New Storage Method?

I thought that I might show this and see what you all think. I use Ball brand 1/2 pint and quart size jars for my long term pipe tobacco storage. I get 12 of these w/lids for only $6.46! The device shown on the jar is a FoodSaver brand product that vacuums all the air out of the jar and seals the lid very tight. The jar and lid combination is pretty airtight already but this really takes every last drop out and puts the jar in a vacuum. Maybe it is too excessive and there is a danger of sucking air out of the snuff container? I guess that would be fine as air is the enemy, right?

I’m sure it will work well, but I would need to buy another house if I were to store all of my snuff like that.

Yes. I thought the same thing myself. I was thinking I could use this method for long term storage of my favorites and keep my rotation in air tight boxes.

If I could do that for bulk without sucking out any of the snuff in the process, I’d be interested. For tins, I’d say it’s probably excessive, especially with F&T tins. Most tins you should be able to finish before it’s really an issue, especially if you decant from tins into snuff boxes rather than just taking pinches out of the tin.

Can’t go wrong with MasonJars for bulk. (My wife would be very suspicious if she found my ‘snuff pump’ under my bed :))

Overkill, you will be sucking the moist air out of the tin as well.

Don’t worry, Bart. We know that pump is too small for a mason jar.

I say just put the snuff in a ziplock bag, a straw, and a wife or girlfriend to suck the air out and zipper the bag shut while she’s sucking the air out

Paybacks, Stokes…paybacks!!!

Your better keeping your WoS cans in that, FandT have such a good seal its probably not doing anything. Ive got 30 year old cans of FandT still in perfect condition but no WoS tyype tin would last a fraction of that.
