Snuff was all around when I was growing up but it was older peoples thing: gents over 40 and ladies over 50 snuffed. Everyone else smoked and men had their pipes and plugs which was cut with tobacco knife.
When I was a kid we would go visit my great aunt Birde, she always had a can of snuff, hairpin(for dipping) and a coffee can(to spit in) nearby.
