would like members to discuss DHOLAKIA snuff new flavors receives as samples.

N

hello guys! invite all members to post their reviews on DHOLAKIA SNUFF new flvs (who received new snuff flavors as free samples from retailors with their orde).

J

Yeah! What are the girls snuffing now days?

X

Hello Namrata! Since you asked and since I recieved a sample of Apple Pie snuff today, I will oblige. I find this a very spicy snuff. By this, it is not hot or burning, but flavorful and complex. I can indeed taste the hint of apple. Its more like a spicy apple dessert than a pie. I taste cinnimon, allspice, cloves, and maybe nutmeg in this. It has a very Christmas time feel to it. The grind is medium, and the nicotine is medium to medium-high. I don’t detect any menthol, but I got a nice nose clearing effect with this. My nose started to run just now after about 3 minutes in so I had to blow. However I still am getting a nice spicy-sweet flavor. A bit is getting to the back of my throat, but not much, and it is easily cleared and not painful. I can’t make this an all day snuff, I can see this one as more of an after dinner or evening treat maybe once a day. I look forward to the rest of the new flavors! This one is great. Well done! Please pass on my compliments to your team.

X

What girls?

N

thanks Xander!!!

N

girls…???

A

I received my samples today, thankyou. You and Toque seem to be leading the way when it comes to inventive flavours and Im sure they will be a success for you.

S

I also received the Coconut Toffee sample from snuffstore. The flavour is spot on, quite amazing. Unfortunately I am not keen on coconut.

C

I just tried the Mango Cream. Very enjoyable. Not overbearing. Makes me want a margarita.

S

Based on Dholakia’s last blends, well all their blends really, I can’t wait to try some of these. Their last new snuffs have become daily picks for me and these flavors are…original. I wish I knew about Dholakia and Toque years ago!

A

Coconut … i love coconut!

S

Finally got to try one, the Mango Cream too, not disappointed. I’m looking forward to trying the rest now, especially the Wine and Cheese. Between Dholakia and Toque, I’m forgetting all about many of my other snuffs, these two are making some unbelievably good snuffs!

E

The postie just brought me a little cloth bag from India Must say I am impressed with what I’ve tried so far. I have these to go at: Brandy with Maple Rum and Raisin Whisky with Honey Port Wine with Cheese Gin and Tonic Cola Campaign Reviews to follow.

N

Hi All, We’ve still got a pile of samples left and have been including them in the orders over the last few weeks. It’s lucky dip as to what you’ll get, but I’m sure Namrata will be pleased for any feedback she receives on here. Ta-Ta TimSnuff Store

P

I’ve received some samples from Namrata and are working through it one by one. At this very moment I have some Portwine with Cheese up my nose. First thing that struck me like lightning, is the nicotine hit!! WOW, it gives a real BUZZ. Aroma is of sweet wine, cannot taste the cheese yet. I might finish off this little bottle before nightfall if I’m not careful!! Very, very nice indeed. Congratulations Namrata, Dholakia’s got some new winners AGAIN!!!

B

Samples are going out with every order here as well. Tom NicotineRush.com

C

Needless to say, once these get released, it’s gonna be order time.

T

I just received Whisky With Honey and Chocolate Orange with my order from Snuffstore. I must say that the WWH is very very good - the honey is immediate, and the whisky is more of a Bells/Teachers vibe rather than Toque’s Islay malt. Not quite so sure about the Chocolate Orange, I can taste the chocolate fine but the orange seems to be eluding me. I must say I fancy trying the Portwine & Cheese and Brandy & Maple varieties - oh dear, more snuff expenditure, ho hum…

J

I got the fruit cake w/vanilla with my last nicotine rush order. I get a nice fruity, cackey, coffee taste up front and the vanilla fades in after a few seconds. The sent lasts longer than most. It is best in the morning when I can linger in bed and don’t have to rush off. I can see this one becoming a weekend morning tradition vary easily. I can’t wait to try the wine & cheese and the roasted nuts. I hope Tom has stock when I order next week.

X

I remember Bubble Up! Wow, I haven’t seen that in years. But how is Lime and Lemony a change of pace from a citrus regimen? I think I favor citrus a lot myself too, Lime and Lemony is probably my most looked forward to of the new Dholakia’s. When are they going to market? Its taking forever…

X

Gotcha. A new horse, but still a horse. On a related citrus note my own lime tree is blooming like mad right now. My lemon tree has a few blooms and my orange tree none. The room they are in smells heavenly when I go in there. I wonder if I should try to scent a snuff with them? Mind you, the flower smells quite a bit different than the fruit.

L

I got a sample of American Caramel today. I can really taste the caramel in it. My only complaint is that it is hard to get out of the nifty little bottle it came in because it is packed so full!! I guess that’s not really a complaint

C

@leman, I hear you. I spilled some of my precious Mango trying to get it onto my hand. I can’t wait until these are officially released.

B

From Tom at Nicotinerush.com received today. I have just tasted Port Wine and Cheese. It is really nice and tasty. Big Nicotine hit. Can’t make out the cheese, but there is something there. I suggest you try it. Also American Caramel. It is nice and has a big Nicotine hit also, Tastes kinda chocolate like not sure where the caramel is. I would love to try a sample pack of all the new Dholakia samples. I like them all so far.

C

I’ve tried the Portwine. The cheese flavor doesn’t suit me, but it’s a good snuff. I want the Passion Fruit, Raisin Rum Maple something or another. I don’t think that there is any other Maple snuffs.

E

Okay, here are my initial thoughts on three of the six samples I received. Brandy with Maple Medium-fine, fairly moist and a rich mid-brown colour, this is one superbly scented snuff. It’s big on both the brandy and the maple and reminds me very much of one of the fruitier German Schmalzler in terms of flavour, though not, of course, in grind. While sweet, it doesn’t cloy and while fairly fine, it is still an easy snuff to take. Excellent stuff! ***** Rum and Raisin This smells and tastes just like the name suggests, with the sweet, dark rum flavour predominating slightly over the raisins. Fairly fine grind but moist enough as well. It’s easy on the nose and the flavours linger for quite some time. I feel this is more of a desert snuff than one I would use all day. And I do like a nice dessert! **** Whisky with Honey A rich and sweet honey flavour with a suitably astringent background from the whisky. What an excellent snuff! My initial worry was that this would be too similar to Toque’s excellent offering but no worries on that score. The grind is coarser (medium rather than fine) and the moisture level higher (medium rather than dry) making this quite a different snuff. Like the Rum and Raisin this feels like more of a dessert snuff than an all day one. Having said that I have been using it on and off all day. The aroma is delicious and the flavour lingers nicely. Superb! *****

S

Tom sent a sample of Apple Pie with my order. Very impressed am I. This is a complex and well balanced snuff. It succeeds in capturing the impression of a warm slice of a freshly apple pie. Notes of cooked apples, caramelized sugar, butter, cinnamon and maybe some nutmeg or mace. This is a medium grind, moist snuff and very easy to take. The aroma stays around for a long time. I want to sprinkle it on French vanilla ice cream. Edit update: OK it’s a few days later and I’ve had more time to enjoy this snuff. I’m not sure I get apples really, but delicious spices - I think clove and nutmeg are in it. This is a very enjoyable snuff.

E

And now my thoughts on the other three that Namrata kindly sent, plus one that Tom sent as a sample with my order for American scotches. Port Wine with Cheese I have to say I approached this one with some trepidation. The idea of flavouring snuff with cheese just seemed a little strange. Port? Yes, certainly, and the port flavouring in this snuff is deep and distinctive. And then that gentle background of ripe Stilton insinuates itself into the olfactory senses. Oh yes, that works! The port flavour disappears fairly quickly but I find that I get reprises of the cheese, most pleasantly, for quite some time after indulging. The snuff is of a fine to medium grind but quite fluffy and moist, so is easy on the nose. This has to be the perfect after dinner snuff. It goes perfectly after dinner. With port and Stilton of course. ***** Gin and Tonic Before I make any comment on this snuff I ought to admit to not being at all keen on gin or tonic water as drinks. With that in mind I expected to feel the same about the snuff but I find I actually quite like this one. It is of a similar medium-fine ground and medium moisture level to the other snuffs in the range and the colour is similar too (a reddish mid-brown). While I can detect the flavourings in this, I don’t find the snuff at all unpleasant and the overall effect is quite refreshing. Perhaps I need to revisit G&T the drink! *** Cola Champagne I’m not quite sure what to make of this snuff. It’s sweet (perhaps a bit too sweet) and easy to take but I can’t put my fingers on the flavour. Granted I don’t tend to drink cola but I can detect nothing cola-like in there. As for champagne, nope. Not a sign. The underlying tobacco is good enough of course but the flavouring seems to miss the mark. It’s harmless enough and I’m sure some people will like it but it really isn’t for me. ** American Caramel Aha! This is where we get to shove a Caramac bar up our noses! Now I used to love Caramac but I’m really not sure about using it as a snuff flavouring. It’s isn’t bad at all but I find the sweetness gets in the way of the tobacco flavour to some extent. Like the other new snuffs from Dholakia, it’s not too fine and it’s moist enough that nobody’s sinuses/throat/lungs are going to suffer however hard you sniff. I expect this snuff will appeal to beginners and as such it won’t be a bad place to start. At least there is no menthol involved. ***

T

So ermtony, if I were to write to namrata I might be able to get a few samples? I’m particularly interested in the Port & Cheese, Brandy & Maple and Rum & Raisin. Are the samples sent randomly or can you request specific flavours?

E

It can’t hurt to drop her an email (or a whisper on here) and see what happens. I think that’s what a number of us here have done. From time to time I get a small cloth parcel with samples to try and then I write up my thoughts on the snuff. I haven’t made any specific requests so I’m afraid I don’t know whether that’s possible. Do let me know how you get on. If it’s a no no I’ll send you one (or part of one) of the ones I have. The samples come in the small plastic bottles that go with the smallest size of bullet, though they are well packed, often needing a toothpick to loosen up the snuff. I really ought to add these reviews to the Snuff Reviews site as well.

M

I wrote Namrata a while back, she said she was sending samples to the online retailers so they could include them with orders. It makes a lot of sense to me. It cuts down on shipping and weeds out the “fakers” that just want something for free. Aparently all the manufactors are getting hit with thousands of sample request from Lithuania or someplace like that. I’m not refering to us, of course.

E

Bad? Why’s that?

M

Luckily I can afford to buy my snuff, but i do hate getting something that I don’t like. I wish someone could put together these new dholakia flavors in something similar to Tom’s american scotch sampler pack. I definitely want to try all 18 flavors but I’m not sure I want 10grams of each.

J

I must be the only one who got the fruitcake w/vanilla on here. Anybody else get that one. I quite like it and would like to hear other views.

J

Big Blue I get a hint of coffee in it that melds with the cake and the vanilla comes in after. Do you get the coffee?

B

I second that thought skammer, I am eagerly awaiting these to be available for purchase as well. I am a big fan of Dholakia snuffs, I need to order some more Sparrow Green but have been holding off until I can get these new ones to try out along with it.

J

Tim is sending me a roasted nuts sample with my order I can’t wait. my fruit cake is just about gone.

P

I’ve been going a bit slow on the strong snuffs lately because I’ve developed a hernia low down on my left side. So I’m shit scared of sneezing! But I’ve tried my 6 samples which was kindly sent to me by Namrata and this is my view: 1) Whisky & Honey = totally different from Toque’s W&H. Different whisky aroma which last longer. No honey taste but rather sugar. This is a very nice snuff but I tend to compare it with Toque’s and then it loses out. 2) Cola Champagne = Very nice and sweet, long lasting aroma but neither cola nor champagne. 3) Rum and Raisin = This flavour also is my favourite ice cream, so it was love at first sniff. The dark rum flavour is outstanding and long lasting and makes the snuff VERY moreish. Still trying to find the raisins. 4) Brandy with Maple = WOW…this is good!! The brandy aroma is very potent and LONG lasting while the maple leaves a visiting card. I love this stuff. 5) Gin & Tonic = I’ve tasted the Bespoke G&T which did not really impress me. Namrata’s G&T is much better but I’m not a gin fan, so I will this one go by. 6) Portwine & Cheese = This is THE one for me!! The wine is nice and sweet, very distinct and very, very moreish. The cheese comes in as a faint after glow and I would have liked it to be a bit stronger. When I received my samples, this was the first one I’ve opened and I almost “downed” half of it during one afternoon!! I see this as in the same class as Swiss Chocolate…an one and only and never to be copied successfully by anyone. All the snuff is the usuall medium to fine Dholakia grind and just the right amount (for me) of moistness. But…as I’ve said to Namrata, when I think DHOLAKIA, first pictures in my mind will always be Manjul, Swiss Chocolate, Gange, Kamal and the Sparrows!!! Those are my absolute favourites and NOTHING can replace them on my list.

M

I got a sample of Coffee and Cream in a recent Nicotine Rush order. It is very good and comparable to QWS Irish Coffee. I find the Coffee and Cream less mentholated and a bit stronger than the QWS. - edit i dont think there is any menthol after all.

B

I received a sample of Grape Concored and Coffee & Cream with my last NicoteneRush order. So far I have tried the Grape Concord. It is very similar to a Grape Nehi soda. The flavor is almost exact. Very sweet and very long lasting. Fans of grape soda will love this one. For me it would be an occasional snuff as it is a bit too sweet for my taste and somewhat reminds me of the flavoring pharmacists tend to use when flavoring liquid medicines for children. Mild in the nicotene department. Still yet, excellent job with the flavoring as it really stays with you. Looking forward to trying the Coffe & Cream with a fresh nose. Will post my opinions on that one tomorrow. Thanks to Dholakia & Nicotene Rush for generously providing the samples!

D

Just about a week ago I was asking on a different thread if a ‘grape’ snuff existed. I had no idea that Dholakia made 'Grape Concord." I just received a sample today from N.R. and I love it! This snuff is exactly what I imagined a grape snuff to be like! It smells just like grape candy or kool-aid, which in my opinion is a great scent! Also, I noticed some weird ‘chocolate’ notes in it. Smells like some of the swiss chocolate snuff got mixed in, which isn’t a bad thing, just something I noticed. The scent is hard-hitting, but the STRONG grape scent fades quickly, leaving a gentle grape scent lingering for appx. 20 mins. As far as tobacco, I can’t really detect a tobacco scent, but I can feel it…does that make sense?? I love fruity snuffs so this one goes to the top of my ‘favorites’ list. Can’t wait to try all the other new releases…looks like there’s a non-menthol cola one out there too! YAY!!!

S

I got some Coffee and Cream with my Nicotine Rush order, and I agree with Matt. It’s very similar to QWS Irish Coffee, but maybe slightly “smoother”. Not bad at all.

X

Atari, I think they discontinued the samples due to people abusing their generosity. Namrata has asked that a sample of the new styles be inlcuded with orders from snuff merchants though.

B

HI All. I just received Concord Grape and Toasted Nut. Both are not my taste. The Grape while very grape tasting is too sweet and too much like straight Koolaid for me. Some might like it . The Toasted Nut is not bad, but I am not motivated to order any. American Caramel and Port Wine and Cheese from my last order: The American Caramel is sweet and not my taste, I feel the Swiss Chocolate flavor is better. But, the Port Wine and Cheese is good and I will order it if I can one day soon. I would love to try the others. Thanks Nicotine Rush!

B

I received 2 new flavors. Coconut Toffee I like this one. It is a nice flavor, heavy on the coconut, mellowed out with some toffee. Brandy with Maple Maybe it is my sample, but I am not getting a Brandy or a Maple flavor from it. A little confusing almost cheese tasting. I hope to see what flavors they actually do come out with. Can they do them all? That is alot in one shot.

T

I have a Portwine and Cheese. It’s ok, been snuffing it all day at work. Sometimes I think there maybe too many odd varieties. They can be good. I haven’t found one I didn’t like, but I think I tend to like mostly, the traditional flavors, like fruit and menthol. Tom502

S

I recently got a sample from Nicotine Rush entitled “Dholakia Spearmint”. I’m assuming this is yet another new prototype to their recent additions. Anyway, it came in one of Tim’s small snap top smash boxes. Upon first opening the container and trying a shot I noticed that it was dry and fine, much like the Sparrow types. However, this batch seemed to hold its consistency somewhat tighter than the old Sparrows and didn’t hit the back of the sinuses like a fine toast or scotch. This might be due to the feshness of the sample or the thickness of the spearmint oil, not sure. My first hits did not impress me anymore than the usual old school Dholakia blends. I did pick up the Spearmint but the base tobacco had a bitterness to it that seemed to clash. As is often the case, after setting it aside for a couple of days to distill, it was a totally different experience when I revisited it. The bitterness seemed to fade away and I was left with a masculine, spearmint flavored snuff. It never did bite the throat and satisfied fairly well. The sample vanished quickly and I was pleased with the product overall. I don’t know the story behind this snuff but its not a bad item. In the end I have only good things to say about it and might consider purchasing more in the future for my rotation.

C

That is one of the “Dholakia Limited” flavors. If you like it, order it quick as it may never see full production.

S

This may be a bit off topic but does anyone know if or when the Black and White snuffs will be released? I really love the Black and have been waiting for it to hit the stores but am a bit worried that it just might not ever happen. Namrata, if you are still checking in on this thread, can you give us an idea and/or tell us how we can purchase more of these snuffs? Thanks

S

One more thought: Tom or Tim, Is there anyway you could place a special order with Dholakia for someone who wanted some of the Black? I just bought a pair of hiking boots from our local shop here in town. They carried the brand I wanted but did not carry the specific model of boot. They were able to order it for me from the company

J

I’m still just getting around to snuffing my old Dholakia samples. I think the aniseed menthol is a mislabel and that it is a sandalwood menthol. I have another bottle to open so I hope I get aniseed menthol to try. Otherwise it’s a VERY good snuff. Heavenly!

X

@ Snifs: Dholakia Black and White are coming to the US vendors very soon. It was mentioned in a few other threads. @ Spyro: The Dholakia Limited editions have an explanation on the Nicotine Rush site. There are 10 limited edition flavors. I have tried 6. I think you meant Tom, not Tim. Although Tim may have them also. @ Juxtaposer: Was there not already an Aniseed Menthol in regular production from Dholakia? I have a fair amount here if you need some. The limited ed. sandalwood is a significant improvment over the QWS Sandalwood. They both have the same basic (powerful) sandalwood odor, but the limited edition one is not as overwhelming to me.

J

Xander, I believe Dholakia started making Aniseed Menthol sometime in 2007.

S

Oops. I meant Tom, sorry about that. I tried the Aniseed Menthol and it is very distinctly aniseed. You can’t mistake it for anything else. Maybe you did get a mislabeled batch. I still swear my Santo Domingo is KB.

T

@ Spyro: SD is distinctly sandalwood scented and very dark brown, almost black colour, whereas KB is flowery/perfumed and more of a mid brown.

S

Hmm. My SD is black with shiny bits that glint in the light. It is very coarse and moist with an earthy plain flavor. I detect no sandalwood or perfumes of any kind. Maybe I just got a green potato chip from the batch.

X

Mine looks like that too. I think yours is right. I don’t smell any sandalwood though, just earthy.

P

I’ve just now stuffed my nose with a lot of Santo Domingo, straight from the original tin. Loaded with sandalwood and a healthy nicotine kick too. Very, VERY nice indeed.

P

I’ve got some F&T Santo Domingo which has been sitting in a Taxi “tin” for a while. I’ve sniffed some now and it’s even better than the fresh snuff from the F&T tin. Same sandalwood aroma but it’s also developed quite a nice “burn in the nose” which I like a lot. Same strong nic hit. This is GOOD stuff.

O

still waiting for the dholakia white . . .

B

Dholakia White & Black have made it ‘in country’. Waiting for it to clear customs. Mr Snuff & Nicotine Rush should have it available by early next week. Tom

S

Happy Happy Joy Joy

X

@ Snifs: Stimpy could not have said (or sung) it better!

C

I miss Ren & Stimpy.

X

as do I. I have an old videotape around somewhere with a bunch of those. I used to have a record with the Happy Happy Joy Joy song. I think someone in college “borrowed” it and “forgot” to return it.

T

I have them all on DVD.

R

Miss them also alot.

S

I just got a 25g tub of American Caramel in the mail from Tom, as a sample for spending $50. I must admit, at first I was put off by the names, and didn’t think much of the “American” line, but I’ll have to reconsider. I’m not in peak reviewing form (seasonal allergies have me pinching menthols like crazy just so that I can blow my nose), but I smell a very nice caramel scent, and then some spice to it, which makes it quite good. I think if there was just the caramel scent to it, it would be too sweet, but that note of nutmeg, cinnamon, and whatever else may be in there just makes it perfect. All things considered, I was really surprised at how much I did like it, when I had almost been dreading trying it.

T

I have a single fave from each of these 3 lines. From Temptation it is: Orange Chocolate. From Blast it is: Whisky Honey. From Wow! it is: Coffee Bite.

S

Let me first say that just because I don’t find something appealing, doesn’t mean that it won’t be someone else’s favorite. Thus far, I have received 3, 25 gram samples of blast in the following flavors: Wine and Cheese Rum Special Brandy Maple Of the 3, brandy maple is probably my favorite, however; I’m not particularly fond of any of them. The closest thing I could compare them to would have to be the FUBAR line, but for some reason they just don’t compare. Unlike other innovative flavor lines from Toque or Wilson’s of Sharrow, the flavoring seems to be largely synthetic and while the scent from the tin is strong, it doesn’t seem to last when sniffed. I’m also not a big fan of the grind, which is fairly course compared to other Dholakia products. Anyway, I don’t want to be overly harsh, but these snuffs just aren’t for me. I will continue to enjoy Sparrow, Manjul, and the black and white snuff, but I don’t envision the blast products earning a spot in my rotation.

S

I don’t think I posted it, but I did receive a sample of Passion Fruit a few months back. I enjoyed the sample and used it fairly quick. Nothing bad to say about it aside from the flavor not lasting very long. I didn’t mind the more moist and fluffy grind myself and found it very easy to take. I would use this snuff again but it simply gets lost in the large sea of variety out there meaning I wouldn’t go out of my way to order more. Its adequate and satisfying, the girl you take home at closing time when the hot chicks are unavailable.
