Poschl: Packards Club, Gawith Apricot, Lowen-Prise, Ozana President

Okay so my order of snuffs came in, and i figured i would tuck away my GH and SG snuffs till tomorrow. I tried each of the Poschl brands i orderd, i would try one, bum around youtube for 10 minutes, rinse my nose out, and then try another. Btw, prior to this i had tried no other snuff than Poschl Red Bull.

Ill start with Lowen-Prise, i didnt really know what to expect so i had to try this one first. I was blown away, the licorice (Anis) definantly overpowers the typical psochl menthol. I dont think my friends would enjoy this very much, as the flavor is kind of a bitter flavor, or perhaps bold is a better term, if anyone has tried this they will understand what i mean. The strong flavor it has is somthing i really enjoy, and i will definantly purchase this in the future.

President was the next one i tried, and i didnt really know what to think of it, it was basically like red bull except a couple steps down the ladder, meaning the menthol and eucalyptus is not as strong as red bull, but i didnt notice anything else much different. If anyone has tried this one or red bull aswell, tell me what i am missing if i am.

Packards Club… I have never had a fruity snuff before, and wow this is fantastic. When you first sniff it, the menthol overpowers the fruity scent, which i actually can not point out any specific kind of fruit, citrusy i guess, its just fruitiness. Dont misunderstand me though, is not an overpower fruitiness, its very medium, and it does not overpower the menthol until after about 30 seconds. Both flavors last quite a while. Very nice, probably a future purchse. Oh and this ones had a very odd tap box, its a switch that exteneds a piece of plastc that has a portion of snuff on it. Its convenient, but at the same time it doesnt give you the same freedom of making the pinch the size you want. If you tap the box harder you will get a bigger portion, but the little plastic cube still limits what you can do, also if you dont tap it before using it you wont get any snuff on it, so taping out pinches to all your annoying friends who want to try it mightbe a little more difficult than with other poschl tap boxes.

Lastly Poschl Gawith Apricot. This one was really nice, I guess all Poschl has menthol, but of all the ones i tried, this is definantly the lest mentholy, probably somthing Gawith wanted. The apricot flavor is absolutly fantastic!  More so sweet than citrus. This snuff also seemed to be the least harsh of all the ones i tried, possible has somthing to do with the minimal menthol in it. At first it felt like the apricot flavor goes away too soon, but you soon realise that it comes and goes, and does this to you for quite a while, but i can definantly see myself doing this one with minimal space between pinches in order to get that apricot favor back up there, very nice, probably a future purchase.

Thats ll for now folks, hope you like my review, i hope you add to it and give me some thoughts and feedback.

The SG Apricot was the first one I ever bought twenty some years ago, and new batches seem pretty much the same.

One thing I’ve experienced with the President- and this may be a very subjective thing- is that I don’t get a very eucalyptus-y scent from it, I tend to get an anise/liquorice effect for some reason. Long before I heard this has eucalyptus, I never would have guessed. This recurred years later, so it wasn’t the particular batch.  Is this just me? Is this an olfactory illusion where two scents combine and give the impression of another which is not actually present?

And my two cents on the Poschl menthol question, I think, with my experience that the lowest menthol level would be the Radford Premium Mild, followed by the packard’s. The highest would probably be the Radford in the large tins, second place (I’ve not tried the Red Bull) one of the following FC Bayern, McCraigs, or Gletcherprise. The SG Apricot, and the Ozona’s seem to be in the middle with the president the highest of the ozonas. If this rambling is actually helpful to anybody I don’t know. Haven’t tried them all, but more than not. Forgive my ramblings…
