@newbiesnuffer Thank you, I take unorthodox as a compliment! In fairness, I’m still a smoker, just not cigarettes. I smoke pipes and cigars, though more as a hobby than anything else. Cigars are my occasional time out, and pipes are like meditation. Snuff, however, is all day every day. I have no idea how much it’ll take you to build a serious tolerance, though I guess I’d submit that the longer you use it, the less nicotine will become the main goal anyways. The worst I ever got was the first month after my son (now nine months) was born. At the time, on top of not sleeping nearly enough, I was working extra hours at my regular job and putting the final touches on what would go on to become the OSP line. I’m epileptic, do I have to be careful with caffeine. That’s where snuff has always come in for me. I’ve never had anything restore so much focus and patience as snuff, at least without serious side effects. Long story short, that month I got up to consuming sometimes up to ten grams of Madras a day. Huge boxcars every ten or fifteen minutes. I ended up quitting snuff for the summer to get my head back together.
Mine just arrived. I’ll be sampling it soon. Fighting a head cold currently. 
I ordered two of them. The white snuffs are my staple diet, so I like to try all the different types that are available. Gotta tick this one off my list.
@MrSnuff: Dave, did you write the blurb that’s up on your site yourself? If so, you got a flair for words. You ever need a bit of extra work on the side, I know a few agencies in Jakarta that are always looking for copywriters.
I ordered a tub of it also. I got it almost one week ago and my impression is this: It’s almost exactly like Dholakia White. In fact, as I write this, I’m feeling the effects of it coming on… Yeah, it’s strong, but I wouldn’t say it’s exponentially stronger than the whites we all know. As for the price, I think it’s rather high. Fortunately, the tub is packed solid, and ought to last me a long time, as I don’t use it often. I was hoping it would be more exciting, but it’s not. Any time a new snuff appears, I have to try it. Oh, and like others have mentioned, I liked the story of it’s origin on Mr. Snuff. Thats probably why I bought it.

I have just received my order and I must say it is very nice. It compares very strongly with White Elephant.

I was based out of (what used to be called) Irian Jaya for a while back in the 90s. Flew from Santani to Wamena on a regular rice and gasoline run. Fun times. Then out of Halim to Balakpapan and other places in Kalimantan. Also some of the other islands like Ambon. Ultimately based in Singapore for 3 years. I miss SE Asia a lot.
@MrSnuff, for all its faults, it gets under your skin, doesn’t it? I’ve never made it up to Wamena. I was on the very eve of setting off, when the org I worked for pulled the plug for “security concerns.” But I’ve been to all the big Papuan cities, Jayapura, Sorong, Biak, and one of the islands, Yapen. I’ve only been to Ambon City and within a few hours drive, but I’ve been all over Kalimantan, NTT, Sulawesi, and Sumatra, including some of the more off the track places. Still got lots more I haven’t seen yet, though!

@JakartaBoy you are not wrong. My eldest daughter is heading off to Cambodia to work in July so at least I have an excuse to go out and visit. Last time I was in Phnom Penh was back in 1997. It will be unrecognizable.
You could spend your whole life just travelling in Indonesia and just scratch the surface of the 18,000 or so islands.
Did you ever read “The Malay Archipelago” by Alfred Russel Wallace? It’s a great book. Darwin gets all the credit for the discovery of evolution, but ARW deserves at least half IMHO. They were friends, but I read somewhere that Darwin rushed “On The Origin of Species” to print when he realized Wallace might beat him to the punch after they co-authored a paper in 1858.
@MrSnuff, I bought a copy of the Malay Archipelago years ago for some research on orangutan, but I’ve never read it cover to cover. It’s still there on my bookshelves. I should dig it out. I read Origin of the Species years ago, it’s actually a good read. Phnom Penh has changed beyond recognition. Back in 97, it was still pretty edgy and rough. These days people make jokes about how you’re more likely to run into trouble in tame old Thailand.

@peacock well that’s a perfect way to start a rumor about Roderick (one of my hobbies). There are a couple ways we can play this. I think that Roderick has several aliases behind which he runs his global snuff industry from. In Afghanastan he pretends to be a local and rebrands toque rustica.
and it isn’t about the money he’s a man of ideals. Until the nose is the way tobacco is taken he’ll not rest.

I already mentioned that the Afghan snuff is similar to the other whites from India. Is it possible Mr.Snuff’s little story of how it is procured is just an elaborate April Fools hoax? I keep all my white snuffs together, and sitting side by side, the Afghan looks like all the others, more or less. It also has the same mild flavor and high nic. I don’t want to step on any toes here, but, I think theres an awful lot of hype about it. I’d like to see someone smuggle some Afghan opium, then disguise it as snuff, and then send me a few tubs of THAT. Now, that would be fun(and dangerous).
