Shipping and Handling Prices on MrSnuff - Big reduction

I thought members would be pleased to hear that we have drastically reduced shipping and handling charges on MrSnuff. This is a result of protracted negotiations with our warehouse. We have tried to apply the new S&H costs as best we can, spread as they are across various weight categories. We will review again in a month. I have tried to reduce the cost of tracking options (we cover half) since it benefits us all when packages are tracked. We’ll see how that works out. I hope you are pleased. It took a lot of effort, but S&H charges are a pet peeve of mine. Dave

This post needs a “love” button! Now I can spend more on snuff. I will be placing an order in the next day or two.

Woo Hoo! New order forthwith!

Probably going to make another order sooner now lol! Thanks Dave!

just ordered six 25g tins and two 10g tins and the shipping was $11.48 without tracking. Not bad, thanks mistersnuff!

…and just when I’m ready to place a small but nonetheless-significant-for-me order the website is inaccessible… ~X( In the meantime, I propose that Mr Snuff have a 1 day special each month, something like: ‘buy 1 snuff - get 2 free - with free shipping!’ Will make it much easier for me to choose which day of the month to order. =))

i just thought, one day a month, buy one, get one free (maybe a variety of snuffs pre-selected in a vote on here or something) with minimal shipping (less than a tin) could be a good way to try snuffs out on a beginners budget! that way itll follow suggestions for beginners so beginners wanting a cheap option will get ‘approved’ snuff as a freebie, and regular snuffers can take advantage using it to try snuffs they maybe havent yet.

Excellent move! Look forward to placing a new order soon.

Good move. Shipping costs matter a lot. For example I just terminated my Amazon.co.uk account because they suddenly quit their Free Super Saver Delivery option to European countries and implemented high shipping rates that make me look elsewhere.

@MrSnuff I appreciate your concern but I just started to place a $58 order and was directed to pay $26 dollars in shipping (tracking). Where is the"big" or “drastic” reduction? Like you, I believe that paying a shipping charge of almost 50% of the retail purchase amount is also one of my pet peeves and is enough to get me to not place the order. How do I find the lower shipping price you mentioned? What am I missing? Please help me to make this purchase with the reduction in shipping. I believe that Mr. Snuff deserves great credit and acknowledgement for running what appears to me to be a conscientious, honest business. Your customer service is highly admirable and it is clear that you aim to please your customers. Thank you.

I agree with Fred. The shipping is very high and Mr. Snuff is deserving of our respect and admiration. Andrea is an angel sent from heaven. Why is it I can send 4 lbs of coffee to UK insured and tracking number for $10 USD and it arrives in a week or less? Yet it costs $7.98 (with discount) to ship 3 tins of snuff from UK to US and it takes anywhere from a week to over a month? The timing isn’t Dave’s fault; it’s the postal services’ and customs’ ineptitude. I don’t think Dave is trying to overcharge his customers, and I totally support him making a nice profit. After all, without Mr. Snuff we’d all be screwed. Gone are the days when a phone call to Mike @ Mars Cigars, $25 and three days time resulted in a one pound drum of mill fresh snuff at your door. We have our idiots in Washington to thank for that lunatic PACT Act. We need to form a US Snuff Syndicate where we pool our financial resources into one bank account, appoint an honest individual with some spare time (and a good lawyer) and have that person place our combined orders on a weekly basis. We’d have to include shipping costs within the US in addition to UK to US shipping, but perhaps we can benefit from volume purchasing to offset those incremental costs. We all win. Mr. Snuff sells a shitload of snuff in large volume shipment units, we get our snuff faster, fresher and cheaper. And Andrea will see a serious reduction in email complaints. Thoughts?

@fredhanna‌ and @chefdaniel‌ first off, thank you for your kind words. It is much appreciated and makes a big difference to our enjoyment of what we do. Regarding the shipping costs, the biggest differences from before are found at the larger order levels. Tracking is a fixed additional cost to us of around $12, so at the lower levels it is significant. Once shipping reaches about $50 or so (from memory) we absorb more and more of that cost since it benefits us as well as you guys to be able to find out where parcels are, especially if there is a delay. It bears repeating that running the business from the UK but not living there incurs a lot of extra cost since we can’t pack and ship ourselves and have to pay commercial rates to a warehouse. We could keep shipping lower of course and absorb more of the total cost into the price of the snuff, but that would unnecessarily skew things in my opinion since it really is swings and roundabouts. One way or another the bills have to be paid. That said I am constantly tweaking the shipping and handling to make sure that at the end of the day we do not make a profit on it. I was quite aggressive this time around and I am hoping not overly so. We will find out in a couple of weeks. Regarding a US snuff syndicate: it will not work unfortunately because of tobacco import laws. Beyond a certain volume US customs regards it as not being for personal use and a tobacco import license (and all the attendant onerous reporting requirements, payment of various levels of taxes - federal, state, and city - etc) is required. Each state has their own set of laws as well as the Federal laws. The kicker though was some State Attorney requirements of disclosure of the recipients VERY personal details (for example, DOB, name, address, payment method, precise product details including number of units, weights, etc). Too much of an invasion of privacy in my humble opinion, which is why we decided it was not worth it. Hope that helps.

Doesn’t @Basement_shaman live in the U.S.? From what I heard, he has enough snuff to start a store if he wanted too. Not that I want him picked up by the law but, I thought his large order would look suspicious.

@MrSnuff: Dave, I just put in an order a minute or two ago, for slightly under $50 worth of snuff. Without tracking, the shipping cost was a bit under $10. With tracking, it was a bit over $25. I like the idea of tracking, but paying $15 extra for it doesn’t seem worth it. I thought you said tracking was a fixed cost of $12 and that MrSnuff would absorb some of that cost to reduce claims for lost orders? Did I get that wrong?

I remember when the price of a can of Bali Shag cigarette tobacco went from $10 to $36 over night. Anyway. Time is money, at least for me. People spend a lot of time moaning. But, sometimes I look online at antique snuff boxes. Now those are expensive. So I’m not saying I’d like to pay more for shipping, but we should all be glad that its not such a popular habit that its taxed to a unreasonable point.

@JakartaBoy‌ that is an error. I will check your order and the weights and try to find it. Thank you for pointing it out.

@MrSnuff‌, it was low weight for cost ratio - a titanium spoon and artisan snuffs will do that!

Yup, running low on 6 photo and I need more germans as well…Gonna place a order! Honesty in business is rare but a valuable commodity.

Just made my order. Turned out shipping went to about half of what it was before. Woo Hoo! I love this. I should really be cursing Mr. Snuff. They are enabling my newfound habit greatly. Keep up the good work. I’m a customer for life (and an unpaid spokesman at that  ).

@JakartaBoy‌ I found out why the big jump. It is because we are charged the same rate all the way up to 0.6Kg after which is starts to change as each weight band is crossed. So on a small light shipment it is proportionately more but when you hit the 600g mark then it starts to match what I stated above. Bear in mind weight is snuff plus tin, label, packing materials, outer labels etc. I attempt to average this out over all the parcels shipped but it is only an educated guess which is why I keep tweaking it.
