty good too Grand Cairo is amazing and so is Tom Buck
@SCasey: In response to your ?, its bergamot in the Best Dark, same as the SPs. Bergamot is a hybrid of a particular orange and a particlar lemon vaiety and is a common snuff scent but is most well known for the scenting of Earl Grey tea.
@Xander Interesting. I first got really interested in snuff after I tried Wilson’s SP and realized that there was bergamot in it! After that realization I was on fire to discover snuff in it’s many varieties. I think the first snuff I tried was a mentholated one, which was okay, but when I realized that some snuff was flavored with bergamot and a whole host of other essences, I was stoked. Love bergamot, and coincidentally, Earl Grey tea. Thanks for that info about Best Dark. Appreciate it. Best…
I’m also really enjoying WoS Brunswick too. Like you said @Xander it is a bit more complex and rich than WoS Best Dark. I’m liking WoS Princes too…
From this angle the first 12 tins from the left.
@scasey if you like bergamot you gotta try Tom Buck.
@transistor I plan on it. I’ve heard some refer to it as a strong SP style. Is that accurate in your opinion? There are So Many that I want to try. I’ve got quite a list going and Tom Buck is certainly on it.
