Have you posted a copy of Wilson’s reply (to your original question) anywhere?
My wishlist: Dieppe Scented Etrenne Letter F Masulipatam Oronoko Patchouli Verbena**** Violet Strasbourg I’d be happy with any or all, but Verbena is my first choice.
Well done, giaach! Let’s hope they have some good news for us soon.
Thanks for the compliments, guess my English degree is paying off somewhat. Anyway I’m sorry I didn’t mention all the snuffs people mentioned. My main goal with the second letter was to get some sort of suggestion list to WoS and address the issue of following the old recipes as closely as possible. I imagine that before anything gets put into production (if it actually happens) there will be a final list of what shall be made. So stay tuned and keep adding those suggestions! Oh and PhilipS I didn’t post the original reply from Sharrow Mills but I could if everyone really wanted it.
@ Filek: I think Washington bought it for his wife, Martha. It was deemed a ladies’ snuff in some of the articles I’ve read, and I think I’ve also heard of Martha Washington taking snuff. I wonder how much different it was to the modern WoS Strasbourg, which to me seems to have a touch of violet in there.
Giaach, you have this editor’s hearty seal of approval for your writing skills. I join the chorus in saying “well done”.
This is really exciting news! Thanks, Giaach.
Just an update: As many of you know I sent a reply to Sharrow Mills on Tuesday Aug 31st and I have yet to hear back from them. Hopefully that is because they are busy creating some new F&T snuffs, or at least looking into it and are waiting to get back to me as soon as they have some solid information. I keep checking my email whenever I can whether that be on my phone or on my laptop but as soon as I hear back from them I will let all of you know.
Update #2: Well, I am afraid I have some unfortunate news for all you members out there. It has been almost 2 weeks since my reply to Sharrow Mills and I have yet to receive any word back from them. At this point I really don’t know what to do. Should I send another email to them? Should I just wait till October? Or should I do something else like have all of you members start sending them messages as well? Give me some feedback on this because we were all so excited to see this all work out and now it seems like the dream is dead.
Sometimes it takes businesses a while to get up to speed on a new idea. I say wait until October.
Yeah wait. Even in a small company the person will have to talk to one person who will have to talk to another before they can back to on something like this. This type of question would require a lot of people including marketing, accounting, and others. So really there is no reason to worry. Imagine if someone at sharrow told you something about this that their boss didn’t like. That would be bad for them because they’d either have to do what they said or look bad (and that is before a single legal consideration is made.) Also often times bussiness will release information when they feel it is best. Theoriticaly if they are planning on rereleaseing certain snuffs they may have a way they feel would be the best for them. Possibly announce it with a sale or with something else. I probably could have explained it better then that but I’am sure others can pick up the slack.
I apologize for resurrecting an old thread but still now word from Wilsons
@giaach, maybe all of us should write to them?
This makes me wonder: would a certain amount of pre-orders make it economically viable for them to craft “limited series” varieties? I mean, if we were to actually buy 10kg (or whatever the break-even is) in advance, they’d be sure to recoup the cost of recreating the line, and the rest would be profit, right?
@ Pieter Claassen I don’t see how it could hurt. I would imagine a more vocal demand would increase their interest
For god sakes I read this thread without looking at the dates and thought the whole discussion took place today. Hopefully the get back to you soon, the more variety off Snuff out there the better.
John8363, I did the same. Would be fantastic to have these snuffs resurrected.
@pgcd: Great idea about pre-ordering. It takes the risk factor out of the picture for the manufacturer. Maybe another letter, or letter-writing campaign, is in order?
I would suggest anyone who is interested in the revival of F&T snuffs email WOS and express the same interest that I did. It seemed to grab their attention so I would guess more letters would push the idea forward. Take some time and send them a message. http://sharrowmills-online.com/contacts/?SID=ae0843a39a7da34a0fc5b359f6e3aebf
Defiantly.
