I’ve started this post as an open forum to discuss your likes and dislikes, ideas and suggestions for Toque. I really do want to hear what you have to say, in particular to new flavours as we plan to launch a few this year.
What flavours are in the pipeline?
As far as ideas the ammonia smell for new customers may be confusing. My first order had an ammonia smell so strong in the snuffs I couldn’t smell the flavour, and I didn’t know what it was and if it was supposed to be there or if it would go away, but it has now and the flavours are great the ammonia has completely gone. So maybe a warning for new customers. Then again, my second order didn’t smell of ammonia at all.
Hi, I can’t say I’ve come across anything toque I dislike. My first snuff purchase was incredibly spare of the moment and ill educated consisting mostly of menthols which I’ll only use on occasion. Had it not been for a second purchase through you I probably won’t have kept my interest in snuff. I’m very intrigued by the new products. Would love to see a Jamaican Ginger cake snuff and maybe a black licorice snuff. I think you could work wonders on those
@Eraserhead78 From what I have read here, Toque Absinthe is very similar to black licorice. You may want to try that one.
I would love to see you introduce a Toque Lemon snuff.
I wonder if you could do a garlic toast. I love garlic… maybe everyone hates the idea. But if you do make a very small limited quantity batch Id buy 25g.
And someone else mentioned corn beef and cabbage… could be awesome. When my B&C arrives Ill let you know.
To be honest, a lot of the Toque snuffs I absolutely love are snuffs that I probably couldn’t have thought of prior to you having them out. I’ve had a hard-on for Spanish Gem lately and I don’t even know what it’s flavored with. After that, Whiskey & Honey: I would’ve never thought to combine them. Original, Natural, & Quit are pretty self explanatory. Pomegranate is really awesome too.
I think garlic is horrible in snuff. Yes I’ve tried it. I’ll put it this way two great scents that suck together. I’am going to say this again though. You really need to warn people about the ammonia. If I didn’t know better I would have thought toque was crap instead of knowing I should air it out. Like a warning at checkout or in a colorfull slip that comes with your first Toque order.
I know you make them seperately, but chocolate rasberry would be great. Might would be just the thing to finally get the wife off cigarettes =P
I may have mentioned this before, but a sloe or damson would be great. But my all time favourite would be bog myrtle, or as it’s better known, sweet gale. A truely beautiful scent.
I absolutely love Wilson’s Camphor & Mild. I think it would be neat to try a Toque camphor snuff without menthol.
I’d love to see you out-do the Sam Gawith dr. Verey’s, or something very fresh, herbal, and kind of green smelling. Like the verey’s but fresher, more herbal, a more penetrating scent. I’m into essential oils, and am planning to pick up a couple more to experiment with and see what works and what wont. But I think maybe some of the following oils could work together: (obviously peppermint, eucalyptus, and lavender), hops, catnip, blue chamomile, sweet marjoram, rosemary, sweet basil, fennel, yarrow, perhaps benzoin. Scents like that, with a modest dose of menthol. On the most neutral- mildest smelling, base, perhaps an untoasted lemon virginia, with a medium to slightly high moisture level. Probably with a medium grind.
Personally, I’d love to see something coarse and black. Something rappee-like.
The only toque snuff I haven’t liked so far is the Absinthe (as stated in a previous thread which I can’t find probably on that elusive second page I keep forgetting to click on) What about a dragon fruit or mango scent??
I would love to see another take on the camphor/menthol/herbal style. Otherwise, my taste is toward plain snuff, Natural and Quit being very fine examples. More plain snuffs from Toque would be very welcome.
Lilac, Honey, and Super Quit Extra I’m still waiting for a Toque that will rival even the most potent whites and scotches, we know you can do it Roddy!
Joesnuffer,
DRAGON FRUIT! You mean Durian, are you mad???
A few years back my wife and I had some in China town and loved it; so when we saw one on sale in a Chinese market we bought it. The car ride back was bad enough but, when we got home we had to store it in a box at the end of the garden and still we could smell it in the house. One good thing came out of it, we were never bothered by foxes again.
See link for just how smelly Durian is.
Dragon fruit(pitaya) and Durian are different. But ‘Rotten flesh’ snuff would be good for the zombies out there
I’d love to see just plain Honey too. I think it would be a richer flavour without the sweetness of the whisky. I don’t know exactly what Quit is, but I really like it. To me is just seems unflavoured and natural compared to others so I think that another one like it would be good. Then again my Toffee is quite similar to it atm. And my Honey+Whisky reminds me of bacon at times.
Here’s some flavours that would be interesting or just downright wacky : Strawberry milkshake!!!(would love that), chocalate cake, honey/honey toast, caramel, baileys(the whisky) style flavour, hazelnut, beef jerky, gingerbread, marshmallow, cinnamon, latte, apple pie, mulled wine, maple syrup, Irish cream, and cheesecake.
I saw on the Tyra Banks show that Pumpkin Pie is a turn on and a great scent!
“The scent of pumpkin spice combined with lavender is known for stimulating arousal in both men and women”
@Brandasaur Vanilla does the same in woman, and cinnamon does in men. If you ever catch me smoking a straight vanilla pipe tobacco you know what I’am looking for
LOL Im sure the sweet sweet scent of a nice vanilla pipe tobacco attracts the ladies better than free shoes.
It does. You’ll get to talk to more ladies then you’d find in a club or some other such place. It’s a wonderfull thing.
I would like to see a very lightly mentholated plain toast, something with about a quarter the usual amount of menthol and a light, light dab of camphor.
I agree with snuffster. I have craved a light menthol with a hint of sweetness. Something like the blueberry or raspberry menthols though.
I have loved the idea of Pumpkin Pie snuff for the last few years. I can’t remember who originally suggested it but would there be a market for it? I also really like the idea of a lightly mentholated and camphor’d Toast.
My favourite blend at the moment is 1/3 O&G to 2/3 HDT. The menthol camphor toast is a fantastic idea. I remember an earlier thread about Gallagher’s ‘Wit and Wisdom’ mentholated toast which I have tried to approximate.
@toque sure, Id try it. just have it be another seasonal. What are your sales of xmas pudding like? Maybe sam adams it and have 1 seasonal snuff for each of the 4 seasons. Just figure out what spring and summer would be… (Maybe summer would be something like “watermelon and lemonade”)(or “Sweet summer peach tea”(iced tea could have slight menthol).
I cant think of a spring flavor… Lilac in bloom or something. I also notice you dont have anything Poppy flavored… you could do a fruit muffin like poppy seed etc.
You could do a peanut butter and jelly. The possibilities are only limited by the imagination!
For the Zappa fans you could do ‘Watermelon in Easter Hay’ or ‘Peaches en Regalia’.
“The possibilities are only limited by the imagination!” That’s what I keep telling my kids. Nice saying.
In that case - Unicorn flavour. How 'bout it?
Unicorns are made out of rainbows, fairy dust, and dreams. Do you have any idea how much extract of rainbows costs?
Irish Mead (haven’t tried whiskey & Honey so I don’t know if it tastes like it)
how about
blackberry
blackberry and menthol
amaretto as it works well in pipe tabaccos so could it work well in your snuff too???
a new evil monster flavour to go with chesse & bacon yep marmite/vegemite
I dont get what peoples beef with cheese and bacon. Its smokey, then 15 minutes later I think my feet stink for about 5 minutes… First time I was like… WTF feet!
Maybe a root brew (not quite modern root beer), think sassafrass, sarsparilla root, ginger, with maybe a little clove or allspice added.
Or what about: galangal, cardomom and frankinscense, with maybe a little ginger.
-and I’m referring to genuine ginger essential oil- not the scent of the dry spice.
not sure if they have been mention as I only skimmed the thread but:
Ginger
Gooseberry
Casis
Port
I’ve said this several times, but Roderick, please consider the chili pepper idea. Order some Mulato chili peppers (those are dried pods) and I guarantee you’ll fall in love with the scent after just one sniff. Mulato peppers aroma is a mix of raisins, cherry, liquorice and… tobacco. Instant winner.
I’d love to see Roderick’s take on a high Nic White snuff with an extra fine grind. Also still think a butterscotch snuff would be awesome.
I would like to see your take on a hop snuff. McChrystals Stammheimer Hopfen Schnupf is my favorite snuff at the moment.
@BigSnoot McSnuff : you are a genius! I support this guys idea, 100%!
Pumpkin Pie, Gingerbread, Taco
Taco???
As in spiced greasy beef smell?
@nightcap Yes. Taco. I love all things about tacos. They have Taco flavored chips, why not snuff?
@Toque OH GOD NO! Durian fruit… digusting.
Dragonfruit is thankfully not durian.
OMG eww… just thinking about durian fruit makes me want to throw up.
Two years have past and I’m still waiting for Roderick’s rival for O&G and Crumbs Of Comfort. IF it ever happens, I’m 101% sure it would be well worth the wait.
spearmint
marmite
wintergreen
root beer
I keep saying that I’d love to see a Frankincense snuff. Not sure of the logistics.
Would Frankincense be anything like Indian snuff?
@bish777 Rootbeer! That’s the best idea yet! I would kill for that!
Rootbeer smells like TCP.
spearmint, yummy
edm
frankincense, myrrh, and the gold could smell like those gold wrapped chocolates you could call it the three wise men.
:-))
I don’t know if poppy seed would be a fantastic idea - think of the drug tests Something close to the old Wit & Wisdom would be a nice addition to the market - a very lightly menthol toast. Although as a dessert snuff that I wouldn’t use every day (e.g. I love Peanut Butter, but now and then), I’d ask for Bonfire Toffee. Or maybe Parkin.
Teaberry? I know there is a gum that is called teaberry.
I would love a dr.pepper or cherry vanilla dr. pepper. mmm orgasmic
Freshly cut grass
This thread actually motivated me to register. Has anyone ever tried doing a woodruff scented snuff?
I second that. @Aven Woodruff should be brought under serious consideration!
Actually, I would love to try Toque’s take on strawberry. Wilson’s is pretty good, but I’ve heard bad things about other snuff producers. Seeing as how Toque makes even a Pomegranate, a Toque Strawberry is very absent.
I think someone already said it but it bears repeating…A stronger nicotine toast based on the tobacco used for Quit.
I agree with bipolarbear1968 on the O & G idea.
what about pear?
Something with a Latakia and/or Turkish base maybe with frankinscese or something like that
Something with a real hardcore N kick, like a strong Scotch.
I have to admit to more than a growing consternation with that while Roderick has been kind enough to offer Rustica and the superb Thuc Lao to us, as leaf, he has not introduced any snuffs to my knowledge that are based on these tobaccos. I can see the problem with Rustica, it has a hard to tame drip, but it has been done. But if you just grind the Thuc Lao into a powder you have a great snuff right there. God only knows what he could make of it.
To me, it is a mystery, does the existing demands of the business preclude this? Was he bitten by a strong nic snuff once? Is there a product liability Barrister in the closet? I have to admit that while I know only one other snuffer in my area, the topic has come up twice in our conversations. His efforts have brought fame and hopefully fortune, but a legacy and several bronze sculptures await if only he would heed our humble requests! I am willing to sacrifice one last goat to the gods in a vain effort to appeal to your responsibilities to the Nicotine challenged among us, a strong scotch indeed!
Do it for the love of the goat man!
Whalen, the problem we have is continuity, we can’t get steady supplies of the more unusual tobaccos.
Thanks for all the good and bad suggestions. Plans are afoot for new flavours by the summer but my mouth is zipped for the moment.
If only thine lips could be unzipped oh Lord of the snuffs!
LOL!
Thank you, Roderick. I’m looking forward to see what you have in “store” for us. (pun intended).
smoked brisket
Kippers & Salt.
Maple
Gingerbread all the way. Warm gingerbread…
Ok, this is just getting weird.
I quite fancy a nice salty snuff, could probably do without the kippers though… gingerbread sounds like a great idea
ooh ooh ooh! BBQ flavor! I know how the smokiness of scotches is called “bbq” here, but I mean like real bbq, like bbq sauce, like bbq chips (crisps)!
@Toque Weird? As in Cheese and Bacon? :))
Ok, you got me, but in my defence that was down to my customers. And no even if loads of snuffers ask we are not making a kipper snuff.
@Toque I know the story behind Cheese and Bacon and I’m glad it worked out for the best. I’m still afraid to try it myself.
Hehe I still have a tin of “Cheesy S.G.” that Roderick was kind enough to send along back in the day. Pretty sure it was the predecessor of Cheese and Bacon.
Green tea.
Rhubarb. You could then pinch it with vanilla for that rhubarb and custard hit.
Or plum. But as said I’d prefer sloe, or even damson.
I think it’s already been mentioned. A garlic snuff. I love the smell of garlic.
@Toque I thought I would let you know that my order got here in less than a week. I ordered late at night on the 6th and got my order at 11 am on the 13th. Great job and thanks.
Apple pie and custard
I like Toque in general, but some of them lack flavor IMO like Grapefruit & Expresso, I love the SP Extra best so far.
How about the smell of petrol?
I will throw out a few flavors that I think would be delicious!!! Apple Pie Creme Brulee Guinness Flavor!!
I for one would be eager to try something like berwick brown in texture with or without scenting.
You have done cheese and bacon why not go the whole hog and have a "full english breakfast"lol
Grand Marnier Chambord Crown Royal Jagermeister goldschlager cranberry I am sure the manufacture of these to be authentic would be quite pricey with permission of the manufacturers under trade marks rights and such.
Liquorice Aniseed Cough Candy ?
Blackberry, Blackcurrant, Mango (if you did mango I may actually have a permanent erection!!), Passion Fruit, Mojito, Lemon, Lemon Toast, Lemon Menthol, Spearmint, Pizza, Chili, Cranberry, Woodruff. I would buy all of these in snuff form!
i second Abraxas’ suggestion of light menthol with a camphor kick
@Skell18 that is a medical condition if that happens get to the emergency room fast. Though there is one mango snuff it’s one of the dholakia candy flavors (blast, wow, and something else I forget) not sure which one. I haven’t tried it yet which is odd because mangoes are the best fruit ever in my humble opinion.
@bob hahahahaha Will have to have a look at them, I agree, Mango is without a doubt the best fruit going, i can’t get enough of them!
though why is it so hard to teach people when a mango is ripe?
@bob you would think it would be easy, since it is easy, but no!
I know even with cooks it’s hard. Which is extra confusing. You can teach them when a honeydew is good but a mango just doesn’t seem to happen.
@Toque or @Roderick Rootbeer,Birchbeer and or Sarsaparilla for 2013 should be easy to pull off
I once accidentily got a rootbeer scent. It was clove snuff and medicated mixed just right. I know no where near as good as toque made rootbeer but worth checking out.
I would have to say a watermellon scent/flavor for me. Yum. Would be just wonderful and fit in with all the other fruity flavors.
Yeah, mangoes are tops in my book, although it may be a 3 or 4 way tie for first place. I agree they’re easy to judge for ripeness, easier than a pear or a melon… root beer would be easy enough I’d think, a top-notch root beer could take a while longer. I suggest drinking a Virgil’s root beer for inspiration…
Virgil’s makes a cream soda that is absolutely wonderful–like vanilla and old-timey sponge candy. Maybe if I mixed Toque toffee with Toque vanilla…I’ll have to try vanilla in my next order.
I’ve gotta try their cream soda, I always overlook it and just get the root beer. I do hope Roderick will get the itch to do a root beer snuff…
I think I would like a buttered popcorn scented.
Rhubarb. You could then pinch it with vanilla for that rhubarb and custard hit.
Nearly what I was going to suggest - give me a taste of my childhood Sundays with rhubarb crumble and custard snuff. Or apple pie and custard. Either would be lovely.
You know Paul Gottard has a Rhubarb Snuff that is not bad…
MrO, If you mix our Almond and our Cola you get very close to Dr Pepper.
I’ll have to try that when I get some of the Almond. I’m thinking more in the direction of a natural classic root beer, something like: sassafrass, sarsparilla, clove, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, etc with maybe a bit of vanilla and a slight touch of wintergreen. An open comment to all: seriously,(IMO)if you haven’t tried a Virgil’s root beer you really should. All natural, made from real herbal ingredients. Blows away any mass-market root beer I’ve ever had, by far…but I digress…
@Mr_O Virgil’s is a great root beer, but have you tried Henry Weinhard’s? It’s my favorite by far. Toque root beer would be awesome, I hope Roderick considers it.
@Maneikis I think that may be a northwest thing?
Samuel Gawith’s CCC is the closest thing to a root beer snuff that I have ever had. Good stuff!
@Zimobog I’m actually from the south, but it may very well be from the northwest region. Great stuff though. One of the only root beers I’ve found that has a true beer-like head.
@Maneikis I think they are outta Portland. Good rootbeer and good beer.
Samuel Gawith’s CCC is the closest thing to a root beer snuff that I have ever had. Good stuff!
Sigh, back to mrsnuff’s again. Will it ever end,
I’d try any natural root beer and most any natural soda I can find, just never seen Henry Weinhard’s before. I live in MN, if that makes a difference idk… Also, I forget the brand, but someone makes a natural jasmine tea flavored ginger ale, and it’s sooo good!
I have some Henry Weinhard’s IPA here in from Christmas, nice and hoppy. No idea they made a root beer. Bears looking into. Got some kind of special Virgil’s root beer for a gift, not sure what it is right now since it went to the back of the fridge, but its not the normal one. Its got a rubber gasket bail and clamp type stopper, like a Grolsh beer.
Xander- I’ve had that particular Virgil’s (assuming they don’t make more than one special edition brew), it’s good stuff. Maybe a little more nutmeg or something. They used to have it quite often at the local co-op. As I recall, Goose Island also makes some root beer and/or ginger beer. A related thing, I want to get some Fentiman’s tonic to try in a good ol’ Gin and Tonic…
For lovers of food flavored snuffs: Anchovy Paste Soy Sauce Ketchup and, best of all, for all those habitues of floral snuffs: the scent of flowering “amorphophallus titanum” (corpse plant) Patrick B. Ludwig
OK I"ve only tried a few toques, and I am debating weather or not to try any further. I have not liked the S.Gem, or the clove, the absinthe is okay, but on all of these, I dislike something in the base I think. It’s behind the smells and in all three. I hear so much about toque, but it just dosn’t hit me right.
Cinnamon Clove. And give it a huge bite.
@nosemboss If you want to check out the base grind that Toque uses, just get a tin of the Natural. IMO the Absinthe is nasty and the clove sounds like it would be worse than the Absinthe smelled. I really like the base grind. It has an almost grainy small that really makes my nose happy. I still tend to stick with the more mellow flavors like Natural, Natural Toast, SP, and the Fruits, but I enjoy them very much. I’ve never been a fan of spice or florals, so you really can’t take my opinion on those.

I’ve not tried these ones cept the clove. The other two are mixed in people opinions. Try some other ones (no hurry). Also when ordering toque sometimes you have to air them out cause the ammonia (a natural fermentation by product) can ruin the smell. I don’t like every snuff by my favorite companies. The toques you listed aren’t what I would suggest to see whats up with toque.
hi, some suggestions: - how about a ToToTo (toque tonka toast)? (potentially a masterpiece). - an olive-scented snuff also could be interesting.
Actually if you had some more cheese and bacon type toques, maybe a pepperoni or sausage, hey how about a pizza flavor with garlic and onions
I love earthy scents. Perhaps a Vetiver/Cedarwood type pairing is in order?
Sorry to hear that @Roderick, I’m sure you enjoyed creating new flavors. “so busy” is a good thing though and you do have many flavors already the latest of which I have yet to try. Carry on good fellow!
I have to second the butterscotch suggestion. Maybe a butterscotch scotch, lol. Also, I think a black tea snuff would be amazing. Black tea is probably my favorite smell in the world, and yet I haven’t seen anyone make a tea scented snuff…
I don’t think its possible to capture the scent of tea as its very delicate. Tea itself tends to capture other scents.
The thuoc lao Roderick was selling had a black tea scent. For a black tea snuff just put a bag of black tea in a small tin of Toque Quit or Natural or even Natural Toast.
I love the idea of a tonkin scented toast
I have now sampled about 15 different Toques and I have to say that Whiskey & Honey is my favorite by a mile. The scent is so complex. It’s not whiskey or honey. It has a smokey, barbecue sweetness to it. I will bulk up on this one.
It has a smokey, barbecue sweetness to it.
That’s because its a toast. It is one of the best flavored toasts out there. I’ve got it in bulk myself.
To comment on the original title (again) I have to talk about Cheese & Bacon again. My gripe about it has always been the lingering scent of the cheese. I decided to dedicate my work time to it the other day, and then spent my evening with non-nasal products. While I will say the cheese is less offensive as it was, the linger is still insane on that stuff. I left work at 3:30 and I caught a noticable whiff at 7:30. Seriously? 4 hours? You have to love the cheese for that one. Kudos for making a scent that really lasts, but damn. Cheese.
Well, it was intended to be offensive and a joke. Who knew people would actually like it.
Just took a pinch from my new toque cheese and bacon. the only problem i have, is i find it quite hard to take, just like the absinthe i got awhile ago, i ended up swallowing some (though surprisingly it didnt hurt, just coughed once), no matter how lightly i sniff (ive taken to just pushing it into my nostril and pushing the nostril closed to try and spread a little more now). the smell is great, though i have a question a friend asked when she saw it, is it vegetarian?
Love the Absinthe, can’t screw up the courage to try the CaB. Love EATING fine cheeses, but to deliberatly put it in my nose…I’ll go to my scores and scores of other beautiful snuffs.
Honey Badger. Thank you. Thank you. Alas this is not totally my idea. So the good folks at Toque might want to consider giving everyone on the forum free stuff and not just me.
I moved on to Toque Original today. Loving this one too.
Opium. I suppose it would taste like Tamarind and…well, anyway… :"> If Abraxas made it, they could call it Chasing The Dragun
Opium for real @RobeAndSlippers I would love that.
it be easy to scent your own that way. Most people think opium comes from poppies, but look at the name and you’ll figure out it comes from opossums.
though it actualy would be. The flowers grow easily and the scent should mostily be in the flowers.
Please don’t make “Musk, Yellow Mustard and Stinky Cheese”
Please don’t make “Musk, Yellow Mustard and Stinky Cheese”
Some how he added a don’t in there.
Depends if I’m feeling masochistic or not…
Bring out a snuff scented with yeast extract. People would love it or hate it. It would be the Marmite of snuff!* "See what I did there.
@Mr_O If you’re feeling masochistic, do a very large pinch of BOHICA. I eat a lot of spicy, to the point where you can’t see the plate because of the water in your eyes? But this Bohica stuff, holy shit. I can’t compare it to anything else. I cut it 10-1 with Swiss chocolate, and I still don’t like it. Straight, it’s worse than a broken nose. It must be made as a joke, or a gag or something.
Maybe some day. My membranes are still recovering from an unknown issue. I can take super hot in the mouth though, actually sounds good right about now, maybe some chicken vindaloo(sp?) or something Szechaun???
How about doing a few Quit-strength flavoured snuffs? Maybe try it out first with one or two of the most popular flavors? I love the idea of mixing chocolate with peppermint, but I can always do that myself.
I always feel compelled to come out vociferously in defence of Cheese & Bacon because I bloody well love it and hope @Roderick makes more weird and wonderful concoctions.
@JakartaBoy I believe SP Extra is Quit strength. Check it out!
Honey mustard and Ham
Maybe freshly-cut grass?
Maybe freshly-cut grass?
Yes, I suggested that one in a “what snuff flavour would you like to see” (or similar named) thread. Perfect for the Summer-time, memories of people out mowing their lawns.
That’s right. And while I love this smell I just can’t handle it in my town - because when it comes to cutting grass in my city, it is being cut everywhere at once. It is hard to breathe then. The only place I can enjoy it is my allotment garden few kilometres from Bydgoszcz. And I don’t cut grass there everyday, so this kind of snuff would be g-r-eat!
@Viertel Nothing beats the smell of fresh cut grass at dawn when you’re out with the scythe… Except rhubarb, I’de buy serious amounts of rhubarb snuff, SERIOUS amounts
@Viertel Nothing beats the smell of fresh cut grass at dawn when you’re out with the scythe… Except rhubarb, I’de buy serious amounts of rhubarb snuff, SERIOUS amounts
You mean… Sklep Fajkowo.pl - Fajki, E-papierosy, Cygara, Cygaretki, Tabaka
@Viertel Thankyou very much I’de still like Toque to do one, they seem to do everything better than anybody else !
Maybe Rhubarb-Strawberry. Its a popular pie in these parts. Another combo would be good for the Toque roster, I assume the Camphor & Clove and Coltsfoot are doing well.
@toque id like to try a toque hops, or toque chilli, horseradish, mustard, smoke like fireworks (ideas for a 5th november limited?) cut grass, an autumnal smelling herby one, root beer… just listing snuffs i think id like, not sure if they are all ideal for toque though, since i reckon some would be better more moist.
Yeah, @Roderick I reckon @Xander is probably right, as far as business goes a ‘rhubarb & …’ would probably sell better, or possibly a rhubarb crumble, just on its own it would perhaps be too tart for most folks. I’ve seen it come up on similar threads though so perhaps there would be a market for it…
I agree with @firestarter0 on the hops. Toque Hops would be amazing! I would buy that by the pound.
Let’s face it. @Roderick could take any existing snuff from another manufacturer and make his own version 10 times better.
@Roderick… How about something along the lines of Viking Dark, but maybe a little darker and stronger? I’d buy it by the bag!
@Roderick Peking Duck or Hoi sin or hoi sin duck scented snuff would be a right laugh, I would buy it!
I’de settle for rhubarb and custard ! On the idea of a beer/hops snuff what about ‘old pub smell’- that mix of smoke and stale beer that used to great you upon entering a proper pub before the smoking ban. You could take a good pinch of it in the pub and it would be just like the good ole days
Thanks for the compliments but, I’m sad to say I failed on the hops front. a couple of years back I tried to do a beer snuff but I just couldn’t get the beer flavour right.
If you failed in making beer snuff - what about Humulus snuff? Stammheimer Hopfen is hard to get.
fresh cut grass? Over brew some japanesse green tea then cook it down and top a natural snuff. It’s not perfect but close.
Desert Botanical? Earthy, Floral, Cactus Jelly, Sage, Lavender, Agave Nectar, Cactus Blossom, Desert Rain? A scent that makes you stare into the distance. A snuff of the Wild West? Wyatt Earp’s ashes? “respectfully of course”.
Creamsicle , Ambrosia, Guava Actually I really still want to see a moister version of Toque in natural tobacco flavors. Think Natural Toast or Whiskey and Honey but more moist.
@Roderick Sticking with the rhubarb theme, how about rhubarb and elderflower? Or just elderflower?
It would have to be Rhubarb and Custard! youtube.com/watch?v=zedq1VhaS90
A toque banana sounds pretty good
Many of the toques I’ve tried are just fine . Some of them , the flavor doesn’t come through as much … cherry is one that I was disappointed in whereas the Peach was fantastic and the flavor was right there . Absinth was a mind boggler , I was blown away by how spot on the flavor was . As great as all the flavored stuff is , I’d like to see Toque have some smoky bad a** " regular " blends . Their Quit is nice , but I haven’t had one of theirs yet that was much stronger or smokier than Quit … I haven’t tried the entire line so I may be mistaken . Think Swisher Square , is where I’m coming from , with a nic hit from somewhere near hell … lol .
I didn’t bother to see if anyone has yet suggested this either in general or to @Roderick, but I’d like to see a Toque “Hot Toddy” snuff. Maybe just an admixture of Whisky & Honey, Bourbon, Honey, Lemon, Ginger, maybe even substitute honey menthol for a regular honey. Add quit for an extra lift.
@ruffinogold try toque Bourbon and Kentucky Bourbon. Kentucky Bourbon is from their USA line but is finer than most other toques.
@DPadraig - maybe Christmas Pudding with some added Scotch flavoring?
I’m not a single floral fan but I love the smell of honeysuckle. Perhaps that’s one floral I could enjoy. Worthy of consideration.
Oatmeal!!! Kidding of course! An English Porter or Guinness flavor would be wonderful and end up being bull bought by me. Hmm. . . Now I need to visit this bar and order a porter. @Toque
Strongly agreed to Root Beer but also how about some other “smell-a-likes” to other fizzy drinks such as tonic water, apple cider or cream soda. Also toasted marshmallows, toasted rice, nutmeg or eggnog, melon such as cantaloupe, cucumber, Matcha green tea, Thai iced tea (do they have that in the UK?), similarly Vietnamese coffee w/the sweetened condensed milk would be a nice. On a completely opposite side of the smell spectrum; pine tar has a really nice stimulating aroma as do Japanese Shiso leaves and how about cedar wood, Bay Rum, strong cigar, dill pickle, salted plum/umeboshi, or tamarind?
How about something like Pine or “Balsam”
Maybe chocolate malt flavored?
Although I like a few of Toques products it has been about 2 years since I ordered anything new from Toque. I do recall being put off by sameness of the grinds and the short scent spans. Though berwick is a wonderful snuff. I would encourage further endeavors in that way.
I’d like to see a hops, not beer, just hops. A plain honey would be nice. I’ll support the pumpkin pie idea. Juniper or juniper menthol would do me well also.
Definitely a Bay Rum.
Im a huge Toque fan, and I too think Pumpkin Pie or Pumpkin Spice would be a very good idea. I still think Honeysuckle would be a good one too. Love the smell of Honeysuckles in the summer here. I am not too sure about the Hops scent. I brew beer and I do not think id like Hops in my nose. But that is just me. Love them in beer though.
I too have brewed beer and I love the smell of hops, I used to take handfuls and inhale deeply. The McChrystal’s HoppenScnupf is outstanding. It’s one I plan to buy in bulk with my next order. I think Toque’s interpretation would be nice to try.
