Packards Club

Packards Club is not avaiable in the UK anymore. Mr Snuff now have a special on Poschl snuff which includes Packard Club. And if you order for $20 or more, you get free shipping. I’ve used my last crumbs of PC about 2 months ago and have been craving it ever since. Now I have a couple of tins on it’s way plus some other nice goodies. Go for it if you love that snuff, is worth it.

Good tip, Pieter. I picked up a few tins of PC myself a couple of weeks ago. I got nervous about running out! Packards is one of those snuffs that you either love or hate. Count me in as a lover! Really unique, musky aroma and one of the coolest tins/dispensers around.

I enjoy a prise every once and a while. This used to be an everyday snuff for me, but it grew tired after a few tins. I wonder why they are no longer selling it in the UK, pretty odd.

Hi All, Something about it not being ‘cost effective’ to print the labels in English. This was a while back (middle of last year) and supplies at the various wholesale sources of Packards ran out pretty quickly in the UK. I’ve been badgering Poschl and their UK importer to change the stance, but there doesn’t seem to be any movement on it. Kind Regards TimSnuff Store

Well, if they don’t want to print the labels in english… then chances are that it will be extinct here in the US as well. What a crock.

I e-mailed Poschls about this nonsence and got the same reply as Tim. Personally I think it’s a lot of bulldust. I don’t believe they sell more Packards Club in the US than in the UK. Both countries need English labels, so what’s the problem?? Maybe every member should e-mail Poschls about it. If they receive a 1000+ e-mails, they might change their attitude!! How about it, ladies and gentlemen?? Let’s stand together and show our determination

Good call Pieter… Here is the address: poeschl@poeschl-tobacco.de I notice the Alpina snuff isnt stocked by a couple of UK stores either, perhaps for the same reason?? Perhaps someone could write an email on behalf of this forum too, as well as individual emails?

According to Poschl’s web site their address is… .com?

I just received an email from Pöschl re. Packards Club:-_Dear Mr. B ***** ,

We hope you enjoy our other products as well.

I almost replied to tell her what she could do with Pöschl snuff.

I too contacted Poschl, about Packard’s Club, and Robby’s Top Mint as I heard that was to be discontinued too. I haven’t gotten a reply yet, but it’s only been a few days.

This is the address I sent to:- poeschl@poeschl-tobacco.de

I’m not 100% certain, but I think I heard from someone on the chat, that it was not being made anymore. Maybe NoseBag would know if he’s still on.

They still have it Here but I don’t know how long it will last.

EDIT: I was getting Robby’s and Packard’s Club mixed up.

Robbies is finished in the UK, it went before Packard’s Club last year - it might still be available elsewhere. I have a few ‘outers’ left but I’ve not put them on the site as they appeared a little ‘ropey’. I’m not entirely sure of the situation with Packards as I’ve had conflicting information. It’s certainly not available from suppliers in the UK anymore - supplies at Poschl’s UK importer ran out in the middle of last year. It may still be available in a few UK shops depending on their turnover I suppose. I had a matching email from Poschl on the Packard’s Club situation and posted it back in August 2007 on Packards Club SOS. Even more annoying is that Packard’s Club is originally a British blend that is no longer available in the UK. Although according to this page the trademark is due to run out in 2010, I can’t see them letting it lapse… It does seem strange in a time of increased public awareness and interest in snuff to withdraw blends. Fortunately other manufacturers haven’t decided on this route and are still producing old favourites and inventing new blends. Ta-Ta TimSnuff Store

I noticed the name Radford on that sheet. Poschl also makes a “Radford’s” snuff. It’s pretty shotty that they have discontinued a UK brand… in the UK. Bad business if you ask me.

I have done a bit of trade mark checking on Radfords and Packards Club. The trade marks in the UK are notionally owned by a company called John Brumfit & Radford Tobacco Ltd, which seem to have an address at 54, Hillbury Avenue, Harrow Middlesex, United Kingdom - which I think is likely to be an ‘accommodation’ address (probably a domestic house judging by Google maps - may be a solicitor for instance). The company does submit accounts, but they are variably and are noted as ‘token’ or modest - ie no real turnover (the company may only be ticking over from licensing fees from Poschl for instance - which lets face it, won’t be huge). The correspondence address looks like it is actually Poschl in Germany - which makes a lot of sense - but is unexpected. I suspect that Brumfit were ‘acquired’ by Poschl in some way (wholly or in partnership) - but I am not sure why they haven’t transfered the trade marks to Poschl by now, or why they are discontinuing distributing into the UK - except that coincidentally the trademarks are coming up for renewal in 2010 and 2011 (I suspect Poschl have got international trade marks if there are any). it could be that they are being licensed by a sleeping partner (or the estate of a deceased partner), who they wish to discontinue working with. But as I said, there seems to be little income coming into the UK. So it is somewhat mysterious. The company (or the original John Brumfit Ltd) was established in 1947, but there oldest trade mark dates from 1979 - Packards Club Snuff. The Radfords trade mark was registered in 1980, so my guess the two companies merged in some way. The Brumfit brands are: Packard’s Club Snuff Radford’s Thomas Radford Sunday’s fantasy John Brunfit of London Allegro Summertime Rhapsody genius Qunitessence Slightly interesting eh? TTFN. PS - just spotted, the Trade Mark agent is the same as the company address - so it is definitely an accommodation address, with the brands being licensed. I could probably find out why… if I dug further…

lxsklir, thanks for letting me know. I just LOVE that snuff, will order some right away with some more Packards Cheers Pieter

Poschl did get respond to the email I sent them, and they said Robby’s Top Mint, and Packard’s Club were deleted in the UK, but Packard’s will still be available in the US. They didn’t say if Robby’s will still be available in the US, so it probably isn’t. It’s a sad day to be a snuffer :frowning:

In germany Pöschl deleted the McCartney snuff - fortunately nothing that i miss.
