@Snuffster I will work on that right away I hope I can get there
The strongest ones I take are, Taxi, NTSU and Viking Dark.
So which is stronger? Scotches or indian whites?
@Snuffsniffer I heard they are pretty strong indeed, enjoy
@Harlequin From what I read there is nothing like Dholakia White.
There is no snuff, to my knowledge, that displays the nicotine content in the same way as cigarettes and my feeling is that they are probably all quite close in strength. Very fine snuffs are efficient nicotine delivery systems due to the increased surface area. Couple this with the burn that a fine snuff gives and you have what appears to be a very strong snuff. I do wonder if there is actually a great deal between many of them, mil per mil. Of course, snuffs like Dholkia White are genuinely strong but tobacco is an odd thing. There are a couple of UK RYO tobaccos - Golden Virginia and Old Holborn, and most people think OH is a lot stronger, but I read recently that GV is the most potent of the two. OH just smokes strong it seems. Impossible to prove until mandatory nicotine levels get introduced, God forbid.
@Snuffster Well until now I can not really see a difference between different snuffs but maybe after I try many kinds from different manufacturers, I think I can have a solid opinion about that… of course cigarettes are sure faster way to deliver Nicotine and also a sure way to kill yourself slowly… Thanks God I quit those cancer sticks finally.
Fermentation lowers the nicotine level in tobacco. If you are looking for a strong nic hit you could always grind up some Dhoka, though I doubt it would be all that pleasant.
@Mouse What is Dhoka ?
I would recommend Viking Dark, it’s my goto snuff, it’s also good for boosting and thinning strongly scented snuffs.
@SnuffSniffer I read about it too and yes I think it will be on my next order with Dragun.
@kougy–sorry, I didn’t spell it correctly, it should be dokha. I find it very strong. Here’s a wiki article about it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dokha
I buy it from a US importer, Medwakh.com
When I was growing rustica tobaccos I made the mistake, once, of smoking some before it had been cured and it really made me sick, after fermentation not so heavy in the nic department, but still potent.
@kougy : The unfortunate thing about snuff is it takes some time before you can actually do it right. I wouldn’t worry as much about the nicotine just yet. I would worry about the technique that you are using. I mean yeah scotches and some Indian snuffs do have considerably more potency than the regular stuff. That said, they are much harder to use and you probably will continue to be frustrated for a longer period of time.
I would order ‘easier’ snuffs, so that you can work on your technique, instead of getting all toasts/scotches/whites. Toque definitely has probably one of the higher nic levels for beginner snuffs. Wilson has a more coarse/medium grind, so it’s easier to get right.
We all figured it out eventually. Don’t worry so much.
@Mouse Thanks for the information.

@jazzi_mike Thanks for the explanation… my first order was Toque from the site and I got 8 flavors… until now I try to get my technique right because the grind is fine and my second order is from Mrsnuff and contains Grunt and other Indian snuff so I try to learn how to use this fine grind without getting too much throat hits.
I just know that when I actually started to be able to use snuff correctly, I definitely got enough nicotine from just regular snuffs. If I got a big pinch of most anything, I would be able to feel it. The snuffs that were mentioned in this thread took me longer.
@jazzi_mike ya I think it will take long from me too, maybe I would have begun with Poschl or something like it, but anyways I will practice until I get the grip of it, I really like this snuff world.
yeah strength isn’t much of a real issue. either take a big pinch or take several small pinches that equal a big pinch. It also takes longer for snuff to enter the blood stream so don’t expect an imediate lift. I find it’s best to snuff when I feel the nicotine disapating. Funny thing is for some reason you’ll actualy get more nicotine from snuff after a while of use. Might be technique but who knows. I personaly think the body changes in some subtle ways and learns how to get the nicotine from snuff. Also it is not elegant but if you’ve not got pinch down you can just stuff snuff into the nose, that will show you how strong snuff is. In fact that’s how I do white snuffs. Stuff it in then sharply exhale to get the fine dust from going down my throat. You can put a lot in that way and you won’t care what snuff has more nicotine at that point.
@bob I agree with you “strength isn’t much of a real issue” … if the snuff is not potent just take several pinches until reaching a fix… stuffing snuff inside the nose can be done in private only, effective but not practical… I think when I get the grip of the pinch it will give the same effect.
Maybe it’s just me, but sometimes it seems to sneek up on me. Like if I’m sitting watching TV and taking a sniff every 5-10 minutes the “wow, I’m actually getting pretty buzzed here!” moment arrives.
