Toque Snuff - Which aromas last the longest?

I have an idea folks , since Grapefruit is all natural , why not add grapefruit rinds in to moisten it (when in season )? As for the vanilla , I was considering getting some tonka beans or vanilla beans to add to the can. Do you think adding some drops of 100% natural grapefruit might help ? Possibly some aromatherapy grapefruit oil if no rinds are found ?

I have to laugh at mr.snuff on this discussion. Your comment, Dave, would make the perfect example of the term Pissy.

wow!

As a purveyor, you purchase a product from the manufacturer. That product may have a best before date, One should take that into consideration before deciding to sell that product. Conversing with the manufacturer before hand should solve the problem?

Also, the manufacturer should let the purveyor know of any best before dates.

just my thought.

Don’t mean to stir up shit.

Spanish Gem is a real Jewel :stuck_out_tongue:

best before dates on snuff would be great. None of the snuffs I have with me today have a best before date, but that would be immensely helpful, that way you’d know if it was the manufacturer’s issue or the fact that it took too long in transit. At least you’d be able to try and get a refund or gain some instincts on how long snuffs last.  As I said earlier, my grapefruit aroma probably went away with a combination of it sitting at the place I purchased it combined with the travel time to Canada. In fact the place I purchased it, was out of stock immediately after I placed my order…that leads me to think it must have been in storage for at least a few weeks plus a week in transit…there’s 3 weeks right there.

@thorgrimnr

Good to see another Canadian on the site.

We are few but strong.

I purchased a 21g tin of McCrystyals SP on the weekend at a small shop in Kingston, Ontario.

Dry as tinder!

Who knows how long it was there for.

Shit happens in this world of snuff for our country.

i won’t get into where to purchase your snuff from…

that’s up to you…

personally, I like to go to the source.

;:wink:

@nightcap

Howdy from the Wet Coast of Vancouver! I usually get my snuff from the UK and in fact I managed to make a few purchases directly from Wilson’s! Alas, Wilsons no longer ships outside the EU for some reason. In the future I plan to grow my own tobacco and mill my own snuff…now that’ll be fresh!

I dont know what you guys are all talking about! I bought 10 tins of toque and sold half of them to my friends, I kept the 5 that were the most moist, flavorful, and coarse so they wouldnt hit the back of my throat. those flavors ended up being: Rose, Espresso, Absinthe, Pomegranite, and Apricot

I am a Toque snuffer!!

No problems, top notch snuff.

I get my order to Ontario, Canada within a week of order and everything is fresh!!

All aromas intact!

@thorhrimnr

I think @mikemoose is out your way,

You got that right.  I live out in Langley actually.  Not far from Vancouver!

@Greencrow: point taken. Apologies.

@nightcap: this is the first I heard that grapefruit has a shelf life of one week. It was a shocker, hence my somewhat (as Greencrow pointed out)  “pissy” reaction. My reaction is, I should state, a little tongue in cheek. Cheeky grins do not come through with mere words.

As for best before dates: that’s a tough one. I have some Wilsons and F&Ts from circa 1983 and they are still excellent. I have a tin of Helme Navy Sweet Scotch from the 1940s and if anything it has mellowed. I have a tin of quit which I bought when it first came out (2 years ago?) and it is still excellent - one of several I hoarded for myself. Love the stuff. I’ll wager that all the oil based snuffs will last a lifetime (thinking Poschls). You may buy two snuffs manufactured on the same date and if one had a shelf-life of 2 weeks and the other 75 years it might raise an eyebrow or two even though it is accurate. Some snuffs seem to mature and age well others not so much.

Dave

@ nightcap,

Yes Mr .Moose is out my way, he has excellent youtube snuff reviews!! I look forward to his snuff antics!

Dave don’t panic! It’s just those two are very quick to fade once opened. However I wouldn’t like to see them sitting on the shelf for months on end.

At the other end of the scale I just found a half consumed tin of Absinthe in the pocket of a suit I haven’t worn in years (I don’t wear suits)and it was still as strong as the day it was packed.

I received my toques today, I think they are all pretty nice snuffs. Toque Original is definitely deserving of it’s reviews. The whiskey and honey is also excellent IMHO.

Thank you @thorgrimnr !  I know I haven’t uploaded a video in awhile…  I actually have like 3 videos I need to upload LOL .  I’ve just been really busy as of late.  Thank you again for watching, I hope you’ve enjoyed them :slight_smile: .

The lime toast is great. Very strong scent.

+1 for lime toast. It’s a masterpiece, and the scent lasts for, well I don’t know I had one open for 2 years (lost) and the wonderful scent was still there.

ROTFWMFITA!!! Oh I really, really do…

The only toque I’ve ever run into that I didn’t like was the absinthe, but that’s just my personal taste.  Everything else has been great.
