Now That We Have Them Rate the New Dholakia Snuffs

I didn’t count the Fubar, that is very good I think…

Well, I just included that as it’s a Dholakia made. I also have those Q Snuffs on the way, and some actual Dholakia labeled ones coming too. Overall, I really like Dholakia, they may be my fave company, but maybe the vast amount is good for them on a business end, I don’t know, but it seems sometimes they are experimenting too much. I tend to think if I was a snuff company I’d want maybe a great 10 solid snuffs that stand strong on their own, than 50 so so ones, and a the 10 as well, but I don’t know how it works businesswise. I suspect these all get an initial sale, to try out, but the ones that get the rebuys would show which are the most liked.

OK, here is my short “initial review” of the Dholakia “Designer” label snuff: Blast Brandy Maple. 10g can. Upon opening it, the aroma is very present. It’s a sorta sweet smell of what does remind me of brandy, very nice. A definate alcohol drink essence to it. The color is a light, but maybe reddish brown, but a deep full color too, with a few lighter specks. I’d call the grind fine, and semi moist. Pinching a small pinch on the back of the hand, pinches very easy, does leave some aftermath on the fingers. Initital sniffs, it goes in easy, very slight good burn. The nose aroma is like the smell itself. 1st sniff had the essence not lasting long. 2nd sniff about the same. Using small sniffs. Now getting some nose drip. After just a short time, the aroma/flavor in the nose, I just don’t detect. 3rd sniff, after a little nose wipe, initial slight burn, very nice initial flavor as stated before, it sure sticks to the fingers. Quick to make my nose run. Overall, not bad, a 1-5 rating, maybe a 3.5, only because the initial smell and flavor is pleasant, but very short lived. It’s a use-up, but for me, not a re-buy. Not bad at all, though to me, not a stand out either. My nose is running a bit now. I had to blow my nose by the time I finished the review post. Maybe too much snuff, but I did use 3 very small sniffs. Note: My short reviews are based on my own limited snuff experience, and tastes, or lack of, and my initial experience with said snuff. Others will, and probably should have differing views somewhat, and in time, my opinions may change as well.

my short “initial review” of the Dholakia “Designer” label snuff: Temptation Lime & Lemony 10g can. Upon opening it, the aroma is only slightly present. Taken up to the nose, it’s a sorta lemon/lime faint, not sweet. Not strong at all, and smellwise, not much to it. The nose aroma is not bad at all. 1st sniff has a decent linger, and a definate “lemon” essence. 2nd sniff about the same, decent lasting flavor, kinda reminds me of a dish soap, but not in a bad way. Using small sniffs. Slight nose moisture occuring. Waiting a bit for the 3rd sniff, after a little nose wipe, 2 small sniffs probably enough. Did a 3rd small sniff. Seems to have a good “hit”, but not being a nic freak, I’m not really sure. Not overly nose moisture inducing, still have the pleasant flavor as stated before. Sticks to the fingers. Overall, not bad at all, I would say good, a 1-5 rating, maybe a 4.25. I call this a very possible re-buy. Not bad at all, and a unique stand out. Still don’t feel the need to blow. But I think I will and do another sniff. Yeah, this one is good, maybe a little Palmolivey, but has a nice fresh lemon/lime linger, and not much nose irritation. Note: My short reviews are based on my own limited snuff experience, and tastes, or lack of, and my initial experience with said snuff. Others will, and probably should have differing views somewhat, and in time, my opinions may change as well.

My short “initial review” of the Dholakia “Designer” label snuff: Wow! Coffee Bite 10g can. Upon opening it, the aroma is present but not overbearing. Taken up to the nose, it’s a very nice aroma of fresh ground coffee beans. Very fresh and pleasant smelling. The color is a darker, but with reddish hue, a deep full color, with a few lighter specks. I’d call the grind medium-fine, and medium moist. Pinching a small pinch on the back of the hand, it pinches very easy, and leaves some on the fingers. Initital sniffs, it goes in easy, very slight good burn. The nose aroma is great, like inhaling a fresh ground, or even non ground bag of coffee beans. 1st sniff has a very good full flavored linger, and a definate coffee essence. Lasts quite a while. Taking my time to take a 2nd sniff, as it remains very satisfying with just one. No nose moisture and still that nice aroma. Well, now taking a 2nd small sniff, and putting the lid back on, as a 3rd is not needed at all, as this is just excellent. Still no nose moisture occuring. No need to nose wipe, 2 small sniffs was fully enough, 1 was actually, and fully satisfying. Seems to have a good “hit”, but not being a nic freak, I’m not really sure. Still has the pleasant flavor as stated before continuing to linger nicely. Overall, an excellent snuff, and only now getting some slight nose moisture, and doing a small wipe. From a 1-5 rating, I give it a 5. A definiate re-buy, even having rated 2 others just before this. Very much a unique stand out. Note: My short reviews are based on my own limited snuff experience, and tastes, or lack of, and my initial experience with said snuff. Others will, and probably should have differing views somewhat, and in time, my opinions may change as well.

Nice reviews tom, I found them very helpful.

BigSnoot- thanks, I just felt like trying to make a “proper” review of some, didn’t want to push it more than 3 as I did them in a row. Full of mispells I am sure too. But after the 1st sniff one can usually have a reaction of, “eh, it’s OK”, “not bad”, “now this is very good”, or the rare, “wow, this is awesome”. Maybe my next “reviews” will just be, “No”, “Maybe”, and “Yes”.

tom, you may want to also post your reviews at snuffreviews.com. I don’t know if they are having a drawing currently but occasionally a shop will award prizes to reviewers.

@Xander. I’m trying to get Al to get another going.

I was sniffing some Blast Whisky Honey, and noticed on the can, it does say, “Dholakia Tobacco” on it, next to the “Made in India”. I wonder if someone noticed how some were not to happy of the various label names, and the lack of the Dholakia name on the cans, as the Fubars and Rockits don’t mention it, but the new ones do? I am glad they did, even though I could tell right off.

I think anyone can buy put whatever name they want on a dholakia product if they buy a large enough quanity. You can make your own blend and call it whatever you want, dholakia will produce it for you and you can sell it however you want. I think that’s the case with fubar and rockit. I think the new dholakia flavors are just a new line of dholakia, nothing more.

There is also a new law in place that makes food companies declare the country of origin, maybe they lumped Tobacco in with it.

Cstokes, I don’t think tobacco has country of origin requirements, at least not for everything. I wrote to Santa Fe Tobacco Co to ask why they have sell an all US grown blend as seperate from their others. I use their organic blend which they informed me was from several US sources but also Brazil. It doesn’t mention country of origin on the package, but they were very helpful and informative when I inquired. tom502: FUBAR, Rockit and QWS are all contract brands. Made and packaged by Dholakia, but not sold by Dholakia. Mr. Snuff owns these (I think) for the US market. He explained the relationship on some past threads.
