@dubhdarra:a lighter jasmine than the G&H one That’s the weakest one I know. A bit too weak for me. I mix it up with WoS Jasmine (which is too pungent).bergamot orange There are dozens of these out there anything called “SP” usually has bergamot. Many of the Wilson’s moister ones also have some strong measure of bergamot. Also try deKralingse Prins Regent_orange and clove_ (medium grind and moisture) Together? Not that I’m aware. Try deKralingse Oranje,GH Dry Orange, Toque St. Clements. For clove try Dekranlingse Pompadour, McChrystal’s Clove, Toque Christmas Pudding_lemon and tarragon_ Will lemon and thyme do? Try Wilson’s Thyme & Lemon. They also have a nice Rosemary.hopps (nice because its also a preservative and anti-bacterial, i think a coarse wet would work best) McChrystal’s Stammheimer Hopfen Schnupf is the only one I know. Its not course and moist though.tawny port (in a very light toast) I’ve got nothing…allspice Christmas pudding again. Pompadour again. Bespoke Christmas Joy (harder to find). Nothing’s leaping to mind as Allspice specific, but many of the spicy ones have spice mixtures. Somone else wil know. lap sang soo chong tea with honey Many of the best Samuel Gawith Blends are very smokey. Black rappee, Scotch Black, there are quite a few really. To find one also sweet I’d send you to Germany and learn the wonderful smokey sweet snuffs and schmalzlers from Bernard. Might be tricky to nail that down precicely. Ermtony…help me out here!lemonbalm (medium grind and moisture, bright VA tobacco whatever that comes into snuff terms as) Not sure. Best straight lemon ones are McChrystal’s Mild Lemon and Wilson’s Lemon Grove.
apple flavoured snuff.
@ xander, thanks, i just copy pasted that and edited it into a shopping list with respect to the jasmine, i meant the tobacco was too dark/heavy for the jasmine, not that there was too much jasmine lol and the lemon balm isn’t lemon, its a kind of mint that smells a little like weak peppermint and lemongrass sorta. theres another (american) name for it but i dont remember what it is…
@dubhdarra, well perhaps someone else can help you with those. At least you have a shopping list to get you started. WoS Morlaix might have lemon balm, but that’s a guess. Its a softer perfumy floral mixture.
@Dominicshore: Try Samuel Gawith Apple.
is the grapefruit yellow or ruby, and is it mentholated? ruby red grapefruit with menthol, counter-intuitive combo but amazing aroma.
no its not mentholated. Most Toques mix with each other well, so get the Toque Menthol and have at it. I think I prefer it the way it is. Its probably yellow, but I can’t really tell. Roderick might let us know if he’s in a good mood. Its quite unique in the snuff world though and worth checking out.
Apple can’t be replicated naturally? That must be why the WOW! Apple Pie tastes nothing like apple.
I definatley get apple in Wow Apple Pie. Its pretty strong in my sample, if a bit sythetic. Just wrote my final review last night.
cool roderick, thanks i’m planning to go really light on the menthol anyway, i don’t have a particular fondness for it in general, just in the specific case. cant wait to see what you do wind up making!
Toque has fruit, meat, candy, booze, flower and laundry scented snuffs. What about vegetable flavored snuffs? Being half Irish, I’m sureI would enjoy a good Cabbage flavored snuff. Being half Italian, I can imagine enjoying a good Escarole flavored snuff. And how about a Ronald Reagan Tribute vegetable snuff. In keeping with his “Morning in America” spirit, introduce a vegetable snuff whose sole flavoring ingredient is Ketchup. Remember when The Great Communicator argued that schoolchildren who had ketchup with their lunch were getting a serving of vegetables?
Peanuts are really legumes which are peas & beans not nuts, so beans are more like vegatables and there is already a Toque Peanut Butter so there is already a Toque Vegtable snuff so the point is moot. Now you have to decide if you or I am being more silly. Ronald Reagan was a known jelly belly eater. Jelly bellys are jeally beans famous for their odd flavors and recipes for combining flavors. There are plenty of odd Toque flavors and scores of threads on snuffhouse with combo recipes (and even names) for new home made flavors. So that’s two connections to Ronald Reagan. Silly? Yes.
IMO, you couldn’t have a ketchup snuff without first having french fry snuff.
if they added ground beef you could use the cheddar and bacon to make a bacon cheeseburger and then add the ketchup to that and the fries, wash it down with a coke. think of it, they could market it as a combo meal.
I’ll admit last night starting to wonder why people couldnt make an edible tobacco product… was thinking of cinnamon toast (the food) and the way you just sprinkle a mix of cinnamon and sugar on your toast and voila… and for a half a minute wondered why we can’t have nice edible snuff like that. EDITED to add – really almost could do this with some of the super sweet American snuffs, and now that I have seen about Dentobac (and hopefully soon IPCO) really wondering why a jam or jelly (to be eaten as is or on a piece of bread etc)… to be eaten quite slowly, of course, and really savored before finishing it off… really isn’t possible
Carol, I like all your ideas and especially the french fry snuff got me thinking of a gravy or a poutine snuff. I wouldn’t mind shoving an avocado snuff or a smoked salmon toast up my nose, but it is almost dinner so all the food snuffs everyone has been recommending have been smelling delightful.
A Garlic and Oregano will suit me… or I can try my own.
I would like to see a Naga Jolokia scented snuff, I think it would go over well in india.Naga Jolokia link
snuffegnugen: Uh…I think that might kill you I wouldn’t want to shove a Ghost Pepper up my nose…
My sincere Toque suggestion: Champa Aka, Nag Champa. Why? Well, nag champa smells great, and for Toque, it would very unique. You’d think an Indian snuff company would make this, but I have not seen or found one. I’d also add a very slight enhancing menthol to it. I think on a business side, Toque Champa would really be well received and liked, if it did capture the essence of Nag Champa incense, with a slight menthol enhancement. This is what I’ve wanted for a long time.
