@indiansnuff do you have any inkling yet of when the site might be live with your extend range? I have been holding back from PMing you about the above snuffs in anticipation of a bigger selection to come (not that I need more snuff) but I really want to try some madras snuffs - not sure I can hold out!
@theboggart going to be a few weeks sadly
Can’t wait to your site up and running
First come first serve I have a few tins of Tps madras, Tps madras black and 7photo swami also for £3 a tin. Tps madras is similar to the Nb but the black is a much smoother soot like version. The swami is a very sweet snuff flavoured with the usual Indian species, very suitable for oral use too.
@indiansnuff what snuffs will you have that are free of menthol ?
@kurtnose the madras and rose are free of menthol and very minimal in the swami
@indiansnuff PM sent!
@Indiansnuff, you sent me a tin of the Swami a while back. I must say, I don’t usually like menthols, but I did like the Swami. I wouldn’t say the menthol is “very minimal”, it’s certainly readily apparent. At the same time, it’s not a sledgehammer, it’s just one flavor amongst many. I get a hint of aniseed in there, as well as temple incense. When my lady, who works at a school attended by many expatriate Indian children, sniffed at it, she said it smells exactly like the incense that they use there at religious ceremonies. In general, I like plain tobacco snuffs for everyday, all day use, but Swami is very nice for a change. Also, when I first got it, I had a bit of a cold and was suffering from some congestion. The Swami was an excellent decongestant, and I continue to use it to counteract the effects of some congesting snuffs. I probably won’t buy more of that one, I think the one you sent me will last some time, but I look forward to ordering some of the others in the near future, when your stock expands a bit. I really think the Indians have the hang of menthol!
@jakartaboy guess my ability to detect menthol has been destroyed from taken too much methol. @kurtnose your probably best off reading what others have said on this thread then listening to me Hehe
Wow! The order arrived fast, even with the storms we’ve had here in New England. Can’t wait to get home and crack the tins. Thanks for the awesome service.
Holy exploding head, Batman! Wow, that NB Madras is killer (in a good way). Love the scent and the the nic-hit is amazing–way better than any snuff I’ve tried, including White Elephant and Willie Pete. Not for the faint of heart.
Received my 50g NB Madras today. Fine unscented plain snuff, very good nic hit. I really like this snuff and don’t see it lasting long. It’s very easy to take and is inoffensive. Highly recommended. Thanks @indiansnuff. Will be ordering more when the shop opens.
Well my snuff order arrived at lightening speed from @Indiansnuff, however I have only just had a chance to sample the Madras snuff and the Sagar Rose snuff. The Madras comes in a short tin cylinder, very packed, with a pretty wrapper, it is a very fine powdery grind.This is a new variety/style of snuff for me and the closest I could place it is too a dryer “Original style” schmalzer that you can find in Bavaria, i.e. real clarified butter or lard. I have only ever had the Bavarian one once or twice, but I can distinctly smell the ghee butter that they fry it in coming through. It certainly has a nice strong kick of Nicotine and maybe because of the butter after the initial kick I found a very pleasurable, soothing and moisturising inside my nose, that slowly descended before a tissue/handkerchief was required. I could imagine that this would be a very nice all day snuff from what I have experienced with only a few hrs of use. The tobacco flavour is very natural and mild, maybe similar to a very plain SP, however for me the butter adds an extra and indeed very agreeable dimension. The Sagar Rose snuff, is wonderful. It is essentially an attar of rose, with a slight menthol smell, although which type of menthol i could not exactly say, its mild (we need one of the acutely gifted smellers to nail it). The rose smell has a very Indian flavour/smell too it, i know that we have our rose snuffs in Europe but this just has that exotic nuance, with some other spice smell just hidden underneath, but so faint as hard to place. Nicotine medium. Another pinch and I again got the menthol oil, the strong Attar of Roses, and something else fleeting (I could have continued this however my hands has started to sweat)… Defiantly one for the collection, and maybe when the moment takes me, not so sure about all day, but again I suppose its what you get used to, and maybe after persevering It could become a regular or all day snuff. Defiantly worth a try as its so different. I have not yet sampled the other snuffs that arrived, but shall report back in due course…
Thank you everyone for the reviews. I’m glad everyone is really enjoying them
I opened a tin of Krushna this evening and it’s the only snuff I’ve taken for a few hours, which is unusual for me. It’s fine and moist and very much what i was hoping it would be like- unlike the black, sooty Indian snuffs I’ve tried-but with a very familiar flavour profile- spicy and floral and slightly mentholated with tobacco scent in there, albeit deeply buried. I find it easy to take and the tin is a delight. @indiansnuff, thanks.
I received a package from @indiansnuff this morning with the same lightening speed as the rest of you. I ordered the NB Madras, Krushna Photo plus both the TPS Brand Madras snuffs. As the package arrived this morning I started my day with a big pinch of NB Madras. Holy Smokes! This is a STRONG snuff! Let me tell you, it was a real eye-opener for a first snuff of the day. My tin was packed to brim with fine, tan powder, very similar in grind and consistency to a high dry toast but perhaps just a tiny bit moister. Once I stopped reeling from the nicotine punch I got nice, natural tobacco flavour with the distinct ghee scent also quite recognisable. It reminded me of of Dholakia Sparrow (which I now recognise is a Madras style - I didn’t before) but this is definitely a superior snuff, both in terms of flavour depth and nicotine delivery. It is probably the strongest snuff I ever had and it is 100% awesome. I also tried the TPS Madras. Another superb snuff with a slightly different flavour profile from the NB and not as much nicotine (although it is still a strong snuff that hits harder than most American Scotch snuffs). I have only had a couple of pinches of this one, but I think it is probablyvery slightly coarser than the NB and a little easier to use, but if you use fine snuffs you shouldn’t struggle with either. This tin was also packed full to the brim and it is another top notch product. Whether you preferred the NB or the TPS would be very much a matter of personal taste as they are quite similar apart from the off-the-wall nicotine slam from the NB, but I am pleased to have both in my stash. …and I still have the NB Madras Black and Krushna to try. Will update when I do. Cheers, @indiansnuff!
@lunecat I agree I personally think it beats white elephant and it is a hell of a lot easier to take as well
Tomorrow big day, parcel arrive today at Athens, tomorrow morning i will honor NB Madras with a strong coffee…
