ooo I like that plastic Poschl flask. I need some. TAD in full effect…
I love the look of those Zugspitze boxes, look to be on the same model as the Bernard’s. There’s just something appealing about cheap plastic snuff boxes, like I’ve said before they are like the modern version of papier mache. I read in the Fribourg and Treyer booklet and other places that serious snuffers used papier mache boxes; I think they would use the plastic ones if they were around now.
@Spyro: Does its job well, gets the snuff right up there.
Thanks cstokes, I’ll try to grab one sometime. Looks like it would be fun for Schmalzlers. Whatever happened to that recipe for making snuff boxes out of orange peels?
I’ll see if I can find it. The search feature is worthless.
Thx cstokes.
Today I received a bunch of new plastic snuff boxes in the Bernard’s style, this time in different colors. I am told they are an improved version, though I haven’t seen one myself yet. I would be interested in feedback on whether it is worth putting in a bigger order. I figured it would be a good way to store snuff without any chance of mingling flavors. The yellow and green are a bit garish but at least your snuff won’t get lost in the snow. I only bought 10 of each color to see how they go. You can find them here: https://mrsnuff.com/store/products\_new.php Enjoy, Dave
Looking at the black one it seems to be identical to the one I bought a few months ago and I suspect the change is the colour. They are fantastic snuff boxes but I would never store snuff in any snuff box because they are never 100% airtight and that’s the thing you need - unless you kept it in an airtight container as people who store flip tops sometimes do. That aside, this is the best snuff box on the market, pound for pound; very accurate moulding, hold a good amount and are pleasantly tactile. The top slides open for back of the hand snuffing but they also open as a standard snuff does. I hope you keep these in stock as they really are good.
@Dave, is the green one really that loud lime green? I like green but that looks obnoxious. Guess I’ll have to go with red or black.
@bigmick: the pictures are from actual photos, so yes. Look on the bright side: it is more difficult to lose and nobody will steal it.
Good points. I’ve got a week to think about it before I can place my order.
Why did they have to come in two days after my order! Bugger. Ah well, at least I’ve got a load of snuff to console myself with.
That just happened to me too, @Koba. I did order a brown one, but would have much preferred a black 'un. Ah well.
@mr.snuff i cant find the measurements for it. Mind sharing the dimensions for the plastic snuffboxes? Thanks!!
Just received my brown one, it’s massive. @Madshock, it’s about 3 inches, by 2 inches, and an inch deep at it’s deepest point. I reckon it’d take 25g of snuff, probably more. It seals well enough, but I’d not store snuff in it for a prolonged period of time. Edit: After some time with Schmalzers there’s an outside chance that if you were a heavy, all day, first thing in the morning to last thing at night user, such a box might be practical.
To give people an idea of the sheer size of these…the black ones anyways…a single PC box fits inside of them, with room to spare. That’s not to say they are too big…fit nicely in the pocket. I recommend them.
@Spyro: What are those round contraptions? Tried looking for them at snuffstore to no avail, looks like they’re labelled “Snuffmaker” - can’t seem to find them or any info on them. Any info would be great, as they look nifty - thanks.
I’m not for the moment a big fan of distributor boxes, secially the Molen ones, witch is a good idea at the beginning, but not perfects with theirs tobacco grains, relativly thick . I love the concept of boxes like McC or WoS for example,a so précious litlle container.Out, I employ simply a pipe-tool foldable, extremly functional.
I picked up two of the light-brown flip-top boxes on my last order. Nifty 'lil boxes to have around and they store snuff fairly well. The size is perfect for loading up with a weekend’s worth of snuff if you’ll be away from your stash
