Small Snuff Boxes?

I’ve seen a few candy containers that would make good airtight boxes, but the problem is finding one that can be pinched from. Tap out containers are plentiful, pinchable ones not so much. I actually did find a candy container that looked airtight and could be pinched from, but unfortunately it was in the shape of a toilet…

Look at some of the wooden 2" snuff boxes that Mr. Snuff has for sale. https://mrsnuff.com/store/wooden-snuff-boxes-c-22\_1\_8.html?page=1&osCsid=51132675c9b51fb8586155664cb88d22

@howdydave: yeah I know, but I’m not keen on the sliding lids. I’m really trying to like them, but I’m still on the fence. I’m sure I’ll end up getting one sooner or later, and then I’ll love it and regret waiting so long.

i second Pot Poe’s recommendation … sounds like the smash box may suit your needs: http://snuffgear.com/index.php?main\_page=product\_info&cPath=14&products\_id=13 i had a small round silver snuff box from snuffstore and found it too small for pinches and tough to open without spilling. also, too expensive. but the small round plastic smash boxes are very inexpensive and keep snuff nice and fresh.

Whatever you do, do not buy any silver boxes that have roughly the same dimensions as a Top Mill tin - they are pill boxes and the hinges clog with snuff in about 10 seconds flat. As said, smash boxes sound perfect for your needs. They will also keep snuff better than real snuff boxes if you only open it a few times a week. @snuffbrant - that happened to me - I stupidly didn’t check the dimensions when I ordered and found the thing to be the size of a 5 pence piece and worthless. Remember the ‘useable depth’ thing? That should have been a big clue:(

Took me a few pages to locate this thread … BUT … question for those in the US … does anyone know where to buy anything similar to these 5g plastic smashboxes?

I certainly could order 20 or so to have on hand … just thinking about pill boxes, etc. that others might know about, and versus the $8 shipping from snuffgear, could just swing by a CVS, Target, etc. and grab something. It seems like the old film containers for camera film would fit the bill - but these days, all cameras are on an sd card.

Help appreciated.  Thanks.

You can get something similar at most places, drug stores, big box stores, and the like. If you don’t have an aversion to them, you will definitely find some in most headshops since they sell small containers that are supposed to be air tight to keep…erm, small amounts of herbal smoking blends in.

excellent … thank you, Harlequin. no aversion to any store.  ;)

I will tell you the $8 shipping is worth it. Thouse are the best smash boxes money can buy. Dense plastic, tight seal, fresh snuff for years. I have put thought into buying 1,000 straight from Lacons, but that would be ridiculous.

I have a bunch of these smash boxes in my US warehouse. If anybody in the US wants JUST these (lets say a minimum of 20) and no snuff, email me. You can have them for 55c a pop plus $6.95 S&H so I can pay my guy a couple of bucks to pack them up for you. I have half oz, one oz, and maybe even 2 oz. Anyway I’ll check if anybody is interested.

Dave

ok Dave … i will bite.  sending PM.

Me also.

Thanks Dave

So, my smash box went through the washer…and survived. The snuff inside was as good as before. All hail Lacons smash boxes.

Doc, I have some of the fancier silver snuff boxes myself, and they are strictly for home use.  I do have a suggestion for you which will be very easy if your are American:  Plastic dip cans.  I have one sitting on my desk right now that I’ve been using daily for a year, and it’s still in good shape.  As an added bonus, you get the dip that comes with the container.

The brands with the best cans are Red Seal and Timber Wolf–or actually anything with a plastic lid as well as bottom.  This leaves Skoal and Copenhagen products out, as they have metal lids, which don’t hold up as well.

The small snuff boxes on Mr Snuff are just over £4 - so anyone can buy a genuine snuff box now. I’ve stopped using my silver boxes as I just drop them all the time and they were getting battered. Nerve damage in my back has had the strange effect of making my grip rather inconsistent. Matches the one I have on reality I suppose. I’ve never liked taking snuff from brand cans, and these new small ones are spot on.
