@sIide or anyone else who ordered from that web page. Do those screw on tops have the foam under the lids?
Yes they have a seal. It may be paper covered foam. Not really sure what it is. I have had them fall out but a little dab of glue solves it. That said…I think the ones basement_shaman uses are a better design. Wide mouth - don’t need a funnel to fill them and you can store pipe tobacco in them as well. If I had it to do over again I would buy those wide mouth packer jars.
@basement_shaman Thank you for the links. The only problem is that they will ship to Israel (or Europe) only when I’ll buy for at least 1000$ I don’t really think that I need so many jars
But this web sitedoes give me a good idea of what I’m looking for *-
The website @Mouse gave will not ship to Israel (or Europe) as well… For people that do live in the USA, Canada, Mexico etc I think these are good websites to check
@Tashi Neals Yard Remedies is opening a store in Israel soon - http://www.nealsyardremedies.com/store-finder Unfortunately it just says “coming soon” so no exact date. They will sell a variety of dark bottles and jars as per http://www.nealsyardremedies.com/make-your-own?&page=1&q=make-your-own If you can find some aromatherapy suppliers in Israel they should have stocks of dark coloured jars at a reasonable price.
Guys, in the U.S. most Walmarts or discount stores will have canning jars by the case with lids included. You can get quart, pint, and half pint without a problem. A case of jars shouldn’t be anymore than 10-15$. Walmart will at least have quart and pint and if they don’t you can get online to purchase them from Walmart’s website and they will ship them to your local store for free. If you don’t like the two piece metal lids that come with canning jars you can purchase one piece plastic lids for a few dollars extra. As long as you keep them in a dark place there is no need for expensive amber bottles. Save your money for snuff.
7.99/dozen for 4 oz jars @Walmart. Hold 50g and will protect your tobacco for decades. . But if anyone wants to go buy expensive amber bottles or fancy containers with questionable seals, by all means
You can get jars from many places, but I like this website, they have so many different bottles and jars, and one piece lid mason jars which are my preference. http://www.specialtybottle.com/index.aspx

That’s what I have my bulk snuffs in. 4 oz, 8 oz and even some pint jars. 25 gram tins that did not make the bulk list in amber bottles. They work for essential oils so the only question on the seal is what it’s made of. Still much fresher than if they had been left in the tin. One day I may want to use them, give them away or trade them. And they will still be fresh The one advantage to the colored bottles is they provide additional protection from light. Not that I store mine in light or in the open…
$.42 for 2 oz,$.75 for 4oz and $.52 for 8oz, I agree you don’t need fancy colored glass to store your stash, As long as it keep it fresh. But they sure look classy, And when I am dead my child can sell those fancy jars for a small fortune with or without the contents. Don’t hate- celebrate
@chris and all others… Thank you for the information (: It’s long time that I try to figure out how to store my snuff. Of course, I’ll be happy for more information and tips about this subject…
I tried to storage my snuffs in their original tins wrapped tightly in food film…it seems that it works…
@mipasma: I´m trying to storage my snuffs in my nose B-)
So what about putting an economy bag of snuff into a jar? It must have been for a notion of convenience or just being too lazy to empty it into the jar, I’m not sure why anymore. I just wonder if the plastic would leach into the snuff…maybe I’ll just dump it loose into the jar…but still I wonder…
@cakeanddottle I have to agree with you with respect to pipe tobacco purchased in bulk and if I bought snuff in bulk then I would also use jars. My problem is that I am buying snuff in tins of 25g or less and even the smallest mason jars / jam jars would contain so much air compared to the snuff that there would probably still be problems. Given the wealth of experience on this forum can I ask which tins are okay for storage and which are not. The F&T and Toque tins have screw tops and seem fine to me. WoS 10g and SG 25g tins I am unsure about. When I replace the lids on those I sometimes have problems opening them again so they appear to be pretty airtight. I am sure that other newbies have similar issues so any comments here from the snuff veterans would probably be useful for all of us who are just starting out. If it is okay to leave snuff in those tins then the next question is - for roughly how long? I am loving snuff but it will take me many months to get through what I have already purchased and I am already looking at another order to try other varieties.
All help and suggestions gratefully welcomed
The smallest size baby food jars work great for 25g tins of snuff, eat the baby food (fruits are best IMO) a you have a free jar, I keep all my daily snuffs in these jars and it worked well so far. ImageShack - Best place for all of your image hosting and image sharing needs
@SnuffSniffer How do you get rid of the smell of the baby food? Beautiful collection you have :)>-

Well I usually get apple sauce or bananas (the two most palatable kinds IMO) and just wash them well with soap & water, haven’t had a problem with residual food scent.
