I’ve sent another e-mail, addressed to Dr Ernst Poschl this time. I reveived the following reply form Alexander Bremer, Head of International sales: “For some years we were only able to reach an annual sales volume of not even 10 KG all over the UK market”. That amounts to about 1400 tins per annum which is less than 4 tins per day??!!! Bulldust!!! He then refers me to Gawith Hoggarth for info of which Poschl snuffs are still available. So it’s not the labels but the low turnover which is the problem. Do Americans buy more Packards than the Brits?? Hard to believe! So that’s it. Once I’ve finished the Packards which I’ve ordered from mr snuff (that’s if it does not go astray), I will call it a day.
When I was in G Smith’s yesterday I noticed that they had quite a few tins of Robby’s on sale - they were quite expensive so I didn’t buy any, but I’ll be going back on Saturday now I know it’s been discontinued. Does anyone want a tin? Whisper or PM me.
It looks like My Smoking Shop in Preston still has Robby’s in stock.Link
I’ve got 5 tins of Robby’s in stock and I’ve ordered another 5. Once they’re done, I will be done with Robby’s but it should last me quite a while.
@ lxskllr You may be surprised. The shop where I bought my first snuffs (Knox Cigars) carried Packards. I bought a tin of Gawith Apricot and returned later to buy several varieties, including Packards.
four tins a day? man if you sold one tin in every american major city per day it be alot more. America is a huge place.
Well, I am buying it while I can in the US. Hopefully I will have a stockpile when it goes away.
I just found a liquor store that carries the novelty snuff Packards Club. Since I don’t budget my cash (just bank accounts) I bought two at double price. I love to snuff strait from the spigot and the color of the box is cool. The snuff is good enough for a menthol fix with eucalyptus and cherry hints.
Why don’t more snuff packages have built in spoons. I’ve often wondered if this snuff would really smell the same from a tub or regular poschel package.
The 1st time I stopped in a Tobacco shop specifically looking for nasal snuff, I got Packard’s Club, and he had some other Poschl items, I also picked up Ozona Spearmint. Tom502
In response to bob’s old post… My preffered way to take packards is actually to pinch it too me it is much nicer ( i actually pry open the box and pinch it) but it’s only an occasional snuff for me.
Hey Big D…what is the name and address of your local. I would like to add it to the site. Or you can if you like. It is good to give the Brick and Mortar stores the kudos they deserve for stocking ANY snuff…and you never know when they realize that snuff comes in varieties other than Poschl and that there are plenty people out there who would buy it, maybe they will be encouraged to stock more. You can add the store here: add a storethanks, Dave
Packards Club was one of the first snuffs I tried, and I still use it occasionally…like a treat or dessert…usually in the evening. I hate to think I may one day have to be without it if they curtail sales in the USA as they apparently have in the UK, but I’m sure I would find a replacement and life would go on. Any suggestions as to similar snuffs ?
I think there is only one packards club. Which is sad since it’s got a following.
Mars apparantly has a lot. Its on sale there now due to overstock. I’m not a great lover of menthols, so its not one I’ve tried or sought after. Even saying that, its a shame to see any snuff die. Though I think it will remain available in the US market.
My initial love for menthol is not dead at all, but I guess progressing from newbie stage, I now am liking a lot of the non-menthols just as much and oftentimes I think more. My snuffs I brought to work today are non-menthol, Toque Chocolate, and Blast Cola&Champagne.
I see Snuff Store is selling Packards Club again!!! How did you manage that Tim?
