Samuel Gawith Kendal Brown

thank you @chefdaniel for the review. I never tried Kendal Brown’s before, sure not in the way you did. But about a week ago I received GH Kendal Brown. The first pinch I took was disgusting so I put the box in a draw. But this evening I gave it another go and I must say it is delicious! I read on another thread this happens to more persons. It’s just the same effect as when taking your first cigarette as a teen, but at about the third or fourth cigarette you love it and you are hooked. GH Kendal Brown is now standard in my pocket. It seems that the Kendal Brown Recipes are closely guarded secrets. The recipe is stored somewhere on the best secured bank of Kendal. But can anyone with some knowledge of (historical) recipes shed some light on the composition of the Kendal Brown’s? I’m sure there is some salt / potash in it since it leaves a slight salty taste afterwards.

@Salmiak‌ It was my pleasure. I think it is widely known here that I consider tap boxes evil and that they must be destroyed. I’m also something of a snuff slut, but I only take snuff on special occasions. Like when I’m alone or with someone, or awake. I’m not a fan of GH overall, but there are a few that I truly enjoy and KB is one of them. The same hold true for F&T, with the notable exception of HDT. Before I formed that viewpoint I gave each and every one of them a proper trial. I was lucky, I conducted this scientific research at their old shop back in the seventies. After trying several grams of each I decided they were great snuff that I couldn’t stand. HDT on the other hand disappears into my face at an alarming rate. My wife has so many empty HDT tins in her girl cave it looks like the back room at F&T. GH KB: Good Snuff.

Interesting that: MySmokingShop stocks KB Original, Scented, Special MrSnuff stocks KB Original, Plain, Special

Easy to take, nice tobacco smell from the tin, but a little uninspiring in the nose. Perhaps I’ll use it as a mixer. I like the tins though. This has a tendency to dry out in a snuff box I’ve found but it’s kept nice and fresh in the tin.

I posted only yesterday that I opened my first ever tin of SG Kendal Brown and I was enjoying it, but today I’m already bored with it. I agree good smell but that’s about it. Maybe I’m missing something about it…

I just posted my review of the KB Original
