What is the nasal snuff with the highest Nicotine content ?

Bad typing from staying up too late, just what I said earlier - topping up the whole time, throughout the day is the way to get the full benefit from snuff.

@thorgrimnr I must be like Thor or one of the Fantastic Four to be able to try a half gram of snuff in each nostril

@Juxtaposer I read it thanks and it is logic!

@Snuffster So how many pinches you take per day? Time interval ? I mean average of course.

It really all depends if you want a nicotine buzz (lasting a few minutes) or a nicotine hit (a quick blast). Dholakia White has no more nicotine than the average snuff, but is pulverized to such a fine grind that the absorption is so immediate that it feels like smoke from a cigarette. American Scotches are also pretty fine but not quite as much, but the “hit” is there. On the other end of the spectrum is Taxi and Ntsu. These are extremely coarse ground and you can literally shovel loads of this into your nose so as to create a slow but prolonged release of nicotine, hence the “buzz”. Some of the English darks come close to these but not quite. At the end of the day its probably better to just take Snuffter’s advice (frequent pinches of whatever is best for you) and not worry about chasing dragons. You do know they are imaginary creatures, yes?

@Xander Haha ya I do know that and so is Santa Claus  my first order from Mrsnuff included: FUBAR Grunt, Dholakia Sparrow Cool, Dholakia Swiss Chocolate and 6 Photo Natural…What do you think about these kinds?

Sparrow is along the lines of scotches and toasts - a good blast but need replensihng sooner. Swiss Chocolate, i don’t care for, but not high nic in either dept. Grunt is ok, a good plain snuff with a sharper than average “hit” but not as sharp as above. It is sharper than most standard English grinds though. 6 Photo I have not tred any. In any case you will soon see that there are many combinations of texture and moistening agent that have profound effect on snuff, and how it affects you. Experimention is part of the fun.

@Xander Thanks a lot for your review and I agree that I must experiment a lot to have more fun… the big diversity in snuff kinds and makes is really interesting and make you curious all the time to try new things… I don’t think you can feel bored from such a hobby.

The best advice I can give you kougy, is forget about the nicotine. Enjoy the snuff! It’s that simple.

You are new to snuff, and you have been kindly advised by some of the most knowledgeable snuffers there are, and I do not include myself in that group. But to a man I am sure they would agree, just enjoy it and develope your own methods, preferences, and favorites. You can occasionally touch the Dragon, but you cannot keep him.

@Whalen Thanks a lot for the advice… I begin to understand the simple idea of snuffing and it must not be complicated… just a simple joy of life, but sure if I can touch the Dragon I won’t regret it

@kougy - re pinches, I am a heavy snuff user and was a two packs a day smoker, so my average might be higher than some, but I suppose three or four hefty pinches an hour when I am going full tilt. A pinch being (for me) something the size of a pea per nostril. Sometimes a double pinch per nostril. I’m not quite so rabid all the time, and I have days where that goes right down - pretty much like smoking.

@Snuffster I think I pinch with the same rate as yours…until I feel satisfied

I also use it at all the old smoking trigger points - I’ve only recently noticed how extensively I do that, which shows I have become completely re-wired to snuff. I have used snuff for along while - most of that time as a smoker and I switched to full time snuff when the bans started coming in - but it’s only recently that I have understood how completely it has replaced smoking, not just as nic replacement but mentally as well.

I put my personal stop-smoking success down to a very simple thing that Prof Phillips Griffiths once wrote about taking large pinches and that they are less irritating than small ones. I have snuffed for well over 30 years but it was only when I read that, and started doing it, that I sensed how much snuff can do for you. I really think that a lot of users only ever learn to tolerate snuff, not get the full potential from using large pinches consistently.

@Snuffster I tried to use large pinches from Toque Quit, Natural and I got a very bad throat hit…so I shifted to very small pinches many times… I always get throat hit…until now I did not succeed to stop that.

@Kougy : you understand what I wanted to say.

But this phenomena comes when you snuff enough.Anyway when you touch snuff  time  managementis for me an important element of feelings offers.

@gandalf I am trying to see now what is the time interval I need between every pinch and how many small pinches get me to a fix every time.

I’m not sure that regularity is the best way.You can notice too more you’re already in good mood ,more the effects should be interesting.

@kougy You only get snuff in the throat or, worse, lungs, by inhaling too deeply. The insufflation should be sharp but shallow - you can do it more than once remember; if you are holding a pinch you can take it over a couple of those inhalations. It’s trial and error but nothing more than learning the pressure of the inhalation and the co-ordination of the the release.

I’ve just taken a large pinch. I took half in the right nostril - the top most part of the amount of powder in one sniff - then the left nostril I very slightly rolled the the snuff upwards, because I was taking the bottom part, whilst taking a slightly longer inhalation to account for the added distance that the rest of the pinch had to travel.

It sounds insane describing it so minutely of course, and at the end of the day you do what suits you, but for me that is the only way to do it. The only superior method to the pinch, of course ‘inmho’, is to use a snuff spoon that holds a good sized pinch - the fact of it all hitting the mucosa at one time is the reason why a large pinch burns less to a beginner - there is a capsule effect.

@Snuffster I am trying the way you described with Toque Quit and I take sharp sniff but until this minute I get it in my throat…before that I tried to take a sniff very slowly like breathing or smelling a flower with rubbing my fingers to expose the powder but I get it in my throat too :(

@gandalf Actually I feel bad because I can not smell all the Toque flavors I have, only the Menthol because it is too powerful, but Blueberry, Espresso, Chocolate, Spanish Gem, even Natural and Quit… sometimes I just smell them when I open the tin…

@kougy Imagine walking into a kitchen where something good is cooking, think how you inhale and go ‘aaah’. Well, cut that inhalation down to one that lasts for one second - sharp enough for a distinct parcel of snuff to lift off from the pad, shallow enough top stop it going past your nose.

There will be eureka moment if you carry on. And, really, whatever anyone else says - this is the only way to take snuff:)
