If you could pick a favorite American Snuff-

I’ve tried half a dozen American snuffs and found them all pretty vile. The sweet ones in particular have an awful taste. It’s like someone scraped the coating from cheap barbecue flavoured crisps and added a pile of artificial sweetener. I’m of the opinion that American tobacco makes the best cigarettes in the world but the worst snuff. I don’t like Wilsons Gold Label or the J&H Wilsons snuffs either (I’m sure the latter are made with Virginia tobacco too). Each to his own though

@ BradMajors: I doubt if the US snuffs are pure US grown tobaccos. We import a lot of tobacco from Brazil and the Caribbean. I think most tobacco products on the market are blends. Drop the sweet ones, get yourself one of the plain scotches. If you like toasts, there’s a strong similarity.

I hated all the sweet scotches when I first started. I found out that it was my technique that was bad, not the snuffs! I was getting way too much in my throat. Swisher wild cherry, honey bee and red seal are now all part of my rotation. I really couldn’t pick a favorite though, the’re all so different and it just depends on my mood.

@Xander: I’ve tried 3 plain scotches. The only similarity I find with English toasts - which I love - is the dry, fine grind. They all have that horrible smokiness I referred to.

There are a few that are not very smokey. Navy is one that springs to mind, but its a little boring to me. I hope you find one to your liking someday.

Well I’ve only had Rooster and a sample of Bruton when my nose was still quite young…So I’d have to say Rooster, as its the only one I’ve really appreciated! Some Rooster is going up my nose now.
