IS Dholakia White actually… white? never seen it, (but you guys keep talking about it like this and I’ll have to order some) anyway if so, if used out in public, that could cause some interesting confusion. This thread is pretty much becoming my shopping list of what I’ll have to try next. So far we have (to recap and get my list going): Fribourg & Treyer High Dry Toast Fribourg and Treyers Macouba (whats this? Will have to learn more) Bruton Three Thistles Strong Toque Quit (believe I got a dud bullet, needs another purchase, in a tin) Rustica Leaves (for all purpose messing around and experimenting) Dholakia White Dholakia Black (whats this? Will have to learn more) mentioned and that I already have and really like: Toque Natural Toast Rooster Levi Garrett (aka WE Garrett to me) Two more I don’t have but are curious about, from a suggested list (when I asked a person who runs an online snuff shop what he recommended for high nicotine snuffs) he also suggested: FUBAR Grunt Wilsons Queens Extra Strong I smoked a MYO NAS Original cigarette earlier today (using Gambler Light tubes) and got a happy dizzy you normally only get after not smoking (or anything) for days. I also get revved up on the snuff, and I’m getting to where (having worked down from the too big for me regular portion to mini portion snusses) periodically get a 'too much" snus alert (chest starts hurting, get hiccups, start making too much snus juice in my mouth etc) all this and having been (still am with the NAS) a smoker of over 30 years… I think I’m just confusing my body so badly with all this that somehow I can still sometimes get my perks
Dholakia White is pretty close to being white in color. Its a light shade of ecru or ivory. My simple understanding of nicotine is that it is not just the nicotine level in tobacco but also the ph level which allows for a higher absorption of nicotine through the blood brain barrier. The smokey scotches such as Garrett may be spiked with wood ash to account for the flavor and noted nicotine rush. However, I’m just guessing here. There are others on this forum who are more knowlegeable about this and I could be wrong.
well, I have placed orders for everything discussed in this thread with the exception of: Fribourg and Treyers Macouba or Wilsons Queens Extra Strong (suggested to me off-thread in email by a snuff shop owner) I haven’t got a chance to find out a bit more what these two are (still working my way back through the great “Snuff types” section for more information on these and a few othrs, and at this point I’m kinda paranoid about accidentally buying more menthol or heavy scented floral etc types). If anybody has more comments/thoughts on these, and how they stack up in the world of strong nicotine snuffs (and what they actually are) I’m all ears. @Spyro – thank you for the info on the color of the Dholakia White. That peaks my curiosity just that much more – got a 9g tin (in its sort of dispenser thing I guess) on the way as part of an order. I believe you are absolutely right about the PH factor (though I know very little about that) there was a huge discussion about related things on an e-cig forum. When people put leaves in their lips in south america evidently they use some sort of ash or lime (I’m pretty vague on this too), and I’ve seen it suggested that if people put baking soda (or was it baking powder? I can never seem to remember) in their snuff they might get more bang for their buck (it would allegedly take longer to get into you but would be stronger once it did, something to that affect anyway). I think you’re more than likely exactly right about smokey scotches and how that comes to be but I’m just guessing too. I’m also not ready to go to adding things to my snuffs yet (I’ll just trust the manufacturers to this, at least for now) also still too chicken to mix any either… I tend to treat these little tobacco powders almost as if they were certain south American powders, get a bit OCD about trying not to let any crumbs go to waste etc… have to remind myself to relax about this, its not like its some rare material that costs hundreds of dollars or that I can’t get again…(though that white Dholakia is probably liable to confuse me even more that way once I see it, heh)
whistlrr Good resources for sussing out what a snuff may have to offer you snuff reviews
@whistlrr I hate to say it, but you’re never going to replicate that feeling you get from smoking an unfiltered MYO with any other tobacco product. Furthermore, if you smoke just a few, it ups your tolerance to the point that other nicotine delivery systems can do little more than keep you from feeling uncomfortable, or make you feel a little uncomfortable (i.e. like when you temporarily OD on snus). I still chip cigarettes every now and then, like this weekend, but I find it drastically interferes with my ability to enjoy other tobacco products. Your mileage may vary.
Queens Extra Strong is the same as Tom Buck. It is a highly scented SP. The extra strong refers to the flavour, not nic content. WOS used two names for the same snuff because in the North (Cumbria, Scotland etc.) the Queens label didn’t go over.
@Nachman – thanks for the info – I definitely don’t want that one then (I am quickly finding I go for high nicotine plain (not scented really) or smokey (toast or scotch) types. @OTD, I have found that site and it is good (now that I finally finally just today learned how to actually click to get the reviews instead of just a bunch of people’s names) but they tend to sometimes neglect in reviewing to tell you some basic fundemental stuff about the snuff in question (you don’t always get told its floral or its this or that etc). I guess sometimes they assume you already know? @LHB, I dont smoke unfiltered MYO – I smoke filtered ones (injectable tube type), but I do see your point about the cigarettes just not working in my favor (at least most of the time). I think alot of the ‘need’ to still smoke at least once in a while is psychological… I just see somebody smoking (on TV etc) or see I left one of the tools for smoking on my desk by accident or even just *thinking* about smoking can start it… and I am I think maybe finally slowing learning that 9 times out of 10 that cigarette is pretty well gonna suck once I do smoke it I can just pick up some snuff and sniff it, I can even lay flat on my back on the couch and have some snuff (sure can’t do that with cigarettes, I always at least had sense not to ever lay down and smoke, ever)… to smoke I have to get this whole arsenal of devices and items out (box of tubes, the contianer of tobacco, the ashtray, the lighter and the ‘maker’/injector) the contrast is increasing the awareness that “oh man I have to grab all that stuff and what an ordeal” (smoking has never been a very portable operation for me which is why I rarely do it outside of my home), and that’s making its own gradual deterrent to smoking too.
What I do if I want a “snuff buzz” is take the Rooster or other scotch can, dump about two Czech-tool shovel-fulls into the cap, then proceed to take 4 to 7 pinches. This gives me a pretty good feeling, complete with sweaty brow. I can only do this once in a while, but it works for me. I think the key to taking larger amounts of finely ground snuff, is to not use the lungs. Sniff only with the nose, it is possible. But once you are done, exhale through the nose and be careful not to inhale too sharply for a while, or the loose grains resting in your nose will be inhaled.
@Sprinngalong That’s interesting, especially because a lot of what you describe seems very close to what I do (except for me its several little tips of the czech tool placed on the back of my hand in succession… because my a whole czech-tool-spoon’s worth will go sailng off the back of my hand I haven’t worked out how to do controlled sniffs from anywhere elese/other means than there and bullets, and I’m trying to get away from bullets as fast as I can) the other difference, and I don’t know if you’re an ex-smoker etc, is that I find myself sniffing especialy when laying down (and yes I’m getting pretty good at this) if I am ‘power sniffing’ like this I find myself reflexively make an oral exhale after each one, very much like you would after a cigarette’s inhale now call me crazy… but I also remember during one of my successful (in so far as I was able to make it for months at a time) cold turkey/chantix quit-smoking efforts that a trick I used was to 'make your mouth like an o and inhale then and exhale air" (and think about how that’s good old air you just ‘puffed’ and not cruddy old smoke) anyway, here too that (what’s here pretty much involuntary reflexive) oral exhale just like I had a cigarette puff ‘does something’ additional for me… I feel like I get a mix of the benefits of the snuff plus… well. like I also smoked, its got a satisfying kind of soundless ‘aaah’ to it just like a cigarette exhale (only maybe even better – and i can do this laying down which I never could or would smoking) sniffing while flat on your back (such as on the couch etc) requires the czech tool, resting your tin on your chest but close enough to where you can see it (and preferably and especially if you have no depth perception such as I don’t while wearing a thin shirt so you can also feel its location), having your head up on pillows satisfactory to further help see what you are doing, and dropping a litlte tip of tool on the back of your hand I sniff from another natural hollow on my hand, one you have to be a thinner person or at least somehow have somewhat bony or maybe older hands to have, the little very slight hollow between the tendons that lead up to and just under my first and second knuckles on the back of my hand. I also kinda think if you can sniff rooster et al while on your back and have it only go where you want (and not down the back of your throat etc) this is also really good control training I can sniff rooster like this, but so far there is no way/no how I can sniff a thing like taxi no matter what I do or how I am positioned – I just don’t seem to have the skills required for courser moister stuff it seems fine dry sniffs are actualy easier for me (go figure). (looking forward to my order arriving that’s got the Dholakia white in it as its written about ias if its the granddaddy of all fine and dry types as well as said to be a powerhouse of nicotine)
NTSU. The nicotine is huge in that snuff.
First time post, I love NTSU. I love snuff. I have made a successful switch from smoking to snuffing and I am trying to convert all those around me one nostril at a time, with fair results I might add. I’ve used various methods of transport to my nose, I have used a bullet, the back of my hand, pinching, spooning I feel like all have their benefits depending on your style and type of snuff. One way I have adopted has given results like no other… “tubing”. While watching a educational program on television one day I saw a fellow spending some time with a jungle tribe. Part of his time spent he participated in a “spiritual cleansing ritual”. Part of the ritual was to take ground up tobacco into a hollow U shaped tube (taken from a plant and dried) and to put one end into the nostril and to lightly blow through the other to expel the tobacco into the nasal cavity. Light Bulb for me, this tribe is snuffing. Sweet. My adaptation started with tubes of various length and gauge but the most useful and easiest to manage for me was the bendable straw cut to proper length for the idea. I will say there was apprehension the first few times. A friend tried it once and never again, but my Dad loves it and even now has a “parfait” (layers of different snuffs) several times daily. I have found this works particularly well for finer dryer snuffs so if your feeling adventurous or even a little primitive try tubing and let me know if you do, I’d like to have some feedback.
And early morning necros, yay! @glenno, I don’t know how practical that would be for many people. Others tend to not look kindly on launching brown powder up your nose with a straw…
seems not much diffrent then the austrian snuff toys.
With the exception of course, that you need to carefully blow the snuff up into your nose.
Has anyone tried that Gletscher box with the spring loaded dosing mechanism that flings the snuff into one’s nostril? I was tempted to buy one but can’t find any reviews on it.
Jeesh. You want a buzz? Snuff some Bruton. If you don’t get a buzz from that then you should quit smoking! lol
@Spyro: I’m positive some on here have mentioned trying it at some point or another. Try searching for “automatik box” as I believe that was the spelling in all the listings I’ve seen. Edit: here, I’ll save you the search. http://snuffhouse.org/discussion/comment/142692/#Comment\_142692
It seems where I’m from that snuff taking is hardly accepted it’s just too rare. There is a certain stigma when anyone puts anything into their nose. Therefore when I snuff I am discrete and do so in private or only in the company of other snuffers, and don’t ever pull my tube out in public so no worries of being accepted socially when launching brown powder up my nose. But the end result of tubing is awesome, it is such a quick delivery and when done with something finer and drier you will notice that it is all put right were it is supposed to go being that you’re not inhaling when mildly blowing through the tube.
TY Shikitohno. I never mentally adjusted to this new layout the forum went to and totally forgot to use the search. Please excuse my senior moment.
I know this thread is a bit old and the last posts seem slightly ot, but anyway, it might be just me, but Im getting the biggest nic-kick from super kailesh. It sounds weird, as its fairly most compared to say bruton, but it works for me.
