Also you might want to get the contact information from @bakdoor on Sun Snuffs, as they don’t have a website as far as I know. When he ran Nicotine Rush, he was the importer for them.
Curious to know if you could just go to a market in any major city in India and find most of the snuffs available in the country, or if specific brands are only available in specific regions. @Indiansnuff, it would also be very interesting if you could post about the characteristics of the snuffs from each of the main regions. For example, I know that Madras-style snuff is often mixed with ghee, or perhaps some other oil. I think I remember that Gujerati-style is known for being fine and lightly colored. Be wonderful to know more about these different styles.
@Xander Cheers for the list sadly i have already contacted all of them. I thought Sun snuff was out of business these days? @JakartaBoy Yeah would be a nice thing to do, have to spend a while doing my homework though. Just wish we had shops like this here in the uk
For anyone that’s interested the photo i posted before is the retail shop for Arora Snuff in India, just showing how popular snuff is out there. Hope they get back to me soon. Here is another one with all that lovely snuff
Looking forward to sampling your wares, good sir
Next set of samples arrived today, the TPS madras snuff. One box of black madras and one brown. The brown madras is just what your except from a madras snuff, fine, dry and very strong on the nicotine. Has the taste of cigars. The black is very interesting, kind of looks like charcoal. Very easy on the nose not a single bit of burn at all. First smells purely of soot but then gives way to allow a slight nuttiness and the madras flavor to come through. Definitely going to be ordering a large amount of this shortly to be in the shop for when it opens. Will have to be careful with the packaging though as you can see below
I will be shortly doing a short review of all the indian snuffs I have and will be putting them up on snuff review
Looking on all those fantastic snuffs that are going to be available for a wider audience, makes me want to return to work on the classification of Indian snuffs. A hard task to do, since to make it properly I need to base on the literature from the times when snuff in India was tobacco for the nose - to keep the official terminology. Anyways I’ll put that on my ‘to do list’.

That’s something i plan on doing a well at some point, be a nice thing to have on the website when its finished. Gotta review all these snuffs i have first, speaking of which i best get on with that
Very exciting. I look forward to your shop opening. I’ll commit now to a $50 sampler set including anything I haven’t tried yet. To be honest, after trying all of the Indian snuffs I acquired on my travels, I repacked them in jars and left them alone while I concentrated on British snuff. Your thread here has resparked my interest. I got out the NC Super Special Snuff the other day to have a look and a taste. That one also has a cigar-like taste … or perhaps more like a pipe. It’s also easily the strongest snuff I’ve ever had in terms of nicotine content, but not quite as fine as snuff like Dholakia White or Sparrow, so it doesn’t burn the same way and doesn’t have quite such an intense initial impact. I appreciate high-nicotine snuffs, but this one is going to be for evening use only, it would ruin me for other snuffs if I used it all day. When I said “like a pipe”, my preference with a pipe was always for strong, Latakia-forward, English blends. The NC doesn’t quite have a Latakia flavor, but some tobacco that I can’t quite put my finger on that has the same qualities, something rich and earthy and chocolatey. As far as I can tell, either entirely unscented or with some scent so subtle and so blended with the natural tobacco that you can’t spot it.
I’ve found I have a love/hate relationship with the very few Indian snuffs I’ve tried so far. The ones I didn’t like I *really* didn’t like but the ones I’ve liked I can’t put down. Will you be offering small samplers for sale of the snuffs you will be stocking? It would make it easier for somebody not too familiar with Indian snuff (like me) to try some and find some favourites to order in larger quantities. I also hope you will be able to ship to Canada with no problems.
@crullers Most of the brand from the bigger indian snuff companies offer smaller packs (along the lines of 5 to 10 grams instead of the usual 50g) these might be a good place to start. I have no problem with shipping to Canada but it all depends on which card processor I pick and any restrictions they enforce.
Wow, that looks great! I sure hope you can ship to us in the US who are always protected by our over-vigilant government. Can’t wait for you to open!
You should take all the snuff spillage in the shipping packages and mix em all together. Then sell the concoction by the bag once you get enough. I’m very excited to see your shop open.
don’t know if it is still being produced, but Sun Pari is one of my favorite Indian snuffs.

Don’t think they are still going but I would be loved go be proved wrong.
I know ill probably get blasted for this like every other person thats brought up concerns about quality control, but i cant help noticing the state of those tins and box… if i was selling snuff and a supplier sent me something like that id tell them where to shove it! the 6p 66, cheeta and white elephant i received from mrsnuff were in a bit of a state, but i kept quiet seeing what happened in other threads. i have to say something now though, looking at those pictures… thats pretty bad.
Would you ship to Poland?

I would agree, however that was just a sample order which was posted in a DHL box and seem to have had a bump on the way over from india The tins actually cleaned up quite nicely to be honest. I have been promised the orders will come in a 5PLY box preventing this from happening. Of course for the stock my shop I wont be accepting any battered tins and will only be selling unmarked tins. Plus i think @lunecat would have a bit very upset if i wasn’t going to stock the TPS snuff after all @Viertel Yup of course First stock should be arriving in a week or two.
good stuff. i expect ill be judging the quality of tins first hand when you open
@firestarter0 it’s a hard job but someone has to do it.
