Hi there, I wonder why on earth you would want to make your own snuff when you can actually buy some no-nonsense products locally - that’s really out of my mind; such will would only make sense if you could not get any smokeless tobacco in your neck of the woods, as in my case of total deprivation, i. e. living in a region where sales of smokeless tobacco and procuring by distance means is prohibited; in your case, it’s not even economically feasible to make your own, and that factor aside, snuffmaking would be a major waste of your precious life, or time, if you will, and I sincerely advise against engaging in it - better play another round of petanque, chess, or football, cycle up or climb another mountain, grow your own vegies or flowers, visit gym, spend more time with your close and dearest ones etc - pretty much anything would be of greater therapeutic value than snuffmakery), but it’s good to hear that you do care about the ingredients and don’t fancy buying a cat in a sack (if this makes any sense) - yes, you have a right to know what exactly you are stuffing your nose with, if you have chosen to do so.
Fortunately, many snuff compositions are disclosed on the public databases of various health authorities in the EU. Some of them even provide data about tobacco blends and parts of tobacco leaf used. Some manufacturers disclose compositions and list the ingredients on tin labels (kudos to 6 Photo for disclosing their M. G. Madras formula on 100 g tin; cheers to 41 Photo for uploading test reports on their website - 6-ish% calcium hydroxide really does justice to fine dry tobacco dust).
