American Snuff recommendations please.

I’m wanting to try an American snuff when I put my next order in with MrSnuff, and was wondering which to go for (my budget rules out buying several at the moment). I usually snuff plains, naturals, toasts, SPs etc, so was thinking I would enjoy a scotch. I was thinking of Conwood Garetts Scotch, or Dental Scotch Mild, what do you think?

Honest, Tops Mild, RR Mills Plain, Navy Plain are my favorites, if I was to give advice, Koba.

If you want decent nicotine, try Square or Superior. Both are my favorites.

Navy Plain, Square, RR Mills Plain, Three Thistles Strong. The Navy Plain and RR Mills Plain are similar. Square is smokier. Three Thistles Strong is, well, strong. It burns more than the other three I recommended. I like them all.

I am partial to Rooster.

If you like plain, go with Starr. It is the most “Toast-like” snuff from the US.

I would say get a can of sweet and a can of scotch. All the above scotches are good, I would say Honey Bee or Buttercup might be good sweets to try. I would also recommend Checkerberry or Maccoboy as US snuffs that are a bit different, as they are pretty moist and easy to take compared to scotches.

Thanks everyone, thats a big help. I’ll probably end up going with Navy Plain and Honey Bee now that ive looked through them all, but we’ll have to wait and see when I actually put the order in, as you all know with snuff its hard to make up your mind!

I love my Honey Bee.

For the PLAINs (I don’t do sweets), WE Garrett is good…real good. It’s smoother than 3-Thistle or Square, which are also good. RR Mills is good too, but has it’s own thing going on; much different in flavor than the previous three. I like, and use, them all. I’ll probably be ordering Honest, again, in place of Square, the next time.

Honest is, according to my research, the coarsest grind American Scotch. It is still a much finer grind than Toque Original, but is the easiest Scotch to take and probably the best one to learn the proper finesse required for Scotch snuffing.

Anyone know where I can get some scotch snuffs in the Kansas city area? been calling around and stopping at tobacco shops, but can’t seem to find any. May have to break down and order some from MrSnuff. edm

@mustangii, Try a grocery store, like Food Lion, Winn Dixie, or if you have a friend in the Southeast states, they could pick it up for you. It’s reddily available here in grocery stores, but tobacco shops wont have it as they specializes in cigars amd pipe tobacco. I live in South Carolina

May have to hit some of the grocery stores. When I was sacking groceries back in the 70 at united supers I could find it there, but getting harder to find it around here. edm

My local Food Lion just stocked up on Honey Bee. Too bad I didn’t care for it.

Big fan of Red Seal, probably my fav. american snuff.

Lucky folks that live in the midwest and south. I have searched every store in my area and they don’t carry american snuffs. Only one tobacconist sells snuff but only a few WoS tins that are at least 5 years old according to the owner.

I can’t find them in tobacconists here in Delaware, but I have found plenty at cigarette outlets, particularly those in (ahem) low income areas. I did find a good selection in a tobacconist in southern New Jersey as well.

The ONLY place here in NASHVILLE (home of U.S. Smokeless of all things, so NO EXCUSE) that carries snuff is this Indian owned store and they have Bruton. The other is a pipe tab shop that has some like 2-3 year old tap boxes of S.G. Cherry and Raspberry. Yippee. (My first purchase was the SG Raspberry and it was so dried out. Little did I know that snuff wasn’t supposed to be that dry! lol) So of course we have one of the biggest snuff manufacturers here LOCAL and almost NONE of their snuff is available here. RIDICULOUS.

I just saw some at Winn Dixie yesterday…they had Bruton, Navy, Buttercup…first time I have seen it and been going to that store for years! Perhaps it is getting more popular. South Florida has little to offer usually.
